I like the textures, always nice to a bit of change in the textures across the building :thumb:

@Simcoug I agree, some early 20th century tenements would really help with historic neighborhoods, like the ones in Boston, NYC, Philly, etc

@SimCoug : I like this idea about 20th century row houses, but only with flat roofs, like the majority of buildings than you can see in NYC or the USA.

That pic is from NYC in 1930, so there were/are row houses with gable roofs (or other types of pitched roofs).  I just think some different roof types would add to the variety factor :)

Also, like Sunv mentioned, they would help distinguish older, more historic neighborhoods.

Yeah, the two-colour scheme really makes the building - and its variations - so much more interesting!

T Wrecks- Thank you, it is more interesting, it makes the building stand out more than just the brick texture change in each building. :)

11 Thumps up on a post!!!! :O I have not had this happen to me in months, that you so much guys, thank you. :D

Here's the night light render for you guys, I'm planning to export soon, not today but soon. I have batted this far faster then my other buildings this year, and I think the reason is because I'm in a high rush to start the next building.

For you guys that do not know each building now has a different roof texture, the terrace texture is the same. :D

    edwardjeria- Thank you buddy!!! :D

SimCoug- Thank you, I hope I can get my new bat started soon. :)

Jasoncw- Yes your right, I have already change the scale of the bricks, I'm going to show the render. :D

Right now I'm exporting the building, I'm thinking of exporting it on two different computers to speed the exporting of these buildings.

I have added some flowers, I know the thing below the windows are saturated, I will fix that. :D

does your model go below ground?  That's usually why those weird shadows appear.

You can Try turning the property "IsGroundModel" (or something of that sort - i'm going off of memory) from 'true' to 'false', but that will make the shadow for the entire building disappear.

Yeah, it goes below ground, I have made sure the object to hide the base covers the bottom part of the model, I have looked at the Alpha files and it's right. :(

NYBT 1225 Morris Avenue and NYBT 32-48 30th Street goes below ground and does not have this problem.

I've ran into a couple models that go below ground and they all have that shadow problem.  You can get around it by chopping the model into two (above ground and below ground parts) and creating a custom foundation.  I don't have much experience with that method, but you can also just make the underground part a prop and turn off the shadow - then stack both pieces (above ground building and below ground prop) right on top of each other in the LE.

Yeah your right. but this does not make any sense, I thought I've master the underground thing. I should not have problem with that unless it the render.

I'm going to give the game another update to see what that does, I hope that;s the problem.

Edit: the update did not work. :(

To let you guys know, I let it past for the Gracie Manor because the month was almost over with. :P

Maybe the depth underground of this building is more than those?  If it is only slightly below the surface, the shadow shouldn't show up.  My best guess.

I have updated the post above.

Do you see the same shadow problem with the Gracie Manor?

I could always go back to manually working on the alpha files. Have you ever heard of the matt rendering technique, that's the technique I use when the base goes below 0. I Xyloxadoria told me about and I told Jasoncw to make a tutorial on it. I wish he would post a few pictures for the tutorial.

Here's the 1225 Morris, it goes below the ground and the shadow does not show up in the game.

    ku1f.jpg

    Here's how it works

I cover the parts that does not need to show up in the render, then add matt texture.

Well, I'm basically clueless when it comes to BAT techniques... does the shadow show up on the Morris building when you look at it from the back?

It would be strange that you can fix the ground shadow for one building, but not others...

There's no shadows on the 1225 Morris. All the buildings in this picture I made extend below the ground.

I have an experimental idea.

I'm going to try something out, I'm going to go back to the Townsley scene and delete the building and replace it with a box filling up the LOD to see how it works.
