God, they look so big from the air, lol. When you get used to driving over several 4 times a day on work runs, they begin to seem tiny.quote>

Funny you guys happen to bring this up shortly after I finish this strange interchange that I thought that I invented LOL.  Well at least I now know the name of what I just made.

andreharv: Wow, that's neat! One minor issue I spot is the length of ther slip roads (entry/ exit lanes) is way too short to be realistic, as the gradient of the slope would be too much for most cars to handle. But that aside, great work!

Between the M6 and the A426 near Coventry

There are variations of this, such as here:

9.gif

Which is called a Dumbbell roundabout. It works much the same as a normal one, but has a dedicated roundabout for each direction.

Also, you can have modified ones with extra turn lanes. Here's one on the M1/ M62 junction near Leeds:

42.gif

Of course, there are some really messed up ones if you know where to find them:

6.gif

M42/ A45 near Birmingham

7.gif

M42/ M6/ A446, also near Birmingham

1.gif

M40 (A40)/ A4020 and A412

And this one, which is my favourite:

14.gif

Which is the turning off the M25 for the Heathrow link road/ A3113 towards London.

Confused? I'm just scratching the surface 9.gif! Visit http://www.cbrd.co.uk for more crazy junctions!quote>

I can't see them!

Has anyone here made a RHW-4/6 4-way interchange yet? I've been working on one but have been unsuccessfull.

    andreharv: Interesting... It looks similar to one photo in the NAM threads. Did you know the stack interchange started like this?

    City2TheMax: There was a full RHW cloverleaf interchange posted a few pages back. I haven't created a 100% pure RHW/RHW interchange yet.

    This is a trumpet interchange which is later enlarged by adding a 4th direction. It's from my region Imaginia and in this interchage, the A 12 and the A 31 come together:

    This evening, I dug this up from one of my older regions. It is a highway spur, and most efficient for traffic. The concept has been used before, but I have never seen anything like this:

    And, you have a good trumpet interchange there, mrtnrln.

    The traffic circle with crossing roads looks exactly like several interchanges in Guangzhou, China. Many of them have one highway remain at ground level, one highway as an underpass, and the traffic circle as an overpass... or sometimes the circle is at ground level and sandwiched between highways...

    That interchange up the top is called a volleyball interchange. Common in UK and QLD Australia...

    I finally found some time to play with the RHW v20 again, and decided to create a 4-leaf clover with dedicated ramp lanes;

    I've decided to make the main highway overpass over the other highway, and the ramplanes underpass. I'm not sure why, but it came out pretty nice but unrealistic.

    Zoomed out:

    Other angle with flora:

    Here are a couple of mine.  Not as nice as most i've seen, but they appear functional.

    If anyone spots any flaws, lemme know, as i was really just inspired to make these because of this thread.

    Heres one to allow access into an industrial park off a freeway (thru access also available)

    its a bit confusing b/c the puzzle peices dont have the arrows, but its easy to trace it once you know the direction.

    intersection.jpg

    and this is just a compact cloverleaf alternative (slighly lower capacity 2.gif )

    damn capser, beautiful cloverleaf! I dont see whats unrealistic about it other than maybe the type A/B ramps, these are prone to traffic problems in real life, but everything just looks fantastic! it looks like you have plenty of room to make it a C ramp and have the third lane extend out as well.

    one of the nicest full interchanges i've seen on here in a while tho well don! . I have some pretty interesting designs I've been working with i'll hopefully get them posted as soon as I get some time.

    mrt - your pic is really dark, but interesting interchange but how would A 12 West get to A 31 south?

    dougall, welcome to the forums! looking good but if you are into interchanges and things like this, check out NAM and the Rural Highway mod and the Street Addon Mod while youre at it.

    YES! If somebody else has done this already, then I will feel quite silly. However, I have successfully made an express/collector highway that is fully functional and can link the express and the collector together successfully!

    Here's a picture.

    expresscollectorhighway.jpg

    As you can see, this isn't really in any specific context. I was just playing around with RHWs to see if I could pull this off. However, I will try to use a couple of these in the CJ that I will be working on for the next couple of months. Feel free to use this. The express is a ground highway, and the collector is an RHW-4, though I used one way roads for the sideramps from the express.

    Thanks for the tips!  I've been a member for some time now, but nothing impressive enough to post in a CJ or anything 4.gif

    I've got the latest NAM, and am going to try RHW once im more comfortable with the nam.  im unfamilliar with the street add on tho, can you give me a link?

    Hey ya'll.  I have been working on my lofthouse interchange trying to get the onramps a bit longer and thus somewhat more realistic.  Here's a pic of what I have so far.

    <img src="http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/7210/lofthouseinterchangezf8.th.jpg" border="0" />

    In the meantime, I have completed the model for a diagonal to orthoganal trumpet model...with the experience that I got from the lofthouse, I think that I did a better job on this one.

    <img src="http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/6522/trumpetinterchangeby1.th.jpg" border="0" />

    Let me know what you guys think...also, someone please tell me how I can host pictures on this forum and what the acceptable size is for pictures.

    andreharv: That trumpet is amazingly well done! The roundabout's sliproads still need to be lengthened somewhat though. But other than that, I think these could make a significant impact to the game! KUTGW!

    andreharv- The trumpet is great. It would really help me out with some of my freeway interchanges. As for the roundabout interchange... why don't you make the roundabout smaller? that would give you room to extend the slip roads. Or you could make it a little lower and the slope of the slip roads won't be as great. Great job with both.

    andreharv: Wow, excellent trumpet model! I would post that in the NAM threads if you haven't already. The NAM team is currently @ SC4D, but they can give you some pointers on how to make that model an actual interchange!

    some new interchanges i whipped up.. mostly experimenting with connecting the inner lanes to act as exits and entrances and in the second pic: plenty of lanes for the most heavily traveled directions (southbound -> eastbound during morning rush and west -> north during the evening rush)
