It took a while, but I finally made a full basketweave interchange with RHW 5.0.

    The new components help make it more realistic, that's for sure! :}

I made two mosaics to show it. Click them both for full size.

    You're mad, Haljackey, MAD!!! </dramatic>

    :D

Nice work, anyway. The signage and the freeway lighting could be inproved, but aw well, we already know each other's opinion about that ;)

    Best,

    Maarten

For some reason, that looks like it doesn't works quite right... I keep following it with my virtual car in my head and keep getting upset that I can't go where I want... is it a partial interchange or a full?

    MorenoValley-Jan10001322175257.png

Something simple I made, it's the interchange in So. CA (Moreno Valley) 215 - 60 go their different ways/come together. 2 VERY congested freeways, each with two lanes (4 lanes) used to merge into 3!

Note, this is before any new construction took place, such as the truck bridge, and the new current work. Anyone know the area, want to tell me how close this looks with the limits of RHW.

    @ Markus:

its just partial because traffic from the two residential zones only needs to go to the neighboring industrial city (east) or to the city's commercial center (west) In simcity sims don't need to visit each other or anything so its ok if there is no connection between the two residential areas. :P

A new interchange I made, between Hwy. 64 and W. Chance Avenue north of Farmington. Note the weird design was because I couldn't fit a full trumpet interchange due to the smooth curves.

Sim_Ink: That's a very compact setup, but it involves left exit and entrance ramps! Eek! :dead:

-I guess you have to weigh the pros with the cons, eh? :P

I am dealing with capacity issues on the only DDI I have built outside of guide/testing purposes. I have widened the ramps to two lanes (RHW-4 instead of MIS) to help entering/exiting traffic, but that has reduced the amount of lanes I can have pass under it.

Now, check out a history of the interchange!

The original interchange only had one DDI piece as it was only 3-way.

    P6XSO.jpg

But a lack of north/south connections pushed me to develop the hilly side of the RHW. The junction was converted to a full DDI to push the avenue south.

    wWQ8Z.jpg

Originally I wanted to keep the area relatively undeveloped, but high demand pushed me to prepare the area for growth.

    2n3Bo.jpg

Nearby road network complete. Development progresses.

    dmwJM.jpg

RHW is widened from 4 to 8 lanes to increase capacity. However, there are capacity issues on the ramps themselves.

    NOjO7.jpg

    The most recent reconstruction.

    halton_hills-feb._16__6031341785610.jpg

The RHW below was reduced to 6 lanes for two reasons.

-Most traffic enters or exits at this interchange rather than pass through it.

-No RHW-8 and RHW-4 splitter exists. That would create a RHW-12, which does not exist. Reducing the RHW-8 to a RHW-6 allows RHW-6 and RHW-4 splitters to be used, which creates a RHW-10 at each side.

It helps to take lots of screenshots and store em somewhere. They're great to show history/progression. You never know when you'll need them!

Yea, not a huge fan of left-exits, but when space is tight, you do what you have to. :P Love the interchanges, BTW. :)

I have one which I will be showing off shortly. Not the greatest (no accel/deccel lanes) but those will be added when I do some road construction.

Here's a diamond interchange I've been working on. The development is ongoing, notice that I left room to widen the bridge across the motorway in the future.

I've been away for a while, but will be resuming my city journal and here is a piece from it. I managed to cram this full Y-Interchange in this dense hillside neighbourhood.

I had posted a little while ago an attempt at a three-level cloverstack using blahdy's Big Dig pieces. I had an opportunity to revisit that concept & smooth it out today:

    That's beautiful, Hal!

Is that MIS offramp from the AVE part of the standard NAM?

    Hal: Awesome... smoothness awesome! :D

@daTSchikinhed: That is part of the standard NAM, if I'm not mistaken it is under the AVE-RHW pieces, in the same loop where the AVE over RHW pieces are.

There's an AVE-4 A1, B1, and C1 ramp available, but you (obviously) need to have RHW downloaded. It is not part of the NAM by itself, but once you have RHW installed (which, for the record, will be bundled with the NAM itself along with every other NAM plugin starting with NAM 31), you'll find it under the Road Transportation menu.
