A very small community has established and rooted itself besides a coastal highway.

I thought about this, and am still thinking about it because though I've thought about this, I still have more thinking to do as to stop thinking about it would mean not to think.

Jeez, SimGoober's old BAT looks totally clunky next to your tower, despite those pipes and tanks. That's ten years of BATing evolution there...

@takemethere  I love the detailed shadow, but I'm wondering why that garbage truck driver is chasing that sim across the street :lol:

@philforhockey51 lol Yeah sims sure seem to do some funny things from time to time don't they? My take on that scene is that the garbage truck driver and his coworker saw that log lying by the side of the road and took it upon themselves to try to move it out of the way. And stopping the truck in the middle of the road like that is no big deal to them since they do it all the time for garbage pickups. But they seem a bit too nonchalant crossing the road, hard to tell if the cars coming the other way are actually going to stop or not... edit* IIRC they didn't! :O

@T Wrecks Indeed, it's incredible the amount of detail we can get out of 3ds now. On the other hand even though Goober's lots were made with the gmax, I still think they hold up quite well even 10 years later. And I'm sure if he was still active he'd quickly learn how to take full advantage of the rendering power of 3ds.

@antsel Sure is

Anytime I think of something infrastructure related(e.g. lattice towers, smokestacks, highway curves, hydro transformers/wires, water towers, rail & road tunnels, etc.) that's missing from the game and hasn't been made before or a design that I just really want to see, I just go and make it myself :)

That is truly amazing! Any plans to make them available to the public?

At the intersection of the two major highways are old farms which have been sold to commercial investors. As a clause in the purchase agreements they have agreed to not plant crops this season on those three parcels. Land value for the soy bean fields are still too low so they keep planting. The orange groves on the main highway are way overpriced and no contracts have been signed. They are holding out for over-the-top top dollar. *;)

I love your imagination with the stories you've created for your sims.  Has anyone else noticed that car got into an accident and is flying off the cliff, he just smashed into the retaining wall above that little factory.

Woot! I'm glad to hear that. *:blush:

Ok, so here's how it turned out. (The lawsuits are still on the books, but are unlikely to proceed since the Vikayakar family makes up a good percentage of the lawyers in this area.) As stated in the contracts, the farmer's sheds were designated historical and land for growing some crops was set aside. The overlooked fine print does, in a weaselly way, state a minimally necessary ground allotment would be honored in perpetuity. (The premise of the suit is with regard to the definition of  minimally necessary.)

Vikayakar Holdings leased the ground to some medium and high wealth businesses who built their offices and the landscaping improvements at their own expense. The evil Vik Foods division built a radio station and tower and is now promoting their own (inferior) oranges. With the extra traffic and minimal parking at the orange groves the farmers are barely staying in business cause of how difficult it is for their loyal customers to get in and out of the little dirt driveways.

It also happens that Mr. Vikayakar himself is the administrator for the the local government zoning board. I'm guessing if the farmers don't sell the prime land at the same low price as the other farmers did, he'll create more traffic and then get the properties thru condemnation by stating the highway needs to be widened to a full Avenue.

Here's my first attempt at a pleasant commercial area. (The budget for beautification of that electric pyramid is still being negotiated.)

Who says the roads have to connect to the rest of the city? *:lol:

5967580a5c86a_21Subway.jpg.772f0d87bb7e9ce0ebaf3e54ab67a15d.jpg

Although there are two more sub stations to the south on Medium Wealth Row, those aren't the ones that connect to Isolatedville. The connections to the highlighted stations are on the other side of the mountains in two low wealth neighborhoods.
