Dutch Modern Flats  1.0

About This File

Flats like these are quite common throughout The Netherlands. They can be found in the outskirts of any major Dutch city, but there are some smaller towns where they can be found as well. Examples of these smaller towns are Hoorn, Purmerend, Culemborg, Wageningen and Zeist. These flats have been erected in the 1960’s and early 1970’s following Le Corbusiers ideas of new town planning. Nowadays, flats like these have fairly cheaps rates and some of them stand in less favoured neighbourhoods, especially in bigger cities.

These models aren’t precise copies of real-life Dutch flats, but a mix of a few flats I know myself. I’ve included some pics of examples. The model has night windows and comes to you on a 2x2 lot with parking lots in front and a green yard on the back.

Cool, Haarlemmergold! You always come up with something unique. These actually look like some of the high rise style motels that cropped up in Jersey in the '60's. Thank You!

It looks great. However, I wouldn't really call this 'modern' (anymore), since these flats are mostly from the 1960s and 70s. (And haven't been built since.)

well, yeah, but they are certainly not 'post-modern'. I guess they are an expression of post-war modernism. And be glad they haven't been built since the mid seventies anymore!! ;-)

Great! Beautiful work. It would be even greater (we always want more...) if you could deliver these flats in different sizes like 3x2 and 4x2.

Ah, forgot to rate! And yes: they are definitely to be called modern exactly as Haarlemmergold says.

I like the modeling of this typical Dutch way of dealing with the housing problems of the sixties. I would have prefered to a "wider" model, as shown in the example pictures, though. Nevertheless, a great model and well executed.
