About This File

Capped with a distinctive dome, Portland, Oregon's 1000 Broadway has earned the affectionate nickname of the "Ban Roll-on Building". While this 27 story building may not be visible from the Willamette River, it gracefully adds to Portland's skyline when viewed from the West Hills. On a clear day, Mt. Hood rises majestically over the Portland skyline, with 1000 Broadway, at some angles, directly underneath.

Please see the read-me enclosed for more info about the real-life building.

The real building takes up a half-block lot, with an ugly parking garage on the other side. For aesthetic purposes, I modeled in the Standard Insurance Center's parking garage (aka the "Boogie-woogie Building"; in real life, a few blocks east) because I think it looks better in a full 4x4 block lot.

To install, download and unzip the main zip file onto your computer. Then, unzip the "models" file and whatever version you wish to use. Then insert the contents of the resulting folders into your C:/my documents/Sim City4/plugins folder, start SC4, and enjoy!

Stats:

  • 4X4 lot

  • CO$$: 2903 (ploppable and growable versions enclosed)

I love the dome and the colours. More people should try adding distinctive colours because the normal buildings don't really stand out. Excellent job!!

The colors are close. Admittedly, I think that the rounded middle part windows may match the others, it's really hard to tell with how the real building relfects the light. At any rate I think I made the colors too dark, but they work.

Oh, I enclosed a bunch of photos I've taken of 1000 Broadway in the readme file enclosed with the BAT. This is one of my most favorite buildings in Portland.

Yup, definetly not my first. I'm trying to get the old ones re-worked as fast as I can. This is the first BAT where I haven't had unrealistic job capacities on it... The old ones had either too many or too few jobs in them. I hope this one's more balanced out. Glad everyone likes it!

Thanks Hogmeister! I doubt I'm as good as Cerrulean. His style is like the Master Yoda to my Padawan Learner when it comes to BAT. hehehe. Still this town inspires for some reason. Probably because its so well-planned, and very beautiful. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else really.
