  1. Plantation Bay

    Version 1.0

    20,702 Downloads

A smooth coastline with a barrier island, plenty of flat land, a large bay fed by two main rivers, and mountain ranges to the east and west make up the landscape of Plantation Bay. This map is 1537x1537 (24km x 24 km) in size, making it larger than the average map. However, it is not large enough to be a problem for rendering on almost any computer. The included config.bmp file is made up of a mix of all large and medium sized maps. This map was originally based off a USGS DEM of the Morro Bay, California area, but was extensively modified by hand and rotated for a different effect. Here are the links to a couple of larger pictures of Plantation Bay: 800x419 picture: http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7715/plantationbay1vf.jpg 3050x1599 picture: http://img463.imageshack.us/img463/3259/plantationbayfull1mq.jpg Enjoy!

Thanks for the compliments. JayStimson: I actually did use USGS DEM data (Of a place in Maine) for this map, even though I modified it quite a bit. I use the DEM's for all of my maps, then either modify them or keep them as real-world maps.

Set deep in the interior, Alpine Lakes boasts an abundance of rivers, lakes, and mountains along with an ample supply of flat land. It is a favorite vacation spot, with activities ranging from whitewater rafting, canoeing, camping, hiking, and fishing to swimming, boating, backpacking, and many more fun outdoor activities. The crystal-clear spring water of the region is another reason why tourists keep coming back. The oppurtunities in the Alpine Lakes region are endless, so it is up to you to decide its future..... Note: This map is originally based on a DEM of the Canton, Maine area, but it was heavily modified to include a better variety of terrain features, and for playability in the game. The region is 1409x1345 pixels in size, making it just a bit larger than the standard 1025x1025 region. A config.bmp file specifically for this map has been included. Added 6/22/06: Here is a link to a larger-sized picture of Alpine Lakes, if anyone's interested: http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/7861/alpinelakes4el.jpg
  4. Ocean Point

Thanks for the compliments everyone. The southern expansion terraforming is complete: Comments, por favor.
  5. Ocean Point

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Not enough time to individually address each, sorry. I have the latest regional transportation picture below. I outlined the interstate highways, and overlayed the interstate signs on them like I always do. Enjoy. Just the transpo picture wouldn't be enough for this little update, so I'm providing a little teaser of the southern expansion area. It is a 4x6 (Medium city tiles) area, 24 new tiles in all. I have begun to terraform this area. This picture is just a little hint of what is to come with the southern expansion: Comments, as always, are very much appreciated. Expect the next update within a week.
  6. Ocean Point

Thanks for the compliments. Well folks, Ocean Point isn't completely history. Yet, that is. For now, it's still alive and kickin'. Like I said in my goodbye thread, I won't be active at ST anymore, but that doesn't mean that I'm leaving for good. Occasional updates will probably still occur to Ocean Point. This update isn't too much....it's just the most recent regional satellite image. I excluded the southern expansion area from the picture, as I haven't started on that yet. The southern expansion is an area of about 4x5 medium maps or so that I have added on to the southern tip of the region. It's not terraformed yet, but I have some big plans for it. Enough talk for now, here's the picture: I'm hoping to provide updates on a monthly basis or so. Look out for that southern expansion.
  7. It's been a few months since I posted this thread, but I knew I'd be back to visit sometime. First of all, let me thank everyone for their great posts in this thread. It's been really good and feels great to see the amount of support I've recieved in this thread. Upon my return, I noticed that I have recently recieved none other than a 2005 Trixie! Seeing the trixie was a great surprise for me. The Trixie I recieved was for my map, Coastal Highlands, as best playable map. I'm honored and flattered to recieve this award, so I'm extending a big thank you to everyone who voted for/nominated it for the trixie. In addition, I was pleased to see that I was nominated for best city planner, another surprise. As for my CJ, Ocean Point, I will try to get out an update within the next couple of days. I've taken a look at the CJ section and wow, there is some amazing new stuff there. Ocean Point hit its peak many long months ago, and I use an old-school approach with it that I've been using since I started my first CJ over 2 and a half years ago, so I don't expect it to ever be what it once was again; however, if any followers of it are still around, look out for a new update. In addition, I may make more maps if I have the time. Mapmaking is a lot fun for me, and the occasional map is not out of the question. So while I don't think I'll become active here again, I do plan to continue to keep my word by coming back for visits every once in a while, visits like this one. Thanks again for the support everyone.
  8. A few months ago, I stopped coming to ST. I've been a member here for well over 2 years, and I remember this place in some of its earliest days. I'm not sure if anyone remembers me anymore, but if you do, I hope you will appreciate this post. ST has been great to me, but all good things have to come to an end sometime or another, and I think it's time I moved on from ST. I would have posted a thread like this when I first left, but I'll admit that I was bitter at some members and just didn't feel like coming here again. I'd like to say sorry now to everyone for not announcing my departure from this site. I've come back to post this thread now because I just think it's the right thing to do. I'd rather not leave everyone hanging on whether I'm still here or not. I'm fully aware of the Leaving/Returning thread, but from what I've seen in that thread, it is more geared towards leaving for vacations and such, so I hope this thread in this forum is not a problem. I've changed a lot recently, and so has this site. I'm doing other things now and spending less time at the computer, and I just don't have the time or desire to put as much effort into the game as I used to. That being said, I'd like to thank all of the mods and admins, especially dirk, as he is, after all, the dirktator. I'd also like to thank all of the members of this site, for supporting my many CJs over the years and my maps in more recent times. It's been a blast, and it couldn't have been what it was without all of these great members here. One of these days I may decide to come back and maybe update my CJ, or something like that. I'm not sure if I will ever post here frequently again, but I think a visit every once in a while is definately a possiblily. Again, I'd like to thank everyone for making this place such a blast. Thanks, and bye. comdude
  9. Lifelines: A SC4 Storybook by RHF

Hey, long time no talk man. I decided to check out ST for the first time in maybe 3 months and I was glad to see you're back in the CJ scene. I'm coming back basically to say that I'm leaving and that kind of stuff because I never did that when I left in the summer. I'm not back to stay, I don't plan on it at least. This site and myself have changed too much for me to spend much time here. Maybe I'll drop by once in a while. But yeah, I thought it would be the right thing to do if I came back to actually let everyone know that I'm leaving. I've checked out some stuff on the site and I wasn't too surprised to see what happened to the Mapp Squad.....lol. Seems like you've changed too, good to see neither of us are addicted to this place like we used to be....we were pretty crazy then lol. So I guess that's it, I'll probably be around sometime again someday but goodbye for now. Well about the CJ itself, it's looking great and I'm getting a little urge to play the game now that I'm seeing it. Great work.
  10. Ocean Point

Mikeaut: I actually did leave this CJ from last September until January, over five months, so I don't have a big problem with doing that. However, I don't think ST will ever be the same as it used to be again. With the sig links to CJs, there are 5 or 6 that have Ocean Point in them but most of them are, like you are, the good followers that have stayed with this CJ for a long time. I'm not big on the sig links to other ppl's CJs, but that's just me, because those are new. Don't worry if you're not commenting as much as before. I don't spend more than maybe 30 minutes on ST a day now anyway, so I understand. If I do keep working on OP or start a new region, I would probably be willing to PM you pictures of it if I do decide to suspend this CJ. jacqulina: Thanks, but for the reasons above, I don't know if I'm going to keep going with this or not.
  11. Ocean Point

TMS: Yeah, it sucks but I guess it's just the way it goes. This place will never be like it was in 2003 but at least it's still here. rufusleeken: Lol, I'll admit that most of that stuff that I posted was just a bunch of excuses for a general lack on interest (goes to edit post), but in short, I don't like people leeching off my work. Thanks for the compliments btw.
  12. Barquismeto - The Regional Story

It looks great so far. It's great to see nice CJs being made of my maps. BTW, could you put in the first post just a quick line saying this is the Coastal Highlands map by comdude21? Thanks, I would really appreciate that.
  13. Ocean Point

Thanks for the compliments Mexicanboy and TMS. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ EDIT: Ok, I'll say it a little shorter this time. First, this CJ may be suspended soon and if I stop posting here, it might be done for good. Second, let me say this. If you want to leech off this CJ without replying back, get the heck out of here. You're ruining all the fun for everyone else.
  14. Ocean Point

Thanks TMS. At least somebody replied. I'm still not sure about the NAM yet and I'm not sure about the future of this CJ either. I don't know whether or not I will continue to update before the southern expansion terraforming. For now, expect to see at least some of the southern expansion terraformed in an update by next weekend.
  15. Ocean Point

Just checking back here. I'm surprised there aren't any comments, but that's the way it goes these days. Anyways, yes, there will be a sporadic update here and there this summer. The southern expansion will be a slow process. I may fool around with the NAM, which I'm taking a look at now.
