Well, with Cities XL (original from 2009), you saw previews for plopped zones if you had individual placement on.

I would like to see the custom maps added to Cities XL 2011. I really want a mostly flat city with large harbors.

One thing I would like to change : the population within houses. When you place one single house, your population increase of 20 new citizens... More realistic population figures would be great, something like :

- Low density residential = +5

- Medium density residential = +20 to +50

- High density = +100 to +250

Last time I checked, requests for modding of the "lots" are not to be made because there is no way to make custom lots as of yet.

I've got a bit of a dilemma. So, here's a request/question.

Request: Mod/Cheat to bring retail and commercial services up. Desirability-wise at least. Ability to bring cities back from the brink of bankruptcy, by use of a mod or cheat.

Details: As a newbie to the City Life games, its a little annoying trying to figure out how you managed to screw up the city when you're -111000 and you're losing -75000 and counting. Plus add in all the weird messages like "City out of money" Or "10/20% Loss of profit" and the missing city tiles and its enough to make someone crazy.

Game Benefits: It'd be easier for someone new to the game, but loved the Sim City Series to get up and started. Mind you even in RL, managing money has been one of the hardest things to do.

If anyone can help me out, or know of a mod or any tips. It will be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to see someone finally create proper USA roads for the game. The ones included with 2011 have some quite noticeable mistakes (compared to real American roads):

-Crosswalks need to be white, not yellow (never seen this in any city in my life)

-Two lane simple road needs to have double yellow line down the center (think standard SC4 roads)

-Large avenues need to have dotted white lines separating the lanes on each side (the only roads that don't have painted lines are suburban streets and little backwater trails that noone ever drives on)

Gotta agree! me as a tourist who visited there can point that out to, you ould probably re-texture the streets so they look like that

Here in Washington, small roads have single yellow lines so the cars can cross.

Can someone who knows how to mod create a good turtorial for vehicles.

I have tried to create a dutch ambulance but with the mod the game crashes each time.

I hope that i see what i doing wrong if there is a good turtorial.

I don't know if this has been done, but one-way expressways would be nice. Then you could have two expressways side-by-side and make each one, one way. I don't really like the highways in this game as the interchanges are way to big for an inner-city highway. Unless someone can make off ramps with a small footprint. And the ability to duplicate a road. So, instead of laying down one road you can have two side by side and lay them down in one hit. Things would look neat that way. And if anyone has worked out how to make maps, please help me. I looked at Neidhards tutorial and got most of it down, its just the Photoshop part I don't understand. Then I can upload some maps.

EDIT:  One thing which I would love would be to place tress.  Like in SC4 where you just paint them on and if you want to build something over them you can and dont have to actually delete them.  Then you could have beautiful forests around your city.

I would like more influence from leisure, it's annoying and unrealistic to place so many leisure building and see your leisure rating at 50%...

My request is for a traffic modification.

Here is the reason why:

I built a small subdivision in my city. 120 houses are in this subdivision. I had to use 1 way large avenues to control the traffic in and out of this subdivision. This is so unrealistic. A second subdivision on the other side of the expressway has that maxed out. How many cities do you know where there are only 240 houses with a maxed out express way?

Farm Roads has a rating of 10 cars per minutes. I built 6 houses on these roads which puts these roads at their limit. Really? Come on. That means all 10 residents leave their houses at the same minute which causes these dead end roads to be maxed all day long.

The upgrades don't improve things enough as most only double the amount of traffic available. So by the time I get to 240 houses, I am maxed out.

Solution:

Increase the Small Farm Road to 15. That should allow me 10 houses on these roads which I think is a better starting point.

Then make each upgrade a multiple of 5 from the starting point of 15.

Small Road would be 75.

Road would be 375.

Small Ave = 1875.

Large Ave = 9375.

Expressway = 46875.

35,000 house before the expressway gets jammed makes way more sense to me.

and if its possible to let boats drive on it ( i will get very Happy )

and if then passengers can use them instead of streets ( i will kiss you ; )

and the second wish is to build sidewalks or ways only for passengers!

Hey everyone, i don't know if this has been mentioned, but could it be possible to add to CXL 2011 a grid mod?: i'm thinking a grid like we used to have in SC4. This would very very helpfull and it's a feature focus should have included to have better overall control of the city construction. Just an idea.

Cities XL 2011 can be forced to create an arbitrary grid through the new block zoning tool.

Is it possible to have an orchard with neatly organized rows of trees? If so, I would like to see a new orchard farm zone. I would also like to have more flexibility with the size of the farms I can create (I want to be able to have farms from 50% to 200% size).

Just a small request, and I don't know if anybody has asked these yet:

1. Snow mod for a snow landscape (not mountains) but in the streats to get a real winter fealing to your city. Hope this can be done without having to plop only snow buildings and roads.

2. Canals

3. Windmills (old ones you see in Holland not the modern ones)

4. ofcourse some good old offramps or whatever you call it in the usa for getting of the highway/expressway. The current version doesn't allow for any normal looking offramps.

I think when the modders look at city life they find the anwser for modding buildings, caus with citylife we have a program to make buildings of our own.(dont now the name anymore of it)

also there are buildings in the game(citylife) ,that seems to look the same as in cities xl.

Im not a modder or so, but i played citylife for several months and i have always the feeling when im look to cities xl that is an upgrade of citylife, so maybe the files are the same and could whe make are own

sort of lot editor.

1) I know a 3D City Builder game with a windmill. The windmill is a Tilted Mill and it looks beautiful in a Romantic City. [Run a search with the capitalized words and you will certainly find it]

2) People walking around are pedestrian comuters. Find a way to decrease the use of vehicles and build roads with higher pedestrian capacity, and you will increase pedestrians. You should also have pedestrians display at 100%.

3) Some files in Cities XL were indeed (pretty much) the same but they are all compressed and organized differently.

I would absolutly LOVE love love to see a Map of the Downtown Salt Lake City area. With its hills and mountains the topography is interesting and it'd be a cool map to build a city on. 4.gif
