@Simmer2 that looks amazing! Will there be any other large rail served industries in the future?

Absolutely!

nice, Any ideas yet on what you will be doing?

Not sure if you are aware but 99% of the lots I have created so far are rail related. Search my name and you will find them here and on the LEX.

I do have a very extensive thread on the subject over at SC4D but unfortunately the website is currently offline and undergoing an upgrade.

There are tons of rail served industries in the real world and I intend to do my best to bring them over to SC4....1 at the time :)

I will soon be posting an update on my latest project, the "Oil Depot". I just finished the base texture and now it is time to put the whole thing together.

It will comprise of 7 massive sections including many rail parts, refineries, storage tanks and dirt roads. The entire assembly totals 1500 tiles and of course the texture is completely custom made.

Stay tuned, Simmer2/Nick

@Eggman121 Wow, that is really gorgeous! This will really bring a true HSR to SC4. People making regions styled after countries where HSR is important (Japan, for example) will put this to great use.

In the NAM, avenue 7.5 overpass over rail piece rotated, same with the 7.5 starter just tab through until you get to the avenue on slope, do some terraforming to get the right height and slope.

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Oh my, these BTM preview shots are really mouthwatering! I like the sleek look of it all - it complements the trains very well and directly hints at the high-speed character of that network. Keep it up!

Getting back into the game, I built this in my new unamed region.

Hixson Port, located in Northwest Hixson County which is on the border, is a facility designed to transfer rail loads from trains in the neighboring nation to the north, to railroads operated out of my region.

It is based on a real life facility in Horgos on the Chinese/Kyrgyz border (The main difference is Horgos port handles truck traffic not rail)

EDIT: APOLOGIES TO @Simmer2, I've forgotten some dependencies on your lot :(

@Simmer2: When I recovered from the awesomeness of that lot, I realised that I don't even know half of the props on that lot... could use those for some nice IRM mech and out lots.

@DavidDHetzel Yup, definitively a few deps missing :)

@T Wrecks They are all available here. It is amazing how many unused hidden gems you can find in prop packs :)

Thank you all for the kind words.

An area that will end up being changed, like the RRW texture too much and the station lot seems small for what is going on, maybe one of you folks would like to give this type of lot a new go around

Sorry for the late reply  @philforhockey51. I have been meaning to redo many of the stations buzzing around the STEX and LEX, including that set in your pic.

I have many rail lots. Some you will find here https://community.simtropolis.com/profile/444001-simmer2/content/?type=downloads_file

and others will be over at the LEX https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_main.php

You must register at the LEX and do a search of my name.

Have fun.

Simmer2

Rail sunken viaducts, what a marvel! My only objection is about the stations distance, that seems to be not more than 700 meters, which is great for a light rail or metro system, but too close for a commuter rail.

Thanks Matias!

Appreciate the constrictive criticism. I understand the realism issue with having 2 stations somewhat close together, but one station simply wouldn't be able to handle the expected usage. SC4 likes to have multiple stations in dense areas. I decided to compromise by putting in a smaller station to the bottom of the photo, and I can easily remove it in the future without much reconstruction if I don't like it or it's not really needed.

This NCD->RRW patch should address the texture issue:

https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3350

edit: I tested this lot, Depot Rural Train Station (Through Track), and it doesn't seem to use NCD textures, so this won't work as a fix. Using a lot editor to replace some of the textures with NCD might work, but I'm not sure e.g. the spur to that turntable would ever fit on RRW.

There's a version called Large Rural Train Station which doesn't use track textures on the lot itself, maybe this is part of the change you're thinking of...

Fabulous!

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage
