Thanks! I made a tutorial in the RHW interchange guide on how to build something like that: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=14060.msg422917#msg422917

Make sure you grab the RHW Slope Mod (now on the STEX) or something similar before you undertake this design, or else you'll have trouble properly sloping those loop ramps.

Haljackey this is almost unoffically your thread. I think you've add the most pictures (lol)

I looked at your last interchange you posted and made a few spin offs of it. Some parts are not really "needed" but I wanted to fool around with all the new parts I've nevered used, mostly FAR.

Comments welcome, also I'm in need of transparent floor Freeway Signs. Seeing a grass lot in the middle of my desert just, bothers me to the point I rather have no signs. I've only been able to find ones for Maxis freeways, and one other set that for some reason function as very small police stations...

My favorite creations, I don't have the patience for downloading enough lots/bats to make good looking cities, and instead spent my time on making what i consider to be realistic looking interchanges. Being restricted to a grid makes that a little harder, but you work with what you've got.

    First: An original interchange

    iegCa.jpg

second: A not quite recreation of the I-85/I-40 split on the east side of Greensboro NC. Some minor changes were made to make it work in simcity.

    Gnqv5.jpg

Third: Another original interchange, this one is "under cunstruction" as i wait to see what kind of overpass and entrance/exit ramp support is added in NAM31, otherwise it will become an expressway+collectors.

    rwlyB.jpg

Fourth: the interchange of I-85/I-485 on the west side of charlotte NC, left out a basket weave diamond on the west side.

    My new interchange:

    intersect5.jpg

    a 90 degree RHW-4 turn and a RHW-4 fly-over would have been very useful.

Thanks man! I figured a sunken would look better than an elevated. It's basically a partial Y with a level intersection.

Just wanted to pop in and say great work all!

That stack interchange is properly graded, The only thing that would make it better is smooth curves for the elevated MIS (and of course milti-level RHW networks :P)

Josh6, nice use of the Double Decker. I'm still messing around with it, but because of how early it is (limited ramps etc) it's not useful for me just yet. Nice to see someone got use from it.

One of a kind interchange, between Highway Route 123 & Highway Route 98, Highway Route 123 features an El-Rail system down it's middle which has 3 phases to go, connecting it properly to Downtown, helping ease traffic (2 each direction).

While I enjoy these interchanges, and completely respect the right of their existence, I am curious as to why anyone would want an interchange the size of a city?

I'm not trying to be negative here, I'm just curious. :)

Because they're realistic in a nutshell.

And besides, some people just want to create massive highway interchanges simply because they can! That's the beauty of SimCity 4 and the RHW project! :D

For the most part, they are, especially when you find out that MHW items are 50% underscale. Just knowing the measurements of MHW was enough to make me switch to RHW for good. (Then I became a developer.)

Besides, remember my teaser cloverleaf? If you can almost fit the MHW cloverleaf within one of the loops, you know you have an accurately-scaled cloverleaf.

Wanna go smaller? Be my guest. There are also ways to make RHW interchanges that are at least twice as big as the MHW items.

I understand that. I mean, yeah I really enjoy the interchanges, it's really creative, and they are realistic, it just makes me realize how small our maps are to work with :/

    Sorry if I insulted anyone!

Play with only the largest city tiles, then string multiples of those and pass it all off as a single city. Problem solved, and you have a realistically-scaled city, too.

Plenty of room to have even your wildest RHW interchanges that way.

I've really just started with RHW, haven't even incorporated it into a real city yet. I want to use it, but I can't figure out how to make it small enough for my taste.

You have to space thing's out a little. Build your downtown and then build other town's spaced apart about 10 or so tiles. You will have a lot of space for RHW. And, don't expect cars to use your RHW right away. Give it time. Also, practice building compact interchanges. And practice with on/off ramp. They actually work when your RHW gets crowded.

I know, I just haven't figured out how to make it compact, yet.

There are all kinds of sizes, and interchanges you can make. From the sizes of whole city tiles, too more compact ones. The one above me is a nice four way stuffed into an area and it serves it's purpose.

The only limitation is your imagination/or limitation of RHW.

Keep messing around, and don't forget to see the interchange guide.

Nice job using the Maxis interchange pieces.

Net time however (and this goes for all Simtropolis posts), please only post one post at a time. You can put multiple images in a single post, and you can edit it if you want to add more after.

Will be looking forward to seeing more of your work though.
