Thanks for the comments everyone :).

@ Harishna: No the glass isn't final yet. The method I usually use doesn't seem to work very well on this particular project so I'm still playing around with it. I like the pools myself though so I consider them to be final ;).

@ TekindusT: Thanks, It made me laugh. I'm glad you like it and it also encourages me to actually continue and finish this thing :).

I have discovered a problem though. Somehow, I messed up the scale quite badly. Guess I didn't know what I was doing back in 2007 when I started it :P.To solve it I started on another part of the same project, this time in the right scale. When I'm done with that, I can scale the rest to the right size. Therefor I present to you the first update of the Four Seasons hotel. It's the most annoying building to recreate I've ever done though. All the elements are curved and rotated in a different angle so It's really hard to get all the dimensions right. I'm pulling myself through though :P.

    It looks fabulous.

but I have a question. For the squares (tiles, tilling) on the building. Did you chamfered the lines, put in another segment and moved it or did you made those in another way?

I drew a spline, copied it, divided the segments with the divide tool, chamfered the vertexes, deleted the newly created segments and applied the sweep modifier. I use the copied spline to create a black wall in between the tiles. I normally just use a texture for this, but because of all the different sizes and orientations of the tiles, I'd have to make numerous textures which would cost me more time than using this method. Also I already used this method on the Four Seasons Place building back in 2007. (the building on the previous page). I wanted to keep them the same.

Sorry, no updates as of lately. I'm busy writing my thesis which pretty much takes up all my time. I'm graduating (if everything goes according to plan) on the 31st of august. My project designing a innovative high rise building in Hong Kong. It's basically a city within a tower providing jobs, apartments and shops. The tower also features 5 interior atria all themed differently. I wanted to show you some renders I made of it here. Please notice my incredible photoshop skills 'cough':

You are a god, you know that right? I thought these were images of a building that you wanted to make and that you were going to do the interior, too... not something you already made! Now that I look at them again they definitely have a cg look to them, but jesus christ they're good.

    Holy shiz that is beautiful!

You came up with that yourself...wait you're an actual architect aren't you? Or are studying to be one? Sorry I'm just bewildered right now. :O

I'd love to see that built in real life!

Best of luck with graduating. :)

    Thanks :),

Sgt Pepper, yes, I study architecture. After my graduation I may call myself an architect, although it's a title that also has to be deserved in the business world. So it'll take another few years before it really gets acknowledged. ;)

This reminds me of the Elliot Tower in Auckland, a proposal that was given consnent but never built. Great work Paul, and are there any plans to bring it into the wonderful world of Simcity?

Wow, that's wonderful! And you even lotted it, too! Not bad, not bad... I think you did a really good job on the lot. The curves complement the building just fine, and it's all not too playful, but picks up the sleek simplicity of the building nicely.

Of course you know this means we want to see the night lights!

    Suprise!!

    citicday.jpg

Did you remember to scale it vertically by 133%? It seems shorter than it should be compared to other buildings around it.

Here is a screenshot I took of it in one of my cities to illustrate what I mean...

I didn't, on purpose. None of my HKABT content is scaled 133% and I wanted to keep it in scale with the rest of my stuff. This might be worsened my the fact that the floors are divided over 2 horizontal lattices giving the idea the floors are only half their actual height. Judging from your picture, the floors aren't very much lower than most of the surrounding buildings ;)
