About This File

*updated!*

Now with a lot that isn't bare! I added some rocks, trees and a fence. I was too lazy to take new pictures though. That's all that's been changed, so redownload if you want. Remember to delete the old files (actually it should overwrite the old one, since I didn't change the lot name) and bulldoze any instances you already have to make sure no bad things happen.

Barnegat Lighthouse in Barnegat Light, NJ.

Tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and the second tallest in the United States at 165 feet tall. It was commissioned in 1859 to replace an earlier lighthouse that was too short, too dim, and which had fallen into the sea. Decommissioned in 1944 and replced by an offshore lightship, the tower's original lens was removed. No longer used for navigation, it is now a tourist attraction in Barnegat Lighthouse State Park.

the tower is not bad but the underground looks ugly to me , but I give you a 9 for the design

Yeah, I know that the lot part is blank and yucky, I just wanted to throw it out there quickly. If some people give me suggestions, I'll probably add them and update it. Oh and I forgot to say, it's a plain landmark lot.

It looks so tiny! It doesn't look like a lighthouse to me because of it's size... That is also the problem with the original Maxis-lighthouse btw.

Try to dress the lot up a bit, and make a real presentation out of it. It's a nice BAT, but it needs a lot to make it good overall.

I'd recommend shrubs, trees & fencing like the real Barnegat. The lighthouses near my house range from 17m to 35m, so yours looks accurate at around 3 tiles (48m) high.

No, it doesn't replace the default lighthouse. I think I'm going to use those little rocks the default one has, and put a fence around it, too.

Little button under the decription says something to the effect of "edit this file". Only the person who submits it can see it.

I'm not sure how many of you have actually been to the Barnegat Lighthouse... the REAL "lot" around it is nothing special to look at either. I used to spend summers on LBI and i know that light house well... This is exactly what it looks like!!!

The ground around the real one has mostly eroded away. It's basically right up against the water, protected by a rock jetty.

Barnegat Light has been recommissioned I believe in 2009. It now is a navigational aide with a working light once again.
