you really think so?  I'd have to say that Mulefisk's is the most realistic by a LONG way! (at the top of the page) just looks perfect, all to scale, the roads fit together beautifully.  th only thing missing is  road sign or two before the junctions!

Last night, I was reading about express-collector systems, and I thought that I would make a superhghway for one of my regions. At major points for commuting, slip ramps provide access to other lanes, thereby eliminating the need for U-turns at offramps.

Click for full resolution.

An overview of the western portions of it:

The southern approach to the trumpet interchange, with slip ramps for connectivity:

The loop ramp of the trumpet interchange, with commuter slip ramps.

(Don't worry: The R$ is just there for temporary experiment purposes, it'll surely be R$$ later2.gif):

To give the Sims a better path than detouring to make a U-turn, I installed this series of ramps for the evening commute:

Patricius Maximus, your collector system idea is great! Though, your RHW-4 turns into RHW-2 very often. All you have to do is drag the Rural Highway-4 over the RHW-2 and it will turn into a RHW-4. For curves just drag to the start of the curve and the curve will turn into RHW-4. You might not have done this but as a lookout for future RHW, under bridges you will have to look to see if the yellow line is facing outwards and the white line inwards. When I did my test for the RHW-4 I drove on every on-ramp and off-ramp AND all the lanes to to get maximum performance. These are almost all the things you need to make a perfect RHW-4/RHW-6.

Well that looks really cool! But how do you do that on Sim City 4?

I have the game and I cannot figure out how to make tunnels underground like you have it. Please help!

First of all -- thank you. Glad that you like it. As I said before, the idea only hit me yesterday.

Also, the curve puzzle pieces are what's causing the illusion of an RHW-2 being there instead of an RHW-4. I don't know why the pics enhance that look, it doesn't look like that in-game 42.gif.

Anyway, here's an local/express system in use around the Potomac River in Arlington, VA:

I found it using Google Earth. I'll be looking forward to seeing some more creations.

Wow, everyones interchanges are great!

Heres one of mine (the only one I took a picture of):

Calgary-Oct20041207321150-1.png

The picture was taken before the completion of I-354 (This one shown)  and I-554 (One that has an Interchange west of here) that is the reason for no traffic.

Actually, this is I-395, its not a true collector setup, it is just some roads paralleling a highway with seperated HOV lanes. I-270 North and West of Washington DC is a true colletor/distributor setup. Cant find a good pic ATM

Oh, I didn't zoom out more, but it did look like one 21.gif.

    Anyway, here's a pic of I-270:

It looks more like mine than I-395. I'll have some more in the coming days.

Nice job Soulchaser!  I would recommend changing the picture from a PNG to JPEG though, so everyone can see it.

About everyone talking about a Collector/express/distributor system, look no further.

    -Distributors on the outside

    -Collectors midway

    -Express inside (centre)

I have attempted to make this in SC4 in many occasions, such as this one, using the Multi-RHW concept:

Or this one, using the multi (split) highway concept:

Hey Dan, where did you go to find the mod to override the background on the streets. I know the pedestrian malls came from the NAM, but I would really like to find out how to make the background on the streets the same patterns.

Ha! It is the basketweave in Toronto between 400 and Keele St. on the 401! The worlds buisiest freeway with more than 500,000 cars daily. Request I would like to see an interchange with 100,000 cars daily (evening and morning). This game has been moved to Guess Where This Interchange Is? thread in the forum games.
