First of all they are on the correct side of the road if you live in England. I always choose the left-hand-drive version of NAM which comes with additional TULEP and texture support for UK styled roads. The lakes are Diggis ponds which can be found on the LEX.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

For those of you who have been watching this thread for a while, you may remember this interchange I made back in Late 2011:

interchange2.jpg

Believe it or not, this is the same interchange, except redone because I thought the old one was incredibly tacky and unrealistic; I added highway shields to help understand how it works:

twotrumpets2.jpg

Around the same time, I made this interchange in a sandbox region:

interchange3.jpg

I also redid it to fix the problem of lack of merge lanes and other issues:

What do you guys think?

I recently updated the central interchange in one of my older cities in order to widen the mainlines and include all sorts of niceties like fractional angle ramps, cosmetic pieces, and merge lanes--or at least as much as I could without dramatically changing the interchange's footprint.

Check out the original version from October for comparison! It was my first ever four way RHW interchange!

Cool interchanges and cities, everyone.

Here's a before/after set of an interchange I redid yesterday.  I turned the partial-Y interchange here into a trumpet when I realized that the original interchange didn't take into account a major route that commuters would need to take. Unfortunately, there's a little weaving with the new design and the next interchange down the highway, and I had to take up some of what was originally land which could be built on within the first ramp. I'm happy with how well the sloped loop ramp turned out; I wanted to use ground fill instead of the elevated puzzle piece from Project Symphony, and it's always so difficult to make the smooth curves behave on a slope.

(this one's more of an intersection, I'm not entirely satisfied with how it turned out)

I am squeezing a tight one here, an odd sort of trumpet:

The highway will continue as an undersea tunnel. I plan on building a park on the vacant land.

Wow, that's a great interchange! I love seeing really compact RHW interchanges like this.

I know, I'm double-posting but it has been a couple of days and I have a newly created interchange to share. It's a parclo/diamond hybrid that replaces a generic and boring RHW diamond interchange I had there before. Apparently, I didn't consider the original interchange to be anything special because I never took a decent screenshot of it. Anyway, here's the new interchange, all spruced up with trees:

Signs and lights still have to be added.

It's okay, we generally allows double posts if it's been a matter of time and significant new information is being added (in your case, lovely piccies!)

I take it this is a housing estate part of your city? Looks nice.

Thanks! And yes, this particular tile consists of mostly suburbs at the foot of a mountain, so it's aptly named "Mountain View." I zone commercial around any road/avenue junctions as well as interchanges, so this particular area will have a good amount of commercial zones. There will not be any industrial zones in the city; with a larger city next door providing jobs, hopefully this will work out fine.

I assume thats impossible with the current NAM? Amazing stability there!

Define stability.

Oh by the way, there is a video of the same interchange; this marks the fourth timelapse video I've made.

Wow! Ganaram! That 2-Lane Road must be so crowded at rush hour! Love the video!

Well, been a while since I posted in here (by which I mean it's been a few years), but I decided to get back into SimCity with a bang. Unfortunately, there was too much bang, and I ended up with this half-finished mess:

Manzano-Jul9051402974220_zps6731e74c.png

I had to pause halfway through in fear of my sanity. Essentially, I tried to intersect two 8S highways, but with 4S's connecting EB to SB, and NB to WB (due to the locations of suburbs and downtown). I wanted a pretty interchange with smooth curves. I also decided that it was a good idea to do no planning prior to this endeavor (protip: don't do that)

Eh, lesson learned. Anyway, I also have this little guy, my attempt at the most compact folded diamond: (compact on the highway side, that is)

Manzano-Jun25021402812990_zps299f04ed.pn

That is all. I'll post pictures if I ever manage to get the first one done. With me luck :uhm:

My attempt at recreating route 110 and 10 interchange near downtown Los Angeles. I think this is one of the less crazy ones among LA interchanges.

Well, luck seemed to be in my favor, and I got it done, albeit taking a bit of a lazy way out of the other ramps by connecting them with an avenue (Those ramps were designed to handle less traffic anyway). But, all excuses aside, I present to you a mosaic of the final (but still mostly undeveloped) creation:

ManzanoInterchangeMosaic1_zps2e4bbcf6.pn

I will probably post again with any additional updates / when the surround areas are finished.

Edit: Fixed picture to greatly improve resolution.

Kei--Looks good, nice and complex. Big city interchanges are really works of art. However it'd look just a little bit more real to life I think if you used some fractional angle ramps and curves.

Samness7--I think that the folded diamond with the Ave-4 90 degree turns turned out really well, and you've definitely got that spaghetti junction feeling going with your larger project.

---

I built two new interchanges today for a collaborative Dropbox region that I'm working on along with a bunch of other people from the SimCity 4 subreddit. I thought they both turned out pretty nice, so here they are:

14284268978_9a5fd68359_c.jpg

This asymmetric trumpet was the first interchange I ever built using the C-type RHW networks. Hopefully the first of many.

14284269068_8607f92fc8_c.jpg

I think this parclo is the best of its variety that I've built so far. The development in the picture is the first area that I've actually built up so far in the region.

    Great work everyone!

Digging through some files... one of the more 'unique' diamonds I have made.

And here's a DDI with 2 lane ramps.

Nice looking interchanges. The second one DDI is quite an interesting design.
