that stadiums nice, reminds me of one of those popcorn makers for some odd reason, i have no idea why. lol.

since you pump out these stadiums with what seems like nothing, youshould have a go at an american football stadium sometime, i'm sure it would be excellent.

keep up the great work!

@Goin2Chicago, maybe it is the frames in the first picture that reminds you the popcorn maker? It is an interesting point. I am not familiar with american football stadium, since not a big fan of football. But I would like to take a look at some good stadium design, even better if you can suggest some good one. Thanks for the feedback.

@Everyone else: Thank you for the comments. I am looking for a name for this thing. I can't just call it the "Remake stadium" or "the bagle shape stadium" every time. So you guys have any idea naming this?

I wish I could release the stadium as soon as possible, but the render just being a pain in the a**. I keep getting the code=30 error, which fails to render the last 2 zooms 1 and 2. I tried the merge trick but still no luck. Anyone had this problem before and know how to solve the mystery code=30 error?

@ dmscopio: This one is a gmax model right? That render problem happens when your nightlights are in groups... gmax WON'T render properly if nightlights are grouped. All nightlights must be stand alone objects and not part of any group. I had this exact problem on Shun Hing Square. So, try removing all nightlights from the groups and rerendering. I have no idea why this works or causes zooms 2 and 1 to be broken, but it does. So, try it and let me know if it works. I hope it does because you stadium is cool. 4.gif

I remake it in 3dsmax, and the render problem happens to my SH stadium, but I will try what you just said. I do have night lights in groups in the scene, and only zoom 1 &2 are broken. So that sound like they are the same problem. THX, my friend.

I tried ungrouping the night light, but still same error code=30 show up when it was around 72% done. Still the zoom 1 and 2 is screwed up. So I guess there is no other way than just wait for someone who have the answer. Thanks skyfire for the help anyway.

Meanwhile here is an update on the stadium:

Stunning work ... This is a must have for my Cities... I can't wait to see it finished ... Looks like it is going to be a huge lot though... I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out in the end.

About your problem ... In the past large stadiums like this have tended to be broken up in halves or quaters, and then rendered seperately, then put together in the LE ... such as the Beijing Olympic Stadium ... It might help to do yours in two halves as well to help sort out any problems that you have .. it might help, otherwise, perhaps someone else will be able to offer help ...

thank for everyone who had given me suggestions on the rendering issue. I will try to work this out in the future. I get little bit busy with real life lately, but I will keep you up to date once I made any progress.. thanks again for the comments.

@FOX, I don't kno how to export the model in parts. Just simply make the LOD smaller? What about in LE? Do I just make it props and put the parts together? What about the night lights? Correct me if I am wrong, I know props does show the night light in game. Thanks for the hints anyway, my friend.

yeah the idea is to make the sections props and put them together in LE...props can show nightlights if enabled in the plug-in manager. Not sure how to dice the model up though. Maybe you could make the whole model one big editable mesh and then delete half the verticies, center the model and render it...then delete the other half and render it...just a suggestion, I'm not sure if it would work though, but it is possible to dice the model up.

Thanks Yoder, I didn't know you can enable the night light for props in PM. I will try to render it later tonite and see if it works.

dmscopio, I think Jasoncw knows pretty much about the technique of rendering a building in parts and putting it together without any visible deficiency. He helped plan9 to assemble the huge Aalesund Hospital, and I guess you cannot see that it's made up of two pieces...

it seems like it would only help if the error has something to do with the amount of computer resources (not enough resources available) needed to render the model, this tends to be a problem in GMax and may not be a problem in Bat4Max...if the error is related to the lighting rig or something else, then I don't think it would help with the render.

Well, I've noticed that Gmax tend to drop render when memory use exceeds something like 300-350 Mb (I don't remember now exact number, but something in that order. With Max this shouldn't be the case. It should be able to use at least 1,5-2Gb to 3Gb of memory depending on the some registry keys (both physical memory and page file) on 32bit windows, and up to 4 Gb on 64bit windows.

The fact that render dyes on first rotation of zoom2 I would imagine it has to do something specifically with that zoom. As much as I understand this is a first one without dedicated LOD, but how is the rendering area is determined... there must be problem right in that process, I'm pretty sure of it.

So any idea what exactly in zoom 1&2 that is causing the problem? I had a macbook pro with 2G of RAM, so resource shouldn't be a problem. Is it the rig's problem? But I use the original one, so shouldn't be a problem.

Rig, in itself is external element here. It is Xrefed into the scene as one piece. After each day/night render pass it is rotated 45 degrees. Only problem I can possibly see here is that there is something wrong with Zoom2 camera. But since you use always same rig (unless you have been fiddling with it) you should have had same problems with other renders as well.

Wouldn’t it be Zoom” I would imaging also something wrong with LOD# but since it doesn’t use geometry LOD at this zoom I’m a bit at the loss. If anyone knows how exactly those zooms are mapped?? There may be some problem..

Have you rendered your previous BATs on same setup? Which Max version do you use? (are you using BootCamp?)

Try MAX9 – it has much faster viewports (in Direc3D) and has new built in MentalRay 3,5 which is fantastic – can now play on even with V-ray!!)
