About This File
This is a first generation Terrain Mod designed for use with the MTP... although it certainly can be used for any type of city. The goal of this project was twofold; 1. Develop a terrain mod that would blend better with MTP lots using the standard MTP base textures... and... 2. Make it incredibly small so it wouldn't chew up any additional game resources or make the game run any slower than it already does.
Nailed it !!
At first glance, you may think this terrain looks pretty much like the game-default terrain. But you would be wrong... because it looks exactly like the game-default terrain. Because it is. But with a twist...
I always liked the look of the game-default terrain... but not at the lowest altitude where the grass is just way too dark green. Not realistic at all and unfortunately... most of us develop our cities on the default, flat, near sea-level terrain.
However, when you get up into the middle elevations, the game's terrain looks pretty darn good with a good combination of realistic vegetation and earth colors. So, this mod simply shifts the terrain around a bit by extending the middle elevation textures to cover both a lower and higher elevation range.
The end result is that your flat, sea-level cities will have a more realistic & softer green shade of terrain and your majestic mountain peeks won't be quite so bald. In between, you will get a realistic blend of the middle elevation terrain that also blends much better with the lot textures used on most MTP lots.
As stated above, this is a "first-generation" terrain mod... which is fancy-speak for "beta" or "experimental". But it's completely safe to use as it only changes how the game default textures are displayed and actually adds no new custom material to the game. No additional game resources required !!
