About This File

After a return to SC4 recently I found out how to set city tile size, got the terraformer and made my first map. It may not be perfect but I feel ready to build it up and I felt I should share it with anyone who likes it. The size is 4x4 large tiles.

Hello, sorry I didn't zip the files. The thought hadn't even crossed my mind to be honest. Rookie mistake I guess, It is my first upload. However I couldn't upload the same files in a zip. I did try a few times but nope. I will try again another time.

Hey, what are those textures of the map, could you share it with us?

My best guess is: Berner Oberland Terrain Mod (v1.0)

There are some picture catalogues of all the terrain related mods in case you want to take a peek:

You are correct. In the screenshots I also have B98_Beach_Extend, HD_White Sands Beach and SHK_HDRockMod_01. Your shoppes are an excellent source Corina and I have made extensive use of them. Thank you for your efforts there and your other tutorials I have read, they were all well detailed and easy to follow.

I have attempted to upload a zip file numerous times but keep getting a message saying there's an intermittent error or my quota is done. I am not sure why I cannot do this. I do read it says 4MB limit per file which the zip is over the limit of. I see many downloads over 4MB so i'm not sure how this works. Will i need to delete the 88 single files and then try uploading as a single zip? Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hiya, Adam.

The 4 MB limit should only apply to attachments rather than the actual upload to the STEX. I believe what you want to do is select File Actions then Upload New Version and then select the .zip file on your comp. That should replace all 88 files in one fell swoop.

Let me know if that doesn't work and if not, would you mind to temporarily upload the .zip file to the free WeTransfer.com (or your favorite offline file hosting site) and post the URL linky? From there I could use my Admin powers to fix this up for you.

Just to add...

When in the Upload New Version page, to ensure the current 88 uploaded files are no longer listed under the Download button when saving with your new bundled zip, it'll need them de-associating with the entry. This can be done by clicking "Delete" beside each.

As follows:

STEX new Version - Delete Existing Files Example.png

(And the same for the other 84 listed files below these 4.)

Then upload your zip file, give it a new version number, and upon saving only your combined archive will be available to be downloaded directly. Alternatively if you wish, as Admins we can remove these for you to save some clicking, using a bit of database magic. *;)

Also since this is a region, the PNG previews as generated won't be needed for the actual functionality of the region. So you could leave those out if you'd like. There's no concern with the total file size being an issue though at 18 MB, and we've since relaxed the longstanding rule which prevented rendered cities from being uploaded here to the STEX.

We're here to help if you have any further questions.

Woot! I see you were able to get rid of the 88 single files and replace it with one in .rar format. Now, I don't mean to be annoying, but .zip is a popular format Windoze itself can recognize. RAR needs a 3rd party program. Would you mind to go one more step and package it in .zip format and re-upload? (Or I can do it for you.) *;)

Version 1.1: I have amended this now. Done as .zip not .rar I hope I have the correct usual protocol in place now and will remember it.

Coincidently I had modeled the valley to imagine miners towns as settlers of say a silver deposit. I find now this is a place in Idaho with a real mining history inc silver. Well i'll be ha ha.

Thanks for the update and also re-updating to upload as a regular .zip file. It's just a convenience thing really, and that way it'll help so anyone on Windows can open the file without needing a 3rd party utility like 7-Zip or WinRAR.

Just to let you know, I've adjusted the download count as shown on the "File Information" panel to represent the consolidated total who've downloaded. At 196 it was a little high since it considered each individual click from the 88 files as a total. Now it's in accurate proportion to what it would've been with just the one file available initially.

Great job with your map and sharing it with the community to enjoy. *:)

Thanks for offering. It's no problem, If i'm doing it I want to do it properly.
