About This File
Washington, D.C.
Map Overview
This map covers all of Washington, D.C., USA and its surrounding areas. It goes past the city's beltway, and covers much of Maryland andVirginia. It is very accurate and is also very close to exact scale. The bodies of water on this map include the Potomac River, AnacostiaRiver and Rock Creek. The elevation data is accurate as well. Forexample, the steep slope from the Potomac River to the Georgetown areaof Washinton appears accurately on this map. Although from the pictureof the map, this map looks more like a flat land vs. water rendition,it is certainly not. These elevations, as said before, are accurate andrealistic.
Scale
It is an area which is 32 by 32 kilometers in the game, or around 20 by20 miles. This translates into around 1,074 kilometers square or about415 miles square. The map's size is 2049 by 2049 pixels. The actualarea this map takes up, before being converted so it could be used inSimCity 4, is closer to 34 by 32 kilometers. Thus, this map is veryclose to exact scale. Building an accurate, to-scale replica ofWashinton, D.C. will be possible on this map.

Author's Notes
Washington, D.C. maps are very hard to make due to odd things with sealevel and missing DEM data. Luckily, I was able to make this accuratemap of DC. It's the first DC map that I'm aware of that covers thedistrict and all of its suburbs past the beltway. Have fun with it!
