Creek Park Stadium  1.0

About This File

A step back in time...to an example of a retro/art-deco style community stadium of the WPA era. Though not based on any one ballpark in particular, dozens of these small stadiums existed at one time throughout the US, typically built in the 1930s-1940s in similar styles. Some have been historically preserved and still see games and action today, often utilizing the stadium's dimensions for other sports. Creek Park would be an example of one of those, set within a residential or park district of a town, location and standards to what would have been acceptable at the time, but wouldn't be granted a new team today.

Size: 9x9

Cost: $15,000

Appears under Landmarks

Minimal power/water needed

No dependencies

Enjoy!

I'm loving that brick facade. Kinda, sorta like Pac Bell/3Com/whatever-it's-called-this-week Park in San Francisco.

I can't find a 'thumbs up' thingy but I'm giving you one.

Awesome work - it reminds me of the old Durham Bulls park. All of your sports stadiums have been top notch - thanks for sharing them.

Wow, a superb baseball stadium! I especially like the look of the grass pitch, and I can totally imagine that stadium in a suburb. Thise brick arches with the metal bars give it an archaic "Colosseum" touch, too - as if they kept the lions down there. :P I like it.

The only minor aspects I don't like that much are as follows:
(A) The open bleachers look a bit too white and... well, bleached out. Gmax is terrible in that respect, you have to compensate for that effect rather strongly. Come to think of it, I don't know about the floodlights - are they painted white, or are they supposed to be unpainted metal?
(B) The tops of the round towers on which the floodlight masts are standing are rather clean and featureless. They appear a bit toy-like IMO. Some weathering etc. might help.

As I said, these points are no biggies - just thought I'd mention them anyway so you may choose to incorporate them into your next creation (which I hope will come!) if you like.

Thanks for the support, and yeah, I always forget to compensate for what the BAT takes away. Tiny details end up smudged and bleached out.

This was sort of a "test" model to see if I could build something like this and have it look game-quality, as far as the main building goes, so soon I'll take on something bigger and better.

Truly amazing and detailed! I love it :3 Canal Park Stadium in Akron has a similar brick-type design to evoke the fields of yore, and this reminds me of it (albeit smaller).

T Wrecks made some good points, the only thing really holding this back is the texturing and maybe some model work on the actual stadium structure. But what an excellent bat, and regardless of the textures I'm downloading this and definitely using it. A great addition to any western style city, thanks!

I really like this too, and I agree with T Wrecks and other's critiques. My two cents would be to add wall props adjacent to the outer towers creating a complete field perimeter--unlesss you want your sims "sneaking in" to the games! And er, base bag props would be cool to see, even if just for a 'polished' lot. Wonderful and looking forward to the next one!

Great design, one of the best original stadiums for SC4 I've seen in a while. My only complaint (And I don't know if it was just me or not) was that it brought down surrounding land value a bit... Ah well, still brilliant. 4.5/5

I need this for my Hometown of Ontario, California that I'm building, +!!11 The real park was where they filmed A league of their own back in the 80's
