Metarvo, I am beaten.  Your compact interchange wins. I had tried to do something like what you did previously but with a RHW4 and RHW4 T.  I couldn't get it to work.  I tip my hat to you, sir.

My favorite interchange, however, remains Hey_man's on page 8.  If this was a competition, he'd have my vote!

Anyway, more from me:

That same interchange, built up and landscaped:

And another junction completely:

Hey! That's that one V-like interchange, like that one they want to build in, I think Provo, Utah! But it's ground level. Really cool!

And don't think I've forgotten others. Indiana Joe, your interchange looks a lot better with the landscaping. Nice and compact. Nicely done!

Metarvo, that's really nice with all of those sweeping curves and such. Good job!

Wait a minute. How did you get the tunnels for the RHW4? For me, it's just shown up with the city background (which is normally the blue squares but I replaced with a star texture).

And Indiana Joe, does that third highway tie into both of the other two and is just an uninterrupted route through, or is there something I'm missing here?

Thanks for the help. I would have never thought of that.

Also, I do have an interchange picture (which was taken before with that issue):

Georgetown Interchange

Ignore the silly little UDI icon in the bottom corner.

And the great thing is that you can't really tell that the tunnels are one way roads that turn into RHW

That would be a separate highway that serves as a business route from another part of the city to the industrial park where many of those sims work, and no, it's not connected there.  I put it in when I realized that almost 20,000 people (6.gif) used the highway above it (now RHW) as a relief network.  Then I turned the original Maxis highway into RHW-6, but with how fast my city was growing the Business route was still being used.  I saw no reason to connect it to the other highways in that particular area.

I'm honored by your curiosity!

The Original Orion Interchange in the City of Everett

Note: North is to the left, on all images

everettintv11.jpg

The original Interchange, designed to handle Rural traffic, slightly modified to include additional exits for local industry.

The South End of the Interchange

The Western section of the Interchange interfacing I-154 with F-15

Orion Interchange 2.0

everettintv21.jpg

The new Northern section of the interchange, allowing for better connections between Northbound I-15 and Westbound I-154, with limited connections between Eastbound I-154 and Northbound I-15, due to low traffic volumes.

everettintv23.jpg

The Southern section of the interchange, where the divergence originates.

everettintv22.jpg

New modification to the I-154/F-15 interchange to eliminate the connection to Eastbound I-153, as there was no way to easily connect to Southbound I-15, and little demand for Northbound I-15.

SR-71 Bypass Intersection in the City of Newbaum

For some reason, the sims in Newbaum really enjoy using SR-71, which causes many traffic issues near F-30, so I built a bypass under the freeway, just to the East of SR-71. It diverges in the South with a simple intersection, the Northern junction is much more involved.

Nice discovery with the inside Type-B ramps metarvo! I already have some ideas where I might make use of them 10.gif.

It's also nice to see some new approaches with Maxis highways and elevated avenues, along with the other good work. There are always some new ideas to be discovered.

Meanwhile, I had another go at building diverging interchanges with the RHW 4, this one being a high capacity DDI type.

DDI_HiCapacity.jpg

If there is a need for a narrow footprint, this next interchange should do it. It's quite long, but nowhere exceeding 8 (or 7) tiles in width (except at the smooth right turn curves at the center).

SDI_compact.jpg

Always going for complexity and just for the fun of it, I built another 5-way interchange. Although it might look as if there's a lot of weaving at first sight, there actually is none. Some necessary lane shifts are involved to reach certain directions, but no paths have to cross each other.

5way_perspective.jpg

Some pages ago someone brought up the idea of building the Spadina-401 interchange in Toronto, CA. I took this as a challenge and tried to build an RHW version of it. It deviates a bit from the original plan as i took GoogleEarth as a reference. Thus the railway lines and the different collector-express links. Additionally, there is a different connector layout in the south than on the plan.

McDuell, I really like that 4-way interchange that's long and skinny. I won't use it because I'm a total space conservation freak, but nice anyways.

Nothing fancy, just a 4-way intersection of RHW-2 that I thought came out well.

Excellent Interchanges everywhere, here are two of my own,

?action=view&current=Windmill-StackVariaWindmill-StackVariant.jpg

A variant of the Windmill/Stack interchange that's a little less compact. Mostly because I make highways with medians

UrbanInterchange.jpg

And an urban interchange of some type, kinda inspired by the double y interchange by Patricius Maximus

They are FLEXFly pieces that are part of the new RHW.

These interchanges are really inspiring! They look awesome

Well here's one of my own... I had meant for it to be a small interchange at first, but due to the difficulties with terrain and getting pieces to fit right, I ended up with this. It took forever to make, and probably won't get nearly the use that it's designed for, but I like how it turned out.

That's the flexfly with NAM/RHW.There is a texture problem with it where it crosses the hwy, but I was told that will be fixed in the next version.

Hope you enjoy!

*EDIT*: I love how the picture shows up on mine.... Ugh, should be fixed now.
