@newcrusader92

1 - yup

2- yup

3- yup

4- yup, but actually I was trying to circle the new transition pieces

5- yup

6- it doesn't go demented any more. But it is still wealth dependent, ie zone commercial near it and bricks appear.

7- That exists (maybe its the quality of the pic) but i circled a type D interchange.

@Blue Lightning is that so - but the Mis Ave transition always was a bit doggy but now its fine. Yeah - first non-NAM team member - I'll change it. Have you noticed any problems with SAM? I have all three of the new releases installed (Yup - finally the NWM) All of my SAM roads have dissapeared 15.gif so I'll re-install it.

OH and btw. is your T21 elevated network mod compatible with V4.0?

So it seems as if I uploaded the last interchange before RHW 4.0. I'll upgrade that one to 4.0 later. For now, here's my first endeavor in RHW 4.0.

I was hoping that this basketweave was made before Haljackey made one. Click for full size.

majorpickhead: You should try the new RHW-2 to MIS T piece (not sure what it's called). It turns a straight RHW-2 (replace the road that connects to the ramp with RHW-2, at least partially) into MIS splitting off into a T. Hard to explain, but you'll understand when you see the piece in your menu 4.gif That piece is ideal for that interchange.

Hi everyone. Great contributions all. (Way too many to compliment them individually 46.gif )

I haven´t posted for ages but now with the new NAM & RHW i decided to start a new region.

My playstyle may differ from yours but I like to at least lay the arterial networks before I start to build.

I hate to tear down buildings just to increase traffic flow, not very realistic, but hey it´s a game.

(Click images to see full resolution 1680x1050)

First image shows a Bridgehead and a dumbell intersection using the new FLUPS under RHW.

Click me for full resolution

Next one is a large interchange between two RHW 4 (I don´t know if this one got a name)

It was inspired by a post by twinsfan14 : www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm

Next up is a close up of the new fancy road markings.

Last image shows an overview of the area. (Yes I am planning a large harbour/industry on one side of the bridge)

Click me fory full resolution

Finally a great big THANK YOU to the people working on the NAM & RHW for making this game even better.

And as always comments, suggestions, criticism is welcome.

Edit : I just noticed I got a Trixie !  Thanks everyone who voted for me. I searched but could not find who nominated me.

Looks awesome =] Although you do have one mighty short weaving area in one of them 2.gif

I just started a CJ where one of my main goals is to become more experienced with the RHW. Link is in my sig and here are a couple shots.

majorpickhead: Nice and compact.

doorknob60: Although the piece you mentioned would add to the connection, there isn't enough place in the picture of majorpickhead. The joining lanes would have to be one tile further away from the bridge as you can't put a road overpass directly over the MIS starter stubs.

Btw, this is the piece:

RHW2_Tconnector.jpg

Owaen: I like the look of this interchange and the possibility that you can take U-turns on one of the highways. The weaving part at the overpass may be a bit dangerous though. (Why haven't they built a roundabout type or at least some collector lanes in Springfield? This would have taken the weaving from the main freeway.)

AIX: Nice 3-way interchanges. I like the idea with the railway line running parallel to the RHW. A small hint: You can easily enhance the pictures by turning off the ingame grid (just press 'g' to toggle it) 2.gif.

Meanwhile, I've been playing around with the RHW 4.0 as well. 9.gif

emgmod gave me some ideas with his basketweave, so I made one myself, trying to minimize the footprint of it. I managed to squeeze it to a width of only 10 tiles.

Basketweave.jpg

There is a new puzzle piece for making SPUIs:

NarrowSPUI.jpg

And another one for a DDI (diverging diamond interchange).

HiCapacity_DDI.jpg

A nice and small stack interchange. I haven't found a way to make a smaller full 4-way RHW interchange yet. (Actually, after comparing it with the stack/windmill, I'm not so sure anymore. Give or take a few tiles, they both seem to be about the same size)

FullStackMIS.jpg

The RHW 4.0 allows for so many different types of interchanges. Meanwhile it has advanced to one of the most FLEXible networks available.

A mix of a stack and a windmill:

Stackwindmill_compact1.jpg

Two parallel RHWs:

parallel.jpg

And the last for today, an ortho-diag turbine variant:

ortho_diag_1_100510.jpg

As always: click on the pics to view them full size (mostly 1600x1000).

Hope you like them 1.gif.

Thanks for inspiring me to create more interchanges, McDuell. Your interchanges are simply amazing. I can't even think of how to use the puzzle pieces the right way. I am going to take advantage of your interchanges. PS: The stack/windmill interchane is the best I've ever seen. Nice work!

Aldini10: I'm glad that you like my interchanges, thank you 1.gif.

cacks: If you call that small and compact interchange a mess, what will you call this one then? 9.gif

Detail from a part of the center (1600x1000):

TurbineRoundabout_detail.jpg

A more zoomed out picture (2217x1376):

TurbineRoundabout_overview_zoomin_b.jpg

And now the whole mess in a big overview (2655x1618):

TurbineRoundabout_overview_big.jpg

This monster has been done entirely with RHW 3.24. It's a fictional concept where I tried to use as many complications as possible. The main system consists of two highways with their own collector-distributor systems crossing each other. Both, the express and collector lanes have their own full interchange. The express system consists of a turbine interchange which is completely embedded in the inside of a roundabout interchange that takes care of the collector lanes.

Each straight directions allow for changing from the express to the collector highways (and vice versa). Furthermore, the eastern branch splits up into still another highway. I also built some connector stubs for later joining with the local traffic network. Four of them are directly integrated into the roundabout interchange system to allow going in every direction from each connector.

As always, I tried to minimize weaving, especially in the center highway; and every offramp in the roundabout is a left exit, so the traffic is always kind of spiraling inwards, thus avoiding the weaving on the ring as well.

Have fun, drive safely and don't take any wrong turns. You have been warned! 9.gif

Thanks for comments.

Based on those i made some improvements.

(Click images to see full resolution 1680x1050)

I changed the dumbell to a FLUPS-Diamond to increase the weaving zone a bit (Thx asteconn)

Click me for full resolution

I also changed the overpass to eliminate weaving altogether. (Thx McDuell)

Finally a new overview of the setup.

Ohh, and McDuell a monster is the least you could call that spaghetti jumble 9.gif

How long did it take you to plan that out?

I also like your windmill/stack.

I can make a simple road-RHW interchange. I can't make Mega-Interchanges. I just plop a simple Avenue roundabout piece instead of the large interchange. Yeah, I'm lazy like that.

I do believe that is a bowtie interchange. Though I think bowties are usually used for surface roads and artierials especally in Michigan, I still like it.

Anyways, I've got one of my own. I started it when RHW 3.0 came out, and only just recently finished it.

I don't think anyone will be able to create such an interchange. If anyone does, whoever it is must have a very creative mind, like McDuell. Great interchange, though.

I think such interchanges are very difficult to make with SC4.

Anyway: New interchange, thanks to RHW v4!
