About This File

This is a replica of the Obelisk in Karnak, Egypt. It's my first major BAT structure, but I've invested some time into this one, as simple as it looks, getting the textures right was challenging. It came out really well I think, so I put it up here to share! Expect more Egyptian themed lots in the future!

Stats:

Landmark

3x3 lot

$11,000 to plop

$150 monthly cost (for keeping it in top shape)

Gives very positive effects to anywhere within 20 tiles.

About half the size of the Washington Monument.

good work! perfect for fitting into my main square as the ancient-obelisk-pillaged-by-europeans! washington monument was too big for squares

it's tall, but not massive. as i said in the description, about half the height of the washington monument. comporable to mid sized building i guess. i made it a bit larger than the actual size because to scale it looks really small and i wanted the heiroglyphics to be visable.

Very nice!! I wouldn't mind seeing more of this type. Maybe once we get a few, someone will develop trails and parks of the same theme... Make a neat park section.

Great Stuff, and go on with egyptian art. And the size is very well fitting in a mid-sized city.

Could you make a smaller version too? We have this one to display the heiroglyphs, but one to the right scale would also be good. In black as well. Small and large would both be appreciated.

Very Nice. Im looking forward to your other Egyptian items. Can you make the massive statues of some of the Pharoahs?

i kinda started one of anubis, one of those big dog things, but it's really hard. i don't know if i'm being too picky with the details, but i spent a few hours on the feet alone, trying to make it as realistic as possible, each foot has dozens of shapes in it, but i'm not happy with it yet.

It looks really good. thanks for taking the time to get the textures right. ALthough these things are sometimes unappreciaed, i think it makes a huge difference.

ok, more to come. i just finished retexturing and resizing some more. i have a to-scale (smaller, 1x1) version of this, and a big and small black/gold one. i'm testing and finishing them up now. :)

Here's a dumb question: how did you get desert terrain? Was a mod for that released? I sure haven't seen it around ... :)
