I'm astounded someone had never done a BAT of the Bradbury Building.  Glad to see that such a BAT master has taken it on as a project!

Sad to see that the bookstore building is gone.  However, the slightly taller building just two doors down from it is looking pretty va-va-va-VOOM for a future BAT project...!

Hey @nofunk since you are doing Milwaukee BaTs can you do one of of the most popular building's in Milwaukee? I am of course talking about "Lightning Fast VCR Repair" in Oak Creek ;)

    103012022.jpg

OMG of COURSE that exists in Wisconsin! But I also have to believe it's a clever front for something else? Maybe I should go investigate... it's only 20 minutes from me!

Imagine that.  I live about 3+ hours north of Milwaukee in northern Lincoln county, Tomahawk to be exact, though I'll be moving to Carson City NV within a year, maybe two.  Small world.

VCR Repair?  People still have that ancient technology?  Curious, something does smell kinda fishy, or in a strange world, could be legit.  Would be a throwback storefront for SC4

    Bradbury Building

I was invited to work on the SimCity3000 Birthday BAT Project, and have begun working on the Bradbury Building! It has a long way to go, and the lack of details due to SC3K's resolution is both a blessing and a curse for this one!

    ...

    Huzzah for the Bradbury Building!

If I might make a suggestion based on its real-life inspiration and namesake, the historic Bradbury Building (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradbury_Building), a National Historic Landmark and the oldest office building in downtown Los Angeles, CA. The historic building is renown for its gorgeous glass-covered atrium (as prominently featured in films such as the original "Blade Runner"). Being built in 1893, when electric lighting was in its infancy, these atria provided late-19th c. office buildings with natural lighting and air circulation. IMHO, including the glass roof of the atrium would liven up the roof's visual appeal (and historical accuracy), and thus make the building really stand out. If you choose to go this route (rather than sourcing purely from the SC3K rendition, where such a roof would not have been as noticeable), there are quite a lot of reference images of the atrium roof (and building) available online.

    Hello! Hello!

Boy, I sure am good at falling off the grid without any warning. And then always coming back and commenting on the fact that I fall off the grid without any warning. *:P

I suppose I have quite a bit to update everyone on! First of all, while I haven't been active on Simtropolis, I've been relatively active in 3dsmax.

    CG Flooring
This is based on a building in Chicago, Illinois, and it's pretty much done, but I have to tweak a few more things before it'll be ready to upload!

    Hotel Yorba
Also, a mipro project, this is a grimy hotel on Detroit's southwest side. For those of you who are garage band fans, you might recognize it from a song by the White Stripes. It's currently exported and ready for modding and lotting, but ever since I reformatted my laptop a few months back I've had trouble with LotEditor.

And in some more somber news, the Renaissance Books building, which Jason and I BATed back in 2012, was recently demolished here in Milwaukee. The owner had let the building fall into extreme disrepair, and water infiltration (it's along the Milwaukee River) made it structurally unsound. Not sure what will end up being built in its place, but hopefully it doesn't remain a vacant lot for too long.

That's all I got for now! Hope everyone is doing well!

Another building that would look great in my cities.  I really like the color of the building, reminds me a lot of this library I have installed that's similar in color, though probably a tad darker.  Can't remember the name of said library, but next time I open the game, I'll snap a photo of it and share it here for you to see what I'm talking about.

Hi nofunk, finally got those library pics I promised a couple of weeks ago.  The color is similar to the Bradbury building you're working on.  Four photos from all 4 sides.  It's by Vanderaap I believe.  I like the look and color of this buildings brick facade  The colors of the Brasdury are not far off,a tad darker and more on the brick red color and they'll be almost twins.
