@Haljackey My word has it been 7 years since i posted that map?! Jeez where does the time go. Your region is looking fantastic. I see signs of a highway in the mountains; you get a chance to run any transit lines through mountain passes up there?

It almost shames me to say my region is pretty barren. I haven't really fired up the game since NAM ....32? came out (for hobbies i've taken up landscape photography, and since covid: painting *). I've got a farm grid in the northwest sector to bootstrap the industrial jobs demand for the region, but other than that and foresting up the same area i haven't done much. I'm going to have to fire it up soon.

Oh yeah I got a railroad that heads up into the mountains. This vid, while on a highway, parallels the railway for a good chunk of the way down if interested.

Devotion is hard to keep up ! Since 2015 I continiously worked on two regions, summer and winter during 5 years with both little developing customs wich afther so long time want to replace with a new fresh look. Mountain´s of new came out still mostly older added still not new. Finaly I am about finished with these regions I am asamble an new fresh custom plugins you have the hard task select those customs mods wich will make a difference. Illiminating the maxis stuff by using replacement HD trees, replacement alternative houses for low density area´s and agriculture. Airport, harbour, rail alternative sets and textures. Regional terrain, road, sidewalk idea´s, parks. Theme tropical, temperate, rural, city or both. NAM 31.1 and 32 I aswell stayed for a longtime as 33 and 34 wheren´t very great yet. Nostalgic I now have 31.2 so some features wich wheren´t working got corrected, I now updated to NAM 36 the last of the old installation format line, wich now is fully ready for the next new region to fire up. Except gameplay, hardest part of the SimCity experience is sellecting the custom content, not choosing to many old stuff, not to much new, yet have some basic growable lots and plopables to make it stand out from anything made !

Sincerely yours,

Kschmidt

Music reminds me of the  style of music in the F-Zero series... :)

I really enjoyed the vid... i've always wondered though, how do you do the transitions between city tiles?

Thanks! The music from this video is actually from Mario Kart 64, Paper Mario and Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past. It does give me thoughts of F-Zero now thinking about it lol.

As for transitions, it's fairly simple. End the recording when you reach the end of a city. Load up the next city. Drive to the edge of town, and then continue. That's why you often see police stations at the edge of the city tile so I can spawn a car there.

Once it's all done, stitch the recordings together in a video editing program (I use Sony Vegas). Add some tunes and whatever other effects you want and you're good to go!

I was mostly thinking the first tune -- definitely recognize the Zelda tune (you've used it before) -- that one is awesome (you got good taste in general there I might add, having kept a few of your vids not only for SC4,  but for the music as well)

I figured it might be something like that but then I was thinking you need to get the same vehicle *and* be able to get to the location easily.  So the police station can have any vehicle spawn there?  That's good to know.  It'd be cool if there was a mod  that did all this automatically (closed the city when you reach the edge and load up a new one, placing you were you should be).

The police station just spawns police cars, and vans if you have a larger station.

So I just have a mod that replaces the police van which I use for most of my UDI videos.

As for a mod, it would be a nice to have, especially for non-road networks. It's hard to do a rail UDI video for example since you need a train to spawn right at the edge for best effect. That is harder to pull off.

I've no idea if this would help or not, but if you used SW77 Train Generators would that then let said train spawn at the edge of the city tile when using the udriveit code?

Well, I created my region about a year ago and finally I'm getting to work on it. Above is just the road map so far. Most of it will be based on modern suburbia with some freeways in between and a bunch of connecting arterial roads. I think it's coming along well although, as unnatural as it sounds, I kind of want all or most of the roads and infrastructure to be made before I start zoning/building. And I'll probably start out with a small town out west so that the often neglected agriculture demand is met.

So... I'm finally about to kick-start the economy of this region, but that caused me to get a little caried away...

39rcYg2.jpg

The shape is odd because that's only just what's been terraformed. The original region was roughly 154 square miles... the updated region is 677. I decided I wanted to do some small towns out west, but I wanted them to actually look and feel far away, so I expanded the region and moved everything to the southeast. And I also decided I did want to do a big city with a downtown area, a ghetto and more so yeah. All worked out. I'm about to start a town out west based on Fredericksburg, TX. And once everything is connected, I can start building up the suburbs without having to go through the annoying early processes of starting a city with small shacks and shops.

Impressive how much foresting improves the look of terrains!

Even with 40 million sims, I am continuing to terraform my region as I continue to expand outwards.

*BTW the 2014 interchange challenge tile is almost fully integrated in my region. Just need to carve out a corridor to get the N/S rail line hooked up.

Population just hit 20000. 7500 from Lindenburg to the northwest, 12500 from Colony Lakes.

Sprawl could be going quicker but I'm too obsessed with finishing out each individual neighborhood one by one. But I did finally get a freeway started. Time to watch a whole bunch of tutorials because I'm definitely not trying to cut corners with that LOL.

Wow only High Tech?! Are you going to add any ID/IM to your region?

You're looking at the stats for this city only which is 99% commercial, 1% industrial. There's more industry elsewhere in the region. If you look at the bottom right of that region census screenshot, there are 650k industrial jobs in the region. There are only 6.5k industrial jobs in this city (all high tech) and that represents just 1% of the total industrial workforce in my region.
