I was just thinking last night how this would be a great idea and here it is :D My one suggestion would be an end piece that overhangs so you can plop it in water and have it continue onto the land's edge for a seemless transition.

I'm sorry for two posts in a row... but have you ever thought of creating "overhanging" modular breakwaters, which look like a bridge seen from the side? you could place them next to bridges or next to dams, making them appear like a bridge. this way you could create water bridges for the real highway mod, the 6- , 8- and 10-line networks.
