Sweet!

For a HK building though it seem like the vertical distance between floors may be a bit to big... At the moment the height of the window and vertical space between them are equal... Or is it just an optical illusion (walls are bright, windows are dark...)

Right now it is a perfect model. It is both strength and may be somewhat weakness if this BAT. I hope you'll do it justice when making materials and textures. To make it more realistic and less model (pardon my pan...)

Nothing to gripe about on my part. Simply a beautiful model. Well done.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep all the feedback in mind when I come back to this project. I haven't been able to work on it lately because it's on another pc as the one I'm working on all the time. So in the meantime I have some other renders to show:

Yeah... that's just insane. I can only imagine how long this must have taken to model. The geometry looks spot on and I just love that glossy tile texture(s) you're using on the base and sections of the roof.

No complaints here eh... this is just BATing at its best.

it is great... but my personal complaint would be exactly those glossy tiles. they do make model look like a little toy. Nothing of this scale is this glossy. Not that uniformly CG like glossy... Generally it is good to remember about any surfaces: Perfections means BAD.

Thank you Paul , for making bats which are not "textured box"! Thank you Paul, for making research and try to make something "different". This "glossy" tiles are really a great idea, as it is ceramic it has to be bright under sun and less bright in the shadow but if it is raining...! In conclusion, I love it and maybe a little bit too glossy or a little bit too much reflection...!

Anyway it is just the final "fine tuning"! Bravo!44.gif.

Is it me or do the floors seem a little short compared to the surrounding buildings?

I made the floorheight true to real life, meaning floors are 2,6 meters in height. This is indeed a little short compared to the original buildings. I don't think the floorheight is too short compared to the other custom buildings though.

Hm, could be. I'd recommend putting more Maxis around it. Anyway, I'm really excited about this building, it might be one of your best so far. Some tweaks to textures/material settings might be in order, though. For example, all that concrete around the parking garage in the base still has a certain touch of smooth plastics to it. As for the car entrance, do you want to position it towards the edge of the lot? If there's some space to remain inbetween, it would be a good idea to think of a texture you's like to use (or be used 2.gif ) on the lot and tweak the concrete texture on your BAT accordingly. Speaking of this texture, some mor grain, plus some dirt and traces of car tyres would add much realism.

I'm absolutely with TWrecks on the materials. Right now it looks like really great model with a stress on a model. Also glazing will benefit from having something to reflect on the ground plane. It is, after all, a large part of the surface of the building. Also some of the green on the tower (now looking on the in-game picture) is a bit too intense.

As far the floor hight cis concerned you really have to get it to 3,5m mark, or building would really look out of synch with most of the game content , barring few mis-proportioned custom building. The very regular 1,33 scale (or you can use FFD with 2x2x2 cage) will do it.

Apart from that it looks fab!

Daaang paul, that is looking fantastic! I love this building, especially since it has curved and angled parts to it that will give it a unique place in any skyline. I'm glad you chose it! 9.gif

Yeah, the driveway looks a lot better now, much more realistic! You may want to check the colour balance, though. Those SimCity streets appear to tend more towards a blueish overall hue whereas your texture/material is more on the yellowish side.

A second aspect I noticed is that the flora is quite different: The bushes in the centre of that round plaza look spot on to me, but the rest of the flora appears to be much darker, much more staurated and more olive green. The overall impression may be better with all flora looking a bit more uniform.

All in all, the driveway, the top of the base, the spiral structure above the driveway and the rooftops look absolutely convincing and realistic to me, whereas the main wall textures on the towers and on the base might benefit from some further tweaking.

Of course, this is all critique on a very high level, but considering your skills, I think this level is appropriate. 9.gif This building promises to be one of the highlights of early 2011, and I'm looking forward to seeing it progress. Should you be looking for anybody to lot & mod it when it's done, I shall be pleased to offer my service. 49.gif

exams are finally over so here's a little update3.gif I scaled the height to 133%, modified the flora a bit and made changes to the white wall materials. Please note I made draft renders so the windows look a little bright:

Looks more accurately scaled to fit on a 4x4 lot now. Excellent work done on this so far.
