About This File

Buffalo, New York. Based on USGS data.

I worked TWO HOURS on this map because my MICRODEM program wouldn't correctly indicate the water in this region. Cities are strategically placed to allow accurate placement of the cities of Buffalo, St. Catherines, and smaller neighboring cities such as Depew and Lancaster. Please give it a good rating.

The jpeg size is too big when i ctrl+shift+alt+r this map. It says it needs to be 1025x1025, not 2200 something by 220 something.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe to download a region you put the region file in your 'Downloads' folder which is in the 'Regions' folder. The Regions folder is in the same location as your Plugins folder for SimCity. So, depending on how your computer is set up, if you have a PC then the address will look something like this: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\SimCity4\Regions\Downloads.

Okay apparently I'm wrong. Actually I heard that you need some map rendering software that you can download somewhere. I wish there was an easier way myself. Could somebody please come in with the details? Or a link to the forum topic that answers this question?

It doesn't seem to be working. When I hit the download button I'm getting a gray satellite looking overhead image of the region.

The way to fix the jpeg size problem is to download the config.bmp file and put it in the folder for your region. To see region downloading instructions that include this step, look here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=120&threadid=92538&enterthread=y

Renders just fine for me. As a native of that area, I find it somewhat out of proportion, It is not Buffalo, New York but the entire eastern and western Niagara Peninsulas with a big chunk of western New York to an even bigger chunk of eastern Ontario. The render included massive chunks of Lakes Erie and Ontario and goes as far West as Burlington and further. The waterways are definitely out of proportion. Hardly any space for the Fort Erie-Buffalo Peace Bridge, and, of course, the 200 foot drop at the falls is missing. Really too bad, but this area is not a good one to map for SC4 because of the terrain changing something like 300 feet from lake to lake.

Did a compare with Google maps just to make sure. The image of Grand Island is rather out of whack, and the Niagara Escarpment is missing.

I'd relabel it a map of fantasy.
