Fire Station No 2, part of the Smalltown, USA Series by JBSimio
Many observant visitors to Smalltown notice Fire Station Number Two and ask what happened to Station One. Oddly enough, Station Number One was built long before Smalltown was more than an intersection amongst the area farms. The need for some sort of fire protection was filled with a small wooden barn located near the country church in a different part of the county. It was only when the intersection began to grow into a small village that people realized that their fire station did them little good when it came to emergencies in town. The brick structure was erected in the middle of main street and officially dubbed “Station Number Two.” The decision to build with brick, an expense some fought at the time, was later justified when the original wooden barn burned down thanks to a feisty cow across the lane. Station Two has underwent several updates over the years, including overhead doors (with electric openers, no less!) and modern heating and cooling. The historic charm of the building remains and the station is still in use today. A plaque on the front of the building commemorates the loss of the first fire station in the county.
Fire Station No 2 is the eleventh release in the Smalltown, USA Series. The building is a modified version of the Fire Sticks Pool Hall released here earlier and made at the request of several SimTropolis members. This is a working fire station that can stand alone or be used in a wall to wall setting. All costs and statistics mirror the small fire station included with SC4, but the coverage area has been doubled. This was done mainly for realism in small farming communities where the original coverage radius was far too small in my opinion.
