BLaM Essentials Version 1  1.0

   (45 Reviews)

About This File

This file contains 91 assorted props that will be used by the BLaM team in forthcoming projects. They cover a wide range of subjects, from flora and fauna, through vehicles, to industrial - plus one or two surprises!

One of the most important and unique features of these props, and indeed of all future updates to this file, is that the props have been tagged so that, if you instal a BLaM lot that requires a prop, and you do not have the prop installed, a news ticker message will appear in game advising you of this fact! All BLaM releases that use these props will be enabled to do this, so you need never worry about brown boxes again - well not with BLaM releases anyway!

If you use any of the props in this file for your own releases please do not (without our consent) include the BLaM Essentials file with your release, but instead point users to this file as a dependency.

File Tracking

As BLaM only ever intend to release two dependency packages - Essentials and Textures, it will be very important to ensure that you always have the latest version of the packs. For this reason we highly recommend that you track the packs using the File Tracking option above.

Additionally, if you would like to be advised when a new pack becomes available please feel free to subscribe to the BLaM Newsletter. This will be produced at random intervals during the year and will keep you advised of latest updates, news and goings on in the world of BLaM. Subscription to this newsletter does not mean you will be bombarded with spam, but you will be the first to know when new lots are released, and updates are made to the BLaM packs. To subscribe simply send a blank email with the subject "Newsletter Subscription" to blam_newsletter@onlyplace4.com

To instal

We would recommend that you create a folder named BLaM in your plugins folder and then simply unzip the entire folder within the zip file to this folder.

If you download and use, please comment and rate.

Interesting prop pack, the giant mechatronic spider and the organist's submarine are nice additions. Wonder what lot will these appear in.

I would like to give Qurlix a round of applause for developing tagged props / news ticker dependancy reminders. This is the only fool proof way to insure no one gets brown boxes. If you don't have the dependancies, the lot doesn't grow. Definately something to highlight.

Well thanks! But my contribution is nothing without the props, of course, so 99% of the applause should go to OP and Marcos. Now comes the fun part of putting the activator script on every lot we release...oy vey...

Tracker: NDEX wont be doing many of these UI extras, we believe that these eye candy extras waste space and cause the game to take longer whilst loading.

Very good. This site with all the lotmakers and other is just getting better and better. As you all know, Simtropolis makes SC4/rush Hour a great game. Thanks BLaM

"BLaM only ever intend to release two dependency packages - Essential and Textures, it will be very important to ensure that you always have the latest version of the packs" So whenever you add a few, I have to download everything I have again? And all the while Dirk is paying for the bandwidth... just shows that no solution is perfect, or even better than another.

I like this approach. I'd rather have all the dependencies in one place, even if it means downloading the latest version for new buildings. It's better than having to figure out if I have the right dependencies or not, out of a zillion files.

great! cool to see here! daeley updates wont be regular so the update will be probably once in a while, and also its better to have everythin in one place than everywhere and anywhere so its easy and straightfoward

updates will probably be only every four or five months so dont worry about copying it for every new building....

I'm just saying this system isn't "better" than any other system, especially as there really aren't a zillion files you have to look in. I had missing textures once, I looked em up and I had them found in <10 minutes. You may prefer this approach, but I disagree that it is objectively better.
