About This File

Updated June 21, 2008

This pack contains GLR Station and Rail/GLR Interchange Station lots, using specially made and modded BATs, so as to become semitransparent, ie allow the lot textures, props and automata in the interior to show through. For example, the rail-track textures in the pics are not modelled, instead they are the lot's texture, and of course the train, people and the kinetic sculpture props are visible.

The pack contains 9 lots, 3 GLR Stations and 6 Interchange Stations, in various sizes and connectivity configurations. The Small GLR Station is placeable directly on track, thus requiring no additional space. All other do stations require some but offer parking facilities as well, so that they can serve larger areas, instead of just the buildings within walking distance from the station.

The lots use prop families, so you will get a slightly different prop combination each time you plop them.
The stations are also specially modded, resulting in the following features:

  • The interchange stations with through rail track all allow both passenger and freight trains through traffic.
  • They do not perform traffic conversions from and to the tracks touching the station (a problem quite common to other rly station lots), only from and to the tracks entering the station.
  • The through traffic paths/arrows appear as straight and continuous lines instead of interrupted ones.
  • And they should work on the Mac! (get FileJuicer to extract them)

Capacities may look high, however this is to offset the effect of the through traffic (a problem common to all stations that are built on the tracks); all other stats are on par with Maxis standards.

June 21 2008 Update: Fixed a bug with the transit switchings, concerning the four Interchange Stations (Small and Large) with dual track. If you have installed the Draggable GLR Patch for these stations, please remove it (it contains the same bugs). Refer to the documentation for details and instructions on how to connect to draggable GLR track.

@Anung Mwka, thanks for your comment. The pack already contains 6 hub (Rail/GLR/Parking) stations. Combining these with sub and/or bus would require four times this (24 lots) to make all possible combinations, that is the number of lots could prove unmanageable. You can achieve a similar effect by placing a sub, bus or combo station next by. Check my roadtop set, you can make multi-transit hubs this way.

These look great in my cities. However, when I plop the 4 by 2 and 6 by 2 GLR/Rail station, brown boxes show up on the entrances. I have all of the files installed. Help please?

@bwatterud, pls install all three listed dependencies, no other props are used. Otherwise it may be a conflict between SG's props and some other pack. Could you send me some picks? I haven't got any other report about brown boxes, and this is really weird, as SG's prop-pack contains both the models and the exemplars, so you may not get brown boxes. Try re-installing SG's props.

Sweet stations here. I love them! I am saddened however, because I can't get the terminal transfer stations to work. I don't know why only those don't work, cause the through transfer stations work fine, just the terminal ones don't. Is there a trick to it? I love them, I just wish I could figure out how to use them all.

TangoUniform, all stations work, make sure they are properly connected (both ends) and commuters have a reason to use them. Otherwise send me a PM with pics. What do you mean by "terminal transfer stations".

It doesnt really work for me i dont see anything except the parking lot, the tracks and some floating objects. I have the newest version of NAM Its a good idea, especially considering NAM doesnt come with any GLR specific stations, or at least none that i find

Doesn't really work means you don't see the stations? You haven't installled the dependencies I guess (they are all listed in the Description tab). Give it another try.

as much as I love the design of the stations, I can't get hold of the MEGA Props from anywhere I've looked, so there is no floor texture. This really bothers me so I've forced myself to remove the lots :(

Don't understand, the models have got more than 11,000 downloads and haven't really been updated since their release (the update date is 6/21/08 but this concerned the description only). If you are using some pop-up blocker you must disable it for downloading from the STEX, but then how did you get this download?!!!

Very nice, however the ground paving doesnt apear for me. There is grass under the rails at first, and if i zoom in or out it becomes that blue-purple colour. I have left-drive installation and pathing patch was used.
