About This File

A small underground parking set into an avenue roundabout that will fit in a busy downtown or any suburb...

List of Items

* 2x2 Avenue Roundabout with 4 corners

This is set up as a COM building with 24 CS$ jobs.

* 2x2 Avenue Roundabout without corners

This is set up as a COM building with 24 CS$ jobs and will work well with any sidewalk.

* 1x2 Main Entrance

This serves as a functional garage with a capacity of 5000, so it can also be used as a standalone lot.

* 1x1 Side Entrance

* 1x1 Side Exit

These two lots also serve as functional garages with a capacity of 1500 each and can be used standalone as well.

Dependencies

- none -

Developer Notes

You can use the roundabout alone as a COM building, or use it together with any of the various entrance and exit pieces to get parking garage functionality. Or you can just use the entrance and exit pieces alone (without the roundabout) for plain underground parking...

All pieces in this set need power and water, create some garbage and have positive effect on neighboring COM.

You find them in the 'Transportation | Miscellaneous' menu with custom icons.

Well it looks great, but that must be one of the most stupidly dangerous things I've ever seen.

SLagonia if you look at the lot you can see that there is no way to get to the parking from the middle of the roundabout only way to get in is on the side lot from the avenue then you go under the roundabout to the middle

Xyloxadoria, my point is more that people are going to crash into the median, and wind up plunging two stories onto someone's car... Or a pedestrian. It doesn't take much to get over those tiny barracades, and traffic circles are the cause of a lot of accidents.

While I agree that such a construction would probably be too dangerous in real life (you could run your car over the barricade and fall down, as SLagonia pointed out), SimCity fortunately gives us the choice to push the boundaries of realism... and for those of us who are willing to do so, this is indeed a very unique way to fill those roundabouts with something less eye-candyish, but really functional! Apart from the realism issue, everything looks well thought through and exudes top-notch quality from modeling to night lights and lot work - congratulations and thank you!

there's nothing particularely unrealistic about the barriers on this roundabout, they are often this weak in real life too. :P

Yes that's true, Glenni, but going through those barracades normally doesn't cause you to drop two stories!

Anyway, as T Wrecks pointed out, this simulator allows us acceptable breaks from reality, and the lot is quite beautiful, so it's still nice. I just wouldn't want to park my car there!

First of all: thanks a million, everyone, for all the nice words!

And here's my comment on the 'safety' issue: in my defence (or the fence's defence), traffic are slow in roundabouts, making chrashes with enough force to run down a fence very rare. Most crashes would just mess the cars up, I think. This fence design is actually quite close to that of a elevated traffic circle in Cape Town, only that doesn't have parkingspaces in it. That's what I think, anyway...

Murimk, you obviously have never had the misfortune of getting on a traffic circle in New York. I can't count the number of times someone went skidding off into the median. I suppose it's different in different parts of the world.

This is a really novel idea and provides something quite useful in an otherwise empty zone. Thanks for sharing!
