keep up the work, it is great :D

p.s. could you (in the future) build something like this: Sarajevo_Twist_Tower.jpg

it is called Avaz Twist tower and it is situated in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina.

That would be great :golly:

    REPLIES

Thanks to everyone for their comments! I really enjoy reading them! (:

As for the ones who await replies...

@harwaitforitris - That twisting tower is very interesting and all, but it's not in my personal taste! :b But who knows, sometimes I make miracle buildings and decide to do something I thought was out of my game before :b

@newyorka - Tropical skyscrapers aren't my thing, but with my recent Ontario Creation Team project we see a lot of Miami-like buildings here in Canada-land! So who knows, maybe you'll see something like that on the STEX soon (:

@Paris - I personally love that building, but right now my focus is on Ontario, and finishing up my current BATs! I'm sure someone like Simfox will get around to it. There are a lot of details that need to go into this one, and right now I barely have the time to do such a great building!

@Darknono35 - Yeah I'll get around to the Manitoba Hydro Building... actually this week I was going to buy a camera but haven't had the time to shop around for one. My $1,100 Canon was stolen on New Years... so when I get a camera I'll go take my own personal needed photos of the building and start BATting from there. I managed to get a copy of the blue prints when the tours were on, and got Google on my side to help me with dimensions, so it's all about the details I need at this point (:

@IL.- You double poster you! :b... And no I'm not selling any of my models. The illusion that they're solid well built buildings is only an illusion... in virtual world, they're full of polygons that get somewhat messy. Uploading them involves releasing 3rd party material such as Onyx models, Arroway textures, etc... and since I know I'm the only going to be using the 3dsmax scene file my object naming is horrendous! If I'm watching Simpsons and can't think of a name for a box that arrays 30 stories and I've used the names mullions and frames... I'll name that box SPIDERPIG001 and array it. So it's quite ridiculous with what you'll find in my scenes! Lol

@Evandad - Yes! I plan on becoming an architect. I've taken seminars and mini-u classes and figured that they have quite a bit of math! But I love it, and I'm a great problem solver. I create the most random algorithms in my head for the strangest conundrums! Hopefully I will get into the H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture at the University of Toronto for 2014. 2013 is my financial year where I'll personally need to take care of things before becoming a full time student (:

@rjamesp - I'll be posting a small tutorial in the coming week! It's not that hard really (:

    EIGHT AVENUE PLACE I

So this is my most requested building next to the Manitoba Hydro Building! And yes I know a 2nd tower is already under construction, but my BATTING technique has changed over the year from a million primitives to efficient polygon and proboolean modelling. So I need to clean scenes and get them in the green zone before work continues... but here's how the complex looks as of Feb 1st, 2013. The one I'm BATting is on the left. It's sibling (a mirrored shorter version) is being built on it's right.

    8431110093_d41915fd05_z.jpg

Here's how it's supposed to look...

    pennylane12us8_zps9c411b78.jpg

So with the new addition of my new tech discovery in efficient modelling I've recreated it as this...

    EAPI-Day-001_zps20b7db4c.jpg

It fits in a 3x5 (if I remember correctly lol *too lazy to open it up*). I've recreated it more accurately, but during the creation of it I discovered that the roof is not what it actually seems to be...

    6691894447_d7aae01d96_b_zpsf392a469.jpg

So in act to this photo, I've reconfigured the roof structure of the BAT. Of course with poly editing I've already detached most of the polygons because I work better that way, but am struggling with the efficiency of it! First of all I should've finished the basic structure of the roof then detached to properly UVW and texture the damn thing! :b

But overall the building is going great! I've modelled the building in sync with the 2nd tower so when I'm finished with the first tower I can slice the skyscraper in the precise position to create the 2nd tower instead of doing it over. At this point, I have no idea what I'm doing for the night lights... If I recreate the inside of the skyscraper it will take longer, and might be worth it!

As for the glass, I used this image as a reference...

    6191159122_763053c424_b_zpsc01d8ba8.jpg

It's a little earlier in the day of what Simcity 4 is, but it shows high reflectivity. Something that I disagree with but can abide by for the sake of realism! :b

ROUGE PLACE (TO BE RENAMED CARMINE HILTON PLACE)

I owe Carmine Hilton a building name since I've been saying I was going to do it for years now! :b

But this is what you'll probably see on the STEX before Bay Adelaide Centre in my OCT thread. (:

    Untitled-12_zps6eb02e7a.jpg

Depending on the political situation of Canada before the export phase, I might put the Canadian flag upside down and write a note about the awareness of the Idle No More protests going on internationally to bring awareness to the Canadian Government. I'm not involved in the protests, but can do my part in the awareness of it.

Not many people know that Canada has a dark history of killing tens of thousands of aboriginal children in an attempt to colonize and religiously convert them, and before that... Settlers and aboriginal created ancient treaties. The treaty was that each party shall be at peace with one another and in exchange for land + resources vs. Indian Reservations, tax breaks, and for each aboriginal to live in prosperity.

Instead the Canadian Government took the land along with the resources and are currently attempting to abolish and/or change the treaties... which has one of Canada's largest racial majorities upset. I'm not asking people at Simtropolis to protest or anything, but it's a time in Canada's history that will be written! Since the website itself is Canadian... the awareness of history in the making is intriguing!

I myself am Aboriginal, but I pay 100% of all taxable items, I never have collected the treaty payouts, nor do I use the treaties for anything to my benefit. I believe that the treaties themselves need to be updated to help self-sustain aboriginals rather than have the Government pay-out money to them. Once aboriginals and indian reservations have the power to self-govern it will be like having hundreds, even a couple thousand of small countries within Canada. Self sustained, and independent. Rather than having bans on businesses, and needing permission slips to leave the indian reservations. Most aboriginals call this suppression... I honestly do view it in a suppressive way, but it's a chance for change.

So this is why you MIGHT see the Canadian Flag upside down in the BAT. I'm mainly aiming for awareness... who knows! Maybe the right eyes will view it... who knows, maybe the right ears might hear. Who knows... maybe even the right voice might speak! (:

    OPERA GARNIER!?

So I came across this at the LEX!

I downloaded it and made this render...

    temp4_zps427c9750.jpg

Then I made a sky render with the ORIGINAL materials included in the download...

    Opera-001_zps6d8d47ea.jpg

Then I found the download to the released exported version of it and came to this... -.-

    OperaDuGarnier-Jan12001359844019_zpsa2ad6c77.jpg

    BLAH!

Kind of disappointing how gmax ruins the beauty of structures like that! So I msged xannepan in request to revive, retexture, re-night, re-render, and reexport the building!

The real life building and lot doesn't have trees, but I made a quick park to show to xannepan some of the trees that could be included in the lot. At this point he/she hasn't replied. So I will be awaiting a reply before actually working on the building (:

    NZ5-001_zps071b7c42.jpg

I'd like to do a quick project like the Opera Garnier! and rerelease it than just more of a reward lot (:

But at this point I think I'll work on it anyway... shall xannepan not approve of a rerelease I shall tease you all with my own personal reexported version of it! > :)

But I'm trying not to start so many projects again... I got a 2 TB external hard drive just to keep up with myself. And this is a sample of what some of the 3ds max scenes are taking up! I save a scene several times over the phase of building simply because I don't want to get any opening errors (Like I've so disappointingly have done before).

    Untitled-2-1_zpsa699ecb2.jpg

The Richardson Building is a victim of this... but thank goodness it was! Because I would've never rendered it in 3dsmax if it went smooth! haha

But that's all for now! I'm sure everyone knows about my Ontario Creation Team thread already! (:

An update on this thread won't be for another week or so, but the OCT thread is updated as often as possible!

    Very nice bats my lord!

I personally don't support the conservative government and don't personally care about the federal government as a whole. I also deeply dislike Harper. But I oppose the Idle No More movement. It started protesting against like bill C-45 that the tories passed, yet now it's doing like Occupy Wallstreet and growing or moving in another direction to protest for the rights of the aboriginals of Canada. Well, what the hell. They're protesting for more rights, when they are actually having more rights than normal citizens. If it was just me, there would have been no reserves system (which is a giant joke and a shameful system), and aboriginals would be at the same status as normal citizens and pay taxes and therefore have the same rights as any other citizen of any ethnic background. All it seems to me is that Idle No More is a big protest for aboriginals to keep the treaties as they were and keep more rights even tho bill C-45 doesn't change much at all. Aboriginals are only victims of the big bad white people... bla bla bla. Stop using the white culpability phenomena, please.

I don't see any problem with protesting for more rights... and coming from an entire view point of both being Aboriginal and Caucasian I can safely say I agree with you on the reservation topic. Reserves were designed to fail in the first place for both parties.

    1) The restriction for aboriginals for the first hundred years on reserves was pure suppression.

    2) I have no idea why the settlers would agree to such a deal of supporting all aboriginals with a promise of prosperity. In my opinion from an economic point of view it's a disaster! Especially considering that in almost all provinces and territories aboriginals will be the majority.

Like I said earlier... I pay 100% taxes for everything that is taxable. The only aboriginals that can get away with taxes 100% are those in Ontario. Everywhere else we're taxed, which I personally don't mind. But at the same time it was something my ancestors had set-up for us. The reason why it seems why we have more rights is simply because the entire country was initially set-up under our focus. To shake the very foundations of a country is like uprooting a tree and changing the roots to see if it would grow better without the old ones. It's ridiculous, and really out of the ordinary. If America did this today... It would be a mess tomorrow. It's like trying to rewrite every law that will affect every citizen.

I agree with the whole "blame the white guy" thing also. But at the same time we don't tell the Nazi survivors to shut-up and suck it up... It's rude, and it's their point of view really. In time things like this will dissipate... but I do have to say that 90% of the racism I've received in my life has been of Caucasian descent. I'm not saying that everyone of them are like that... but it really makes you wonder why most aboriginals would say such a thing. If it were up to me... I'd make every human green! And see who complains now! :b

In my opinion... I hope that these treaties are centered in both the Country's favor, and the aboriginals. The Canadian aboriginals peacefully traded the whole country of Canada for prosperity and peace... while the American aboriginals traded New York City for beads... Kind of silly really. But these are the times when history is being written! Another chapter in Canada's history is being made. With both sides (Aboriginals vs. The non-aboriginal) standing in disagreement... It's going to be a changing time! At this time Harper himself is dumb-founded and the countries other parties are collaborating in calling him out.

It's not only aboriginals at this point.. rallies have been in several large countries around the World. And even teachers and his own members are striking or quitting because of his actions. Right now the Idle No More protests seem to be at the centre of it all because of the media... it's simply because there's more protesters to that vs. Provincial unions and other strikes.

Like I said, I'm not a participant of these rallies, nor do I totally agree with the treaties.

Here's a fun fact... All 1.1 million aboriginals get LESS funding than ALL the population of Newfoundland (500,000). So when you look at the ratio of money... the majority of funds is actually not towards us. Some things like running water we take for granted. Did you know that nearly 90% of Canada's northerly reservations of NO running water? This is the 21st century with trains that fly! Yes... trains fly... it's called maglev, search it up! :b

And people think that us aboriginals are trying to get "Free" stuff! Truth is... We've paid it in billions of dollars in land and trillions of dollars in resources.

Personally I could care less if my ancestors bargained for inflation for treaty payouts. I could care less about a couple pounds of potatoes, $5, and a handshake from a mountie!

Not all of us want "free" stuff here. Some of us just want what we paid for, or promises made by the Government. I'm sure if the Government promised every citizen prosperity for you and your bloodlines as long as the rivers flow, and the grass grows you'd hold it against them! hahah

Remind you all that some of us (particularly my family) are not all bums paying no taxes wanting free sh*t!

If I could have the World prosper and everyone's good desires were fulfilled... I'd make this World a great place! It's why I don't want the treaties to stay suppressive to Aboriginals, and burdened to the rest of Canada. It's why I don't participate in the rallies, and why I'm not totally in favor of the Harper Government (then again who is these days! haha)

I myself am a tax-paying citizen of Canada, but for those unfortunate something needs to change.

It's a shame how other countries have to AID some aboriginal reserves though! It's like reservations are third world countries. We can't do our own business, and we're held back with minimum funding. Cut the umbilical chord and let us flourish.

People don't fight for no reasons.

This is an embarrasing arcticle for both aboriginals and non-aboriginals of Canada...

"Muslims donate food to remote First Nation"

    http://www.cbc.ca/ne...h-donation.html

I don't know about you... but I think something reconcilable for both parties needs to change here! haha

Well, I don't want to cloud this thread with ugly political discussions, but I might as well give my perspective as a Canadian.

First off, I think the issue lies with the current treaties system, and with many of the chiefs who are corrupt and don't know how to manage a community. Many are over paid and fight for more rights not for the betterment of their people but rather for their own benefit. This is largely seen as the reason for the Idle no more movement, which was unfortunately for a time given Chief Spence as its poster child. Support overseas was quite small by the way, I think only 20 or so people showed at the protest in London.

I think rather than demanding more rights, and further separation from Canadian society, the move should be towards integration. Fact is, the country is already divided enough and we really don't need hundreds of sovereign pockets at every corner. We are a multicultural society, and the native peoples should belong to that society. Enough with looking at the past and blaming the descendants of those who caused the past grievances. Its better to look at ones self, and find the true reason for why ones life is where it is today. Rather than looking at us European descendants as colonizers look at us as countrymen.

    Just my perspective.

    @Altus

I totally agree with everything you said!

Believe it or not but just like how approval rate of a Prime Minister deteriorates once in office, it's the same thing with the Chiefs! At one point here in the past decade there was 0% aboriginals in the Aboriginal Affairs administration in the high parts of the Canadian Government! Isn't that ridiculous!? The Government could care less about how the money is spent, just as long as they can raise their hand and say "Yes! We gave them a lot of money... but we don't know where it went!"

As for that... it's why so many Chiefs were able to get away with this for so long. It's because the Government didn't care. They only did audits when it was requested... isn't it part of their funding to find things like this? Guess who else is mis-spending! As of two years ago audits of our reservation were finally made public, and our revenue was in the tens of millions! As soon as the Government knew we were making millions they cut our spending and left 15 families homeless. It's definitely not prosperity we agreed upon here. But considering the tens of millions we were making, we starting paying off the debt that had collected over the years in loans and interest.

There is always a bad bug in politics. White, Brown, Black, Red, Yellow... doesn't matter. But there are more salaries paid in a city of comparable size vs. an indian reservation.

And we're not demanding more rights... in fact we demand more of the things promised, and less of the restrictions upon us. The division between aboriginals will always be there so long that the treaties are in place. You're either a Status Indian or you're not. Personally I hate to be identifiable by a number. If you haven't been to a rally yourself you can see the diversity of races participating in Idle No More. In fact in the prairies we had peace rallies where we offered Hot Chocolate, and pastry to the public while we danced and sang in public for local entertainment.

It's really the media that displays this show of disconnect, hatred, racism, and drama. I wish I could tell all those affected by the Residential Schools that killed thousands of children to be over it. BOTH parties are offended by these horrible events... but some people will live with these memories, and scars of childhood abuse till the day of their last breath. There is no finger to point now... because really all those who had done the act have passed. But it's the past children whom are the elders of today, and those are the ones who want there story to be heard. Never forgotten... Just like 9/11 we don't go around to the families to be quiet and forget about it already. It's just something that we need to be compassionate about and listen.

In my personal opinion... Chief Spence did a courageous thing! No one fights for what they believe in like she did since Ghandi! haha

I don't see anyone else fasting themselves for 6 weeks over expensive transit bus fare! :b

Chief Spence was not on a hunger strike. She got all the nutrients she needed by drinking fish broth and meal replacement formulas. Ghandi had nothing and was starving. If it wasn't for her and the looming presence of corrupt chiefs I would have been behind the movement for the most part and I know many Canadians feel the same way.

As for governments never caring enough to change the system, they have tried to scrap the indian act on multiple occasions, but there was outrage on the native side (Probably provoked by the chiefs to keep their hold on power).

I never said hunger strike! haha, I said fasting... and rather having an older women starve than fast for support is a bit harsh in my opinion. Whether she was doing it for the rights of experimental mice or aboriginals... it was a good cause!

There is actually no proof that Chief Spence is a corrupt Chief, the recent audit only revealed of crappy bookkeeping. The financial records were considered invalid because of a number of reasons... they were there, but never considered. The past 10 years was not in Chief Spence's power.

You can't really scrap the Indian Act if one of the parties has done their part and the other hasn't. This is what I mean by reconcilable partnership for both parties. We paid in land and resources while you guys pay in treaties... unfortunately over the years bill by bill it just got more suppressive for aboriginals. In order to revoke the treaties would mean that both parties retrieve what is originally theirs... the aboriginals having their land and resources back while the Government keep their money that they hopefully can eat and survive off.

We oppose the Indian act because we know there's no way in hell that every Canadian that's non-aboriginal is going to give up their land for money. It's a very tight situation with little wiggle room for both parties... If the Government keeps the Indian Act and keeps their promise of prosperity (Which THEY imposed, not us) they will be bankrupt... scrap the Indian act and face turmoil by over a million of us (the fastest growing ethnic group in Canada).

At this point there's no power when it comes to Chiefs... If we could self-govern we'd control us... but at the end of the day the cheque book is written by the Government. Not us!

Edit: I like this discussion... It's been something I've been meaning to intend. As a native I'm labelled by every other ethnic group as a free loader savage wanting more for my corrupt chiefs... but that's all not true. I pay taxes (probably more than the average Canadian my age) and want what's best for both Aboriginals and Canada.

    EIGHT AVENUE PLACE I

So I did a lot more work on Eight Avenue... and it seems like the more I BAT it, the more I fall slightly out of love with it! haha

    EAPI-Day-002_zps3ac5bf3f.jpg

The base lot is not final... I need to create a generic version so I can release this tower separately. Modelling the real life base like this would mean bulky branched off mixed architecture of buildings all connected by a hallway. So for now I gotta do something elegant that can compliment the singleness of the separate tower. If anyone has some inspiration I'd like to see it! Because in my opinion the base of it is not working out so far! haha
