Hi,

I have a question about the automata. I really want a city where you can always see ALOT of cars, sometimes even traffic. How do I change something in the NAM to make it more realistic that way?

Using that cheat, the interchange looks like this: bigcityjun2110121749664ta1.jpg

Hi, I currently have the Nam installed but wanted to update it. I previously installed the traffic plugin radical custom special, it seems not to be working now so I wanted to update it and try to get this fixed.

So I was attempting to update my Nam and saw that the traffic plugin radical custom special file was not there.

Is there some reason for this?

Does this file not work?

I see on the installation instructions that it is listed there but when I go to install this with the installer it is just not listed.

I am interested in increasing capacities for all transporations.

Thanks in advance!

hello jabber..

Us the new traffic plug ins that come with the latest update of the name .. Traffic sim A or B..

which have great improved path finding over any previous traffic plug ins.. they come in 3 difficulties easy, medium or hard.. So im sure you will find the network capacities your looking for..

I would like to suggest traffic plug in B for you written by MOtt..

read all about them here..:

https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=124&threadid=96866&enterthread=y

and let us know what you think later..

Thanks, Brian

hi jabber..

Glad to hear you are enjoying the new traffic sims so far..

I think in time you will find out what the rest of us , whom have installed them

already know.. And that is that they are superior to any of the older pathfinding engines

in many ways.. !!

I had a few questions. I just reinstalled sim city on my new computer and I was surprised to find that the game was still very slow, despite my upgraded system. So . . . do turning lanes slow down the game? If so, are the turning lanes functional or are they just for looks? Also, what pathfinding plugin do you suggest to pick during installation for the best performance possible without slowing down the game? Finally, I have already worked on a city with the new NAM w/ turning lanes and the perfect pathfinding x5 plugins. If I reinstall the NAM with different plugins, will it screw up my city? If I want to change something, do I have to start my city over? Thanks

The following CDK files show up in the game as a brown box. I tried downloading the dependency file repeatedly. Everything I know, which is not much, and still I get the brown box. Do you know why? What suggestions would you have. Please relay to your staff that I think the modeling you do on Simtropolis is superior to all others. Also is it possible to have passenger ferries to small, secluded islands without roads? The following files is namely the brown boxes so far.

PEG-CDKM Marina

PEG-OWW2-SV Seaport Village

How do you make the passenger ferries work. I have repeatedly tried but they fail all of the time. For instance, Ellis Island and the Statute of Liberty islands has no roads, how do I get these ferries to work? My email is taedwards2000@hotmail.com

dac8767, if you installed the turn lanes the last time you installed the NAM, I'd recommend installing the again.  Otherwise, the textures and paths will be missing and you'll have a bunch of blank roads all over your cities.  If you install a different simulator, it'll cause your city to function differently, but it won't cause it to crash.  I'd actually recommend installing either the new NAM "A" or "B" Simulators with Medium difficulty in your case (not the Park & Ride versions).

dedwards2000, the PEG-CDK is not at all related to the NAM.  I'd recommend checking the SimPeg PEGPROD Tech Support board, which can be found here.

Most of the modding work for the NAM is done with ilive's Reader, available in the "Modds & Downloads" section here at Simtropolis. For textures, FiSHMan and SC4Tool is also very useful, and there are various pathing tools available. A word of caution, though: Transit modding is one of the most complicated and elusive form of modding, so if just started to dive into the world of modding, it's probably better to begin with something smaller. There are loads of tutorials and information posted across the various SC4 sites (namely Simtropolis and SC4Devotion), so you should start reading, looking at existing files, and try to understand what you see. You will need loads amount of time and patience, since this is not for the faint-hearted. 2.gif Once you got a basic grasp, you should be able to understand what we are doing here, and if you get yourself involved with the matter, I'm sure people will answer specific questions.

NAM Simulator Z says that buses now count towards congestion & volume. Previously, buses had a large impact since they were "free" ways of moving sims around. Their travel time was affected by congestion, but they didn't add anymore themselves. Taking into account that the bus system usually paid for itself and then some, it was a powerful tool.

I figure this functionality was removed for a reason, but I'm left thinking that buses are kind of useless now. The only positive I see is providing a slightly faster commute-time (per vanilla SC4). I guess it would also be safe to assume that moving the same amount of sims via bus vs. car results in less congestion, but I haven't seen those numbers anywhere.

Perhaps the longer walking distance introduced by Simulator Z makes up for this. When applying Simulator Z to my existing cities, bus use (according to the traffic graph) takes a nose-dive with everything else increasing.

Is it still worth using buses?

You can now download it here as well.  Did you see the news on the main page? 5.gif

Just head over to the mods and downloads section, the PC and Mac versions of the Jan 09 NAM will be the first ones to show up.

Have fun!

Getting familiar with the extensive # of pieces in the new RHW I found I was missing some puzzle pieces. Specifically for the RHW 8 Orth diagonal outer transition 1. There are 8 puzzle pieces for transition 2 so I am assuming that there are suppose to be 8 for transition 1. When I "END" key through the selections I only get four and every second click the pieces don't change. I attached a pic to show what pieces I do get. Circled in the pic in red is the north bound lanes of the RHW 8. I am attempting to attach a diagonal from the lower right as the arrow indicates where I want the traffic to come from. But as u can see there are no pieces that marry up......

most of the RHW8 functionality was disabled prior to release because of RUL issues.....

so thats a known limitation. there is a workaround for diagonal RHW8 by j-dub (i think?)....
