Remember my broken cloverleaf thing few posts before? Made up my mind on building few things to test what suits this place perfectly. Came up with this as first interchange along the way.

HWY N-S is main arterial expressway running along the river. So i thought I'll use a real life exemplar in a SC4 way ( click ) and this is it's final form :)

WIP though, so I'll do beautification later. I must find somewhere on stex or lex MMPs :)

A cloverleaf/windmill... hybrid thing... Not quite sure what to call it. Probably could be compacted a bit in places.

(Click the image for a higher resolution image (assuming that I got the BBC markup right...))

P.S. This also counts as a teaser to my CJ. Hint hint. :P

Little something I've been doing.

I'm starting from scratch, as I had to format my hard disk, lost all my plugins.

Also, my laptop can't render shadows so well, so the quality isn't much.
More to come. Even more nicer and complex (I hope ) :D

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

All I have to say is that I am insanely impressed with the quality of interchanges in this thread. The quality of the work has been the best ever lately!

, the quality has been going up and up.

I am looking for more content for the RHW Interchange Guide. In fact, a few categories still have 0 guides. If you're interested in making a guide please send me a PM or post to Interchange Guide Submissions. Thanks!

Indeed, but looks cool; nice and tidy. What would bother me as a motorist is how you'd have to do a 3/4 circle for a left turn though and that circle's pretty long and would force you past 3 junctions... but I honestly wouldn't know what to do about that :D

It's a roundabout. In quite some cases, you don't even need signals, although, I've seen quite some roundabout interchanges in the UK where you do have signals. The thing is, you don't have to wait that long to take a left turn, which is often the phase you have to wait the longest time for...

    Simple, but effective...

    *Rotary Interchange*

    Best,

    Maarten

Now how did you make that look so neat and realistic? Witchcraft!!! Whenever I try make a rotary/roundabout/whatever interchange, they always end up looking really messy and horrible! I'm just going to copy yours in future  ;)

    Spoderman, pls.

still thinking about enhancing the t-bone with u-turn capabilities. give them sims u-turns. sims love u-turns.

I see T-bones are getting popular here :)

I've made myself one few days ago inspired by GeometryMath Algebra.

about the very most ugliest y-intersection I've ever built, but it's hard to go diagonal... oh I wish the RHW guys would focus on enhancing diagonal capabilities rather than anything else...

there's multiple-level, multiple width, flex stuff but yet only rhw4-mis diagonal ramps and no diagonal transitions...

Just finished this one last night... Some of my best work yet! :D

Its the last intersection of a double ring expressway that's joined like a figure 8 with the main N/S highway running through the middle. Part of my "Epic Region" I've been working on little by little through the years. I've planned and laid out all major highways, expressways, railways, GLR, HSR, Subway networks, and main arterial road infrastructure before I zone anything. Now that the new NAM allows for such much more diversity in highway interchange construction, my vision is starting to come forward quite well...

I decided to put my hands on the y interchange again, still not perfect (to me) but much more pleasing than the first version...

Inspired by Fatjuice888's interchange, this 8S T interchange exceeds its 5 wide footprint by only 7 tiles.  XmSr6f9.jpg

I am flattered, really. To be an inspiration to some! :D

Although my work isn't as close to Haljackey's or Mandelsoft's xD

Thanks. You just inspired me to do something - we'll make a chain of inspiration for the people here :)

So everything here is a little test I've been doing on how to make my cities, to say the least I think it's grown out of a 'test'.
You can see the ginormous interchange in the center, as well as express lanes. You can see where I was going to continue express lanes but ran out of room.

Looks unique but why not try something like this? It would simplify/untangle it and be more direct for commuters.

One of my new interchanges is starting to get some use (development now on two sides of it)

    01TEIeP.jpg

EDIT: I just noticed I could do this to make the ramp curve smoother and the interchange smaller in size.

    091Bb5N.jpg

Edit 2: How's this? Didn't make the interchange much smaller but it helped straighten out that ramp, even without a smooth curve piece.

    WABJaJf.jpg

It's an expressway-to-freeway connection so smooth curves aren't needed, by my standards anyway (only freeway-to-freeway connections must require them).

    That's a transition piece and thus I can't put a ramp on it.  ;)
