Actually, they were done with Hole Digging Lots, but it took me a little while to realize it wasn't enough to flatten/smoothen either side of the hill, but actually had to dig a tunnel entrance as well. I kept trying to drag a tunnel with that one way road, but it would go ridiculously steep over the top. That makes the descent a little steeper than originally intended...  9.gif

I really like your interchange, jay_santacruz, even though (as you've pointed out yourself) some of the slopes are terribly steep. It's clean and compact. Nice!

Facing south. The northbound A-11 tunnel exit, and the split for the southbound A-11 heading for Victoria.

Thank you for the kind words, ROFLyoshi and Josh6. 1.gif

ryanb_sc4, that's really interesting, and very clean and nice as well. Great work! I had never heard of a SPUI until the latest RHW release, neither did I have the slightest idea of how to use the puzzle piece.. I've always thought of them as an American phenomenon, but looking at your picture I can see how it can be implemented in a European layout as well. Back to the drawing table. 2.gif

I wasn't brave enough to try and top Rionescu's 6-way interchange at the beginning of the thread, but I had never done anything larger than a 4-way, so I thought I'd attempt a 5-way.  I think it went pretty smoothly--despite costing 300,000 simoleons in the game.

The overview:

Overview.jpg

A close up of the southern area, where the fifth highway outgoing traffic connects in with the north-south highway:

south.jpg

The western part, where quite a bit is going on:

West.jpg

The north part, where you can see part of the fifth highway and its incoming ramps, as well as the north ramps for the cloverleaf on the N-S and E-W highways:

North.jpg

And the fifth highway, which ends in a tangle of ramps:

Fifth%20highway.jpg

I didn't do much for scenery, but Cycledogg's trees make anything look good.

It's been awile since I've viewed this thread and made a contribution, but I come to you all in need of help. I recently expanded this interchange

https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b299/thmsklly/Konradshohe.png

so the highway can move to the north allowing regional expansion. Well this is what I've came up with

https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b299/thmsklly/Intersection4.png

It seemed perfect till I realized I don't have a way for people coming from the east to get to the west side of the freeway without having to go north and make a u-turn. Now, I can easily solve this problem by using more space, but there comes the main problem. I've already destroyed half the industry and moved it north to accomidate this highway, and the north is full, which is why I'm expanding beyond this city. I wish to not destroy any more buildings so the space you see in the next few pitcures is what I have to work with. Also, I only have 21,000 simoleans and I like to play as realistically as posible so there is no cheating for me and I will take out a loan if the idea is a really good one.

https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b299/thmsklly/SC4/Intersection1.png

https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b299/thmsklly/SC4/Intersection2.png

https://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b299/thmsklly/SC4/Intersection3-1.png

So any ideas my fellow interchangians? Any help is appreciated.

Also, here's a couple of my past interchanges.

pic2.png

Not sure what I was thinking by putting those buildings in the colverleaf, but I guess it made sense at the time!

0001.jpg

I call this one the "What in God's name have you gotten yourself into intercahnge." I have more close ups if you'd like.

0009.jpg

As a daily commuter, I hate traffic and I hate inefficient highways, this design was an idea I had to make an efficient cloverleaf. Basically, you have "express" type lanes that bypass all of the on and off ramps by going under (north south) and going over (east west).

Just bringing my latest interchange/highway system...

Since its a rather large mosaic, I'll link it. LINK.

Made a map of it too: LINK

Compact SPUI

rawlings-mar._14__1151290298751.jpg

Jezus53: Just move the OWR ramp's (coming from the north) S bend up a tile, and build a RHW-4 to MIS splitter, attach the MIS to the OWR ramp and adjust the westbound to southbound ramp to have a 90 degree sharp turn (draggable) after the splitter. There should be enough space in the existing interchange to do so (as its all within the space of that loop ramp).

Also, that's pretty good work on that cloverleaf, in fact, back in 2009 I made of similar design, except I kept the through lanes above ground.

cloverleaf_h10_h31_exit1ab_exit_3ab.jpg

I don't know what to put here anymore.

this is my attempt at doing something with the RHW, in one of my Asian styled cities.

I am new to the RHW, so there still seem to be some problems with it...

I finally got a fix going for my problem. Instead of splitting when the west highway intersects the North/south highway, I simply split it ahead of time and avoid any unneeded headaches for my sims!

Blue Lightning: Thanks for the tip. I was away this weekend so I didn't get your advice till after I figured out my work around. Thank you for the help though.

Cacks, those are amazing mosaics. REally beautiful night shots. And that rail interchange looks so clean. I love it!

This is something I made last night. I needed to transition to RHW-2 from RHW-4 But I couldn't really make anything clean. To me, throwing an uneeded s-cure to go into an s-curve transition just looks horrific. Anyways, I knew I needed an off ramp to begin a town and I need to transition from RHW-4 to RHW-2 and viola! I cam up with this beauty. It's simple and works. Just how I like it!

So this is a highway I've been working on recently. It's the first of a couple of small, complicated, high capacity highways in my region, designed to fit in tight, dense areas, as a connector to other highways for area's unsuitable to have a main highway running through it. Long story, I know. This is also the first time I used the FARHW pieces 9.gif It isn't finished yet and I also haven't started developing yet. I'll show more pics once it is.

(Nearly) the entire highway. At least, this is the bit I've done so far 3.gif

northpointxpwy1.png

Entering the city.

northpointxpwy2.png

The first interchange. It took an annoyingly long time to get it right.

northpointxpwy3.png

The second interchange,  which is pretty large. So here's the first bit...

northpointxpwy4.png

...and this is the second bit.

northpointxpwy5.png

Also, nice interchanges everyone! This thread gave me a lot of ideas.

Here is one that ended up being weird for weirdness's sake. The waterfront will be luxury housing and a high tech industrial park will be on the other side of the motorway. City: Dubai Colony.

Well I'm really not dead - I'm quite alive in fact.

Well the story starts off with my city tile, to the left, bottom and right are cities, and i need to connect them. sounds fun yes? 3.gif

full%20Zander.jpg

So I start my project - but I was yet to know what I had gotten myself into.

pic%20for%20palpatine001.jpg

(note the standard resolution of my monitor 3.gif)

And so after some hard work.... and lots of pondering this happened:

pic%20for%20palpatine001-2.jpg

I then finished the interchange but realise that the road connection of the left is not neccessary.... at all. So i then had to reconstruct LOTS:

N13%20-%20N4%20in%20Eastern%20Pass.jpg

And then in the end I finished it off by making it just that little bit more complicated and rainy:

N13-N4%20interchange-8.jpg

On an unrelated note... I felt like making a mosaic

derzandevalley2.jpg

and

ribonmosiac2snowfail.jpg

(this one is quite old 3.gif)

All pictures are clickable for full resolution! 4.gif

enjoy, Cacks

@Blue Lightning: Could you explain (maybe with an small "tutorial") how do you place the sign into the pic with the proper inclination? I mean, how do you go from a simple image to the "sign" in game without distorting the pic proportions? I've tried with a non-GIMP program without many success, I guess this can be done with the GIMP but I have no clue about how to do it...
