Hey All...."first time post-er, long time SC4 player"...now hooked on CXL...

Just opened my copy of CXL the other night and am now building my outer world metropolis with the hopes that all of the creative input that I enjoyed by all of the talented modders at SC4 will make their way here as well....you guys and gals rocked the SC4 game and thanks for the gazillion hours I spent playing instead of working on what I should have been doing...!

Because we have the graphics enjoyment in CXL, is there any way to swap out the in-game billboards, boulevard signage and even the marquis(s) on the various buildings?  I have been snooping around but have not seen anything mentioned so please excuse if I missed something...

I would think a modd allowing a "rotating banner-type" add package (as in web design) could be a really cool item instead of seeing the various automobile adds that are over-abundant in-game.  A simple jpeg/bitmap menu with a consistent size requirement and/or option to update on the fly or set up as an easy import/export of content option...

We plug in "movie release posters", "new music releases" and various sponsor ads on our web site and I would think seeing these at the various bus stops, malls, etc. would add more in-game realism...

Thanks to all of you who contribute to the real life experience...why I like to slip into my own world when the real one gets a little to much....

 Request: Mod to automatically fill empty spaces in High-Density Free-Zoning with Medium-Density Zones

Details: Normally, when a player free-zones a High-Density area, the spaces which High-Density Zones would not fit will be filled with Medium-Density Zones. This mod would change that.

Game Benefits: Saves players time to fill the empty spaces and rebuild plazas which will have to be demolished.

Now the bridges have the low bridge mod, we can enjoy realistic bridges.

What about a 'high tunnel' mod, so they actually CAN run under buildings, close?

So, I tried looking up funkeemonkey, but couldnt find him

I'd love to see some Utah maps tho. Specificly Utah Valley, St. George, and Salt Lake City. The terrain is stunning.

Is it possible to make the Plaza go over water as well as land?

and is there any wider "roads" (the road in Pack, Americans section, it goes over water and land and look like a timber pier)

I think this game offers so much with regular buildings and where I think it lacks most graphically in the farming the stex is filled with ideas and models for farming that just make it awesome.

Details: This could be for presentation or tiered with production benefits as farming doesn't offer much of this in the game either.

 I think a great mod for this game would be one that allowed small streets to join with other roads without creating an intersection. To me having every road make an intersection creates too much congestion and unwanted stops.

I have no idea if this is possible, but it would be nice to see. 5.gif

hay guys I have a question( and a request)

is it possible to have to "areas" go over water as well as land? I'm trying to make a nice border around my city and to create some fake docks, and this would be a way to do it (for now)

If so could you guys spare some time mod it please, i would be most gratefully

There is already an area plaza with a parking lot texture somewhere.

Request: intersections for all roads that have four and two way stops, but at a minimum, make a four and two way stop sign intersection for two lane streets and roads with all other roads.

Details: This game is simply not fun if there is a stoplight every 10 feet on a RESIDENTIAL STREET WITH NO ROAD LINES!!!! AND EVEN DIRT FARM ROADS WTF!!!!! (total nerd rage, I fail to understand how they could make two versions of this game without realizing 90% of their customer base is anal over stuff like this)

Game Benefits: The game would be far more realistic if this simple mod was added. I don't even care if the cars treat it like a stop sign so as long as it cosmetically has one.

Request: The ability to name roads! And if you can't add this easily, give SOME way to label areas on the map, then I can create my own system, i.e. placing a labelled building near a road to designate the roads name.

Game Benefits: The game lacks character and a personal feel when the roads have no names.

Request: Turning Lane Avenues

Details: We have almost every road combination you can think of but this, would love to see a center turning lane added on two and four lane roads.

Game Benefits: Nearly every American city has a turning lane on the majority of their major roads.

I would like to see Canals if possible.

I would also like to be able to progress through densities and buildings quicker without having to be in expert mode. As a person that has trouble starting cities with high density buildings but doesn't want to have to wait forever to see them this would be nice. So buildings medium density would be unlocked with less population.

A proper highway system. Right now, I want that in the game more than anything else. You just can't build a proper American city without a freeway in the city center, and the ridiculously huge CXL ramps force you to put the freeway at the edge of the city and connect to downtown with a giant underground spur. It's stupid and is the number one thing that drags me back to SC4; at least I could build a decent urban freeway there.

Hey everyone, i don't know if this has been mentioned, but could it be possible to add to CXL 2011 a grid mod?: i'm thinking a grid like we used to have in SC4. This would very very helpfull and it's a feature focus should have included to have better overall control of the city construction. Just an idea.

I would be very interested in a grid mod. I am very well aware that most of the tools in Cities XL have some snap functionality, whether it be random locations, angles, or distances. However, I am more interested in a modification that would allow me to see the grid visibly. Why? I usually use trees as way points, as strange as it sounds, and I would like to be able to see where I should point the tool in order to be in the same grid as the tree. This might just be a texture mod, but it could be more complicated, as you would have to position the grid precisely. I am not a modifier, so I would be very interested in the release, or at least a precise walk through, of how to make this mod. You may hear me bring this topic up in the chat, where more people are and it is easier to get attention.

Really hoping to see this mod soon,

Now that there is a modding tool for Cities XL that allows one to import buildings from 3DsMax, how difficult would it be to make these? If it is easy, maybe I should attempt to get 3DsMax 2008.

What exactly is required to upload .3ds files to Cities XL? Can Blender be used? It can export as .3ds I believe and its a free program.

If we have an army of Blender and Sketchup artists who create high quality .3ds models, we would need a handful of file-converters who own 3DsMax 2008 and export to .sgbin using the provided modding tool plugin to 3DsMax 2008.

I know this is a long shot, but is there any chance of perhaps being able to plop a generic residential lot rather than having to pick and choose the wealth beforehand?

1. Can someone create a flat map that actually works.

2. I would also like a hand tool that would let me move unoccupied lots around the map while the game is on pause. That way I don't have to press play, then fast forward and wait to let the lot get demolished.

A mod that displays heavy, moderate, and low traffic on roads, avenues, and especially freeways, like the one Sim City 4 has would be excellent.. I love seeing lots of traffic on my roads... but it takes the skill of trickster to get them use the freeways (Realistic Highway MOD) in Cities XL 2012....
