Hey: Don't know if mrPS will create a problem or not, sorry. What I will say is the darker image (the one with the mrPS) looks much better. I thought it was darknite. Concerning the stairs I would say yes, it does look a bit 2D. Perhaps try to create a real staircase and see if that helps, but that might make the other lighted windows seem 2D. Give it a try, no harm in that. If it doesn't work then you have learned something. I have used this saying before and I'll say it again, "Good judgement comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgement".

I didn' t realize you don't have MAX. Sorry, my fault. I tried GMAX on my 64 bit vista and it doesn't seem to work properly. I will eventually have to set up a virtual windows 32 bit XP machine when I get around to it. I suppose you could try a sphere (Does GMAX have a sphere?). Again I apologize. Most BATTERS seem to be using MAX. I beleve (if your a student) you can get MAX 2011 free for 3 years at Autodesk . I think you just need to get a teacher with an .edu email address to sign up for you. So...if your a student I would go for it. Otherwise you'll have to go the expensive route of $3500US or there about. Let me know if you get it. Then I can help no problem. Cheers BTW. The building and texturing looks much much better.

Are you going to take my advice and follow the tutorials? I will say it again. It's really the best way to learn. Crawl before walk, walk before run. Within a few months you'll be creating some really cool stuff. Good luck

Hey: I was going to prepare a tutorial on how to create the canopy and apply textures. However I think what might be better for you at this time is to get used to using MAX's interface (if your using GMAX, I'm not sure how much this will help, just give it a try). What helped me was this tutorial. Especially the first 4 videos. It's a long tutorial (all the videos together) but will help you greatly. It can be a bit tedious at times, but hey, this is the only way to learn MAX. Just be patient and follow the instructions as best you can and do it over again until you get it right. You have to understand that most of the people here are doing this as a hobby, tutorials at CGTuts , The area , and 3DM.com are done usually by professionals in the field and have time (mosltly because they are getting paid) to create extensive tutorials. Take a couple of weeks and go through a few of these and I promise you it will help big time. Good luck.

Nice detail even right into the garage bay. Lighting can be very tricky but you have made it look very realistic. Well done. One thing I would add is more grunge on the roof (perhaps even some more discarded smaller parts). I would also add a composite map on the walls with a procedural mask or two to dirty them up quite a bit.

Very big improvement. the lighting is pleasing to the eyes now. Nothing that sticks out as far as I'm concerned. -
WOW. Very lovely colors. They do indeed look beautiful..

Well.. making a breakthrough is sometimes just as important than scraping a project. There is an old saying..."Good judgement comes from experience, experience come from bad judgement." BTW. I like what you have done with the house. I would change a couple of minor things, but otherwise it's fine. Take care. -
Beautiful window textures. Now I need to ask. Are the drapes part of the texture or objects within the building? Nice roof rubbish..er..I mean junk

I can try to do it Friday if I have the time. In the meantime, play around with the Oiltank primitive and the UVW Modifier with Spherical Mapping coordinates.
