About This File

A map of Australia & Tasmania.

the map contains 6 x 6 Large cities (36 cities).

Once the file is downloaded, extract the contents to your regions directory, as in place the folder "Australia" into your Region folder.

Then start up the game load up Australia and then press " Control + Alt + Shift + R" then once the screen has popped up, navigate to the Australia.jpeg file in the regions --> Australia folder and then go make yourself a drink! Obviously the more RAM etc your computer has, the quicker the map shall render.

MMM Shouldn't there be more flat (or flattish) areas?, i mean our biggest cities are all on the east and west coasts (because we aussies tend to prefer living on the coast).

Not to mention all the farmland, and in some areas in the "outback" you can drive for AGES and see nothing but flat featureless landscape.

used from DEM data, i guess it seems more flat in reality because it is so vast and expansive..

That's what happens when you squeeze an entire continent into a map 6 large cities across.

I doubt this map is intended for authenticity though, there are already maps of the Melbourne and Sydney areas on Simtropolis.

I think i am particularly pointing to your coastlines they are all jagged and hilly, but that's not entirely the case like i said...Melb, Syd, Bris, Perth, Adel all right on the coast but not possible on your map.

As for my hometown (Adelaide) eeep! if it really looked like that Adel wouldn't be here lol .

Yes it is realistic for a squeezed map - its called the great dividing range and runs up the whole east coast of Australia, including the Aussie Alps which peak at over 2,200 metres.

You can't make the country entirely to scale; Especially on SimCity 4.

To make a realistic representation of Australia you would have to count for every kilometer and every biome, something that just can't be forged onto a 3D Model. But ain't that what makes Australia great?
