About This File
These low-wealth Art Deco cottages, are based on housing in Napier, New Zealand. In 1931 the small town of Napier was rocked by an earthquake. Subsequent fires destroyed anything that was left. This paved the way for an all new Napier, an Art Deco Napier. For the situation, it was the perfect style. "With a little imagination and at minimal cost, simple, cubistic boxes could be turned into fashionable residences" (Adrian Tinniswood, The Art Deco House, Mitchell Beazley, 2002).
Updated 04-04-05: These cottages have been rescaled and placed on a 2x2 lot. Many thanks to Barby, for the fantastic lot and the building family.
