dude... did you actuality see the stuff that is produced and released on STEX? now, look at your model and ask your self, does it fit?? have you any sense of criticism? if you would have you would never upload this. this is pure non-sense and usefulness, it will no fit in any city available so far and wont fit. SC4 prizes for realism, not for cartoonishm...

I will not beat around the bush: The textures are ghastly. However, it IS a first effort, and it would behoove me to assist rather than mindlessly criticize the work:

https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=41.0

This board contains a series of topics that will, in the very least, point you in the right direction for making/obtaining good textures.

You might also consider adding props to liven up that roof; it looks very blue by itself.

Well. Try adding textures, few more BAT details, so on. Since it looks like you only put half your effort in this, I'd say you could have done better, but just didn't feel like it. 1/5 stars.

Have you ever seen a blue Toys R Us with a blue roof that is taller than a mid rise office building?! :noway: I think you really need textures and it needs to be to scale.

Since when? Simcity 4 is a game, not a N.A.S.A. program. The building is too big and colourful and haven't any texture. Please take your time and finish your building :)

I think you should have worked on this a lot more before uploading, anyway if you need help or want suggestions on your buildings open a BAT thread in the forums.

Ehh...I'm tempted to rate this low but I'm gonna tell you what you could do better next time instead, because this really needs some work.

1. If you're gonna model something this simple in Sketchup, you might as well use gmax.

2. This thing has next to no detail. Get a real world reference and spend plenty of time making sure you have everything there.

3. This thing is freaking HUGE. Make sure your building is scaled correctly. I mean, look, this thing TOWERS over Vu Blue Denim, and Godzilla wouldn't bump his head on that doorway.

4. You really, really need to texture your models. Yes, bright shiny colors are nice, but this game is about realism and your models should be textured to look nice ingame.

5. The lot is completely barren. Lotting your model nicely is just as important as making your model look nice. I hate seeing beautiful models on terrible lots. Don't brush off this step.

6. Open a BAT thread ;)

Lol... This "Toys 'R' Us is HUGE compared to rality. I mean... I looked at the other buildings in the screenshot, and it looks like it's like 20x20 cells. If you added some different textures to the roof, and the walls to make it look like a real Toys 'R' Us, and maybe get it into a better scale. That would make it better.
This particular building, I can't decide what it reminds me of... either like a 1600's video game arcade (I know there is no such thing... lol) or maybe a 2050 movie theater.
As most of you people can see, this "Building" is way too big for what it is, and you, the creator, rileyskioo, have the power to make future ones better.
x Lightbulb over head x maybe (This is what I did) you could search in Google Images something like "Wood Textures" or "Stone textures, then right click, Save file as, save it in gmax>maps and change the file type to a bitmap, and name it what you want.

Um--Uh--I don't--uh... You need to make more effort, I think you can do better than this, because I don't think this is complete. You didn't really have to put it on Simtropolis as soon as possible, because there are no due dates for uploading new files on Simtropolis. Can you please work on it some more and then put it?

firstly, thanks for trying but...

all I'll say is that I'm glad toys r us doesn't look like this in real life.

I would advise going to the forums and spending some more time thinking about what you're going to make and how you're going to make it ;-)

Everyone should listen to CaptCity and not just post "this sucks." (I admit I did earlier) But rileyskioo, you being at least partially active in the community, should know files that would be criticized when uploaded. This is one of them.

I take my comment back and am happy to see you started a BAT thread.

Thanks marsh, and since it's a new page and some are still not posting according to the rules of the site, I'll make the same request...
For those who offered constructive criticism - thanks. Those who did not (insults and sarcasm are not constructive) need to practice acceptable Simtropolis posting habits and use the Report link if there's problems with the upload.
Please heed...

This is okay for a first effort. I can't even make a wall. But how do people get from the shopping area to the cashier when the store is big enough to swallow all those buildings and the highway in front of it? :)

All I do is shapes and textures. I switched to maps do to this. I said for once I'm speechless, but after further review, its better then most. Mine do just as well (if you'll excuse me) on the reviews. Nice try at least.

This building is pretty mammoth. It looks big enough to house a Toys R Us Supercenter store, the factory, and the dormitories for the enslaved elves that make the toys. Also, the colors do NOT do any justice to this BAT. Good effort, low quality. 2/5
