  1. NAM 36 Now Available

The NAM Team is pleased to announce the official release of the 36th edition of the Network Addon Mod, NAM 36. This release was ten months in the making, and marks the debut of a few long-awaited features. New features in NAM Version 36 - 13 September 2017 New FLEX Turn Lanes (FTL) feature added, providing a more intuitive and flexible alternative to the old Turn Lane Extension Pieces (TuLEPs, now deprecated). Draggable Elevated RealRailway (RRW) viaducts added at L1 (7.5 meter) and L2 (15 meter) heights. One-Way Road Signalized Intersection and Turn Arrow Project (SITAP) expanded to cover intersections with FLEX Turn Lanes and Road-based multi-tile NWM networks. Street Addon Mod (SAM) Set 11 - IndustrieSAM by mgb204 added, providing a new, industrial-style Street texture. Draggable Wide-Radius Curve functionality added to all applicable Street Addon Mod (SAM) override networks. RealRailway (RRW) FlexTrack functionality expanded to cover additional setups. R5 radius Multi-Radius Curves (MRCs) added to the Road network. Diagonal FLEX On-Slope Transitions added to the RHW, supporting 1 and 2-level transitions for the RHW-2, RHW-4, and MIS networks. R4 and R5 radii Multi-Radius Curves (MRCs) added to the RealHighway (RHW) system, with support for the L0 RHW-2, L0 RHW-4, and L0 RHW-6S netwoks. Overlap ability also added to the ground-level R2 curves for the RHW, allowing for smoother loop ramps. Diagonal MIS Connection support added to the One-Way Road Roundabouts. Texture glitch fixed with the Euro version of the L1-L4 RHW-6S Type A2 FLEXRamps/DRIs. Minor pathing fix to improve zone access on the TLA-7 network in the Network Widening Mod (NWM). The compression scheme on the NAM Installer has been changed, making it such that the external 7-Zip SFX layer surrounding it is no longer needed. New edition of the NAM documentation started, marking a return to the HTML format used prior to the NAM 31.x releases of 2013. Please note that due to the incredible scope of the mod, and the amount of time to adequately document features, that some sections may remain in an incomplete state. The Windows version of the mod is available here on the STEX (and is hosted directly on the site once again, thanks to the benevolent @Dirktator): NAM 36 for Windows [STEX] The Windows version will be mirrored at SC4 Devotion and ModDB. The Mac version will only be available at ModDB, due to its filesize (686MB). For more details on the release, including information on compatibility and installation, see the Read First document included in the package, which is also attached below. Hope you enjoy the latest update to this long running mod (over 13 years and counting!) and thank you for your continued support. -The NAM Team read-first-nam36.zip

  3. Airport and Neighborhood

Hello guys! This is the latest shot from Bellingham. And this will be the first stop from this entry. Today we will be talking about the airport. These are the three avenues that give you access to the airport at this moment. In red, we have Avenida 8 de Março. Yellow is Avenida Metropolitana Black is D. Pedro II Avenue. A huge infrastructure including a train line (Line D) A elevated station named after the avenue, Carlos Prates Station. And a expressway (Avenida 8 de Março) were created for accommodate the airport and give access to all the city zones. Photo from one of the intersections from Avenida 8 de Março Intersection between Avenida 8 de Março and Avenida D. Pedro II The Terminal station "Aeroporto" is The terminal of the line D of the Train. It was constructed with big parking lots and capacity for another future transit lines, like the Pedro II Avenue Monorail, that will link the airport to Vila Olympia. The airport itself has 2 terminals and a 2km runway. A new neighborhood, a new infrastructure!
  4. Hey everyone, I need a little bit of guidance here. I'm tryig to build a T-Interchange with NAM 35's RHW. But apperently, I can't plop a FLEXfly piece ontop of another FLEXfly without having to deal graphical issues. Is there a way i can resolve this, or should i just avoid ploping two (or more...) FLEXfly pieces ontop of eacht other? I am also seeing weird textures, when i use the FLEXRamp Type A2 together with RHW-6S L1. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance, Oerk

  6. 01_IN DREAMS WE TRUSTED

Ah, eight months. A lot has happened since that very last update. New interests. New realization. New experiences. There was a moment where I wanted to start over fresh but couldn't because of several commitments, like funding for a trip, finishing up school and contemplating about my future. Not anymore, I'm starting fresh. Welcome to the underground. --- It was definitely not at that time, my あの頃じゃねえ (ano koro janee), when I was thinking that this thing would not happen. I hated all of this before, that side that no one would talk about. Then slowly and steadily, I suddenly feel like I'm going to take off from the things I hated. What I hate is what I like now. It felt that the old had died but the new had been here all along, waiting for me to make my move. And so, my story begins... Disclaimer: Please watch the video on its entirety. After the video, you can begin the Spotify playlist located to your right-hand side. --- 01_IN DREAMS WE TRUSTED In dreams we trusted. I had thought for it for such a long time, the dream of moving to the big city. I had been stuck at this place in the middle of the country for such a long time that I had forgot what the big city looked like in my childhood. I’m already 23 years old and there’s no employment for me that can be found in this small town. All I can see are farms, farms and more farms. I mean, what kind of future would I have if I stayed here this way? Most of my schoolmates had already abandoned the town and moved to the big city. So, I decided to leave my parents and live away from my own from now. For sure, that was the dream that I trusted. I don't expect being familiar with the city and all, but it was worth the damning try. I said "ittekimasu" to my parents. My parents are sad and all, but it was for my future. You see, my mom was a hardworking woman running an agar-agar company and a meat packing company. My dad is a businessman in a construction company, but for sure I don't want to work at that place. I am that determined to move to the city and see it for myself. In my mind, I started to imagine how the city would look like. A lot of jobs are on demand, and I for sure can find something that I could make good money with. They all said to follow my dreams. So, I am goind to follow it through even though I may end up falling to hell. I boarded the local train to the prefectural capital so that I can transfer to a bus that would take me to the capital city. Internally, I am screaming "[expletive] it, I am going to the big city". I am on my way. On the way to the prefectural capital, I saw trees and lots of them. I thought that somewhere outside of this forest of despair will be that city of dreams. I stuck to my dreams because I trust it. In no time, this scene will be over and would have been replaced by a thicket of concrete, or whatever it's called. A sea, an ocean that I may not as well navigate like [expletive], I dont care. I had come to realize to not notice the same-old-same-old things and look for that one opportunity. After a long while contemplating about a new chapter in my short life, I had arrived at the prefectural capital and boarded a bus bound for the big city. For me, I thought this prefectural city is good enough for me; however, it really is the big city where everyone's at. The companies are all there as well as some people that I may have known from school. I haven't seen them in years. I decided not to enter college and all that [expletive] but it was mostly because I am too lazy to take exams in order to make myself some sort of a company slave. During the journey I realized how crazily dumb it was for me to not enter college. Of course everyone in the city will be looking for those degrees that they sought with university students. I only have a diploma in high school and a degree specializing on nothin'. if I could have entered the lowest university level that I could find then I could have entered it, but too late now. I'm already at the highway heading to the big city. So far, aside from a few houses, I could only find other cars and lots of green things that I prefer not to discuss anymore. You never know how [expletive] excited I was to finally reach the big city. Everything was so different from the countryside! There are a lot of concrete, not so much trees, there are more cars than I thought and the amount of people is vexing. I've been at the bus long enough to see the slow gradual change from the inaka to the big city. I couldn't wait for my new adventures in here. What's in store for me I do not know yet. I still have so many big expectations about the big city, but so far, so good. I have finally reached the end of my bus trip and had arrived in the big city. I could not believe how gigantic these buildings are in real life. There are so many people selling various fruits, vegetables and other things on totally overblown prices... I don't think the money saved for this trip would be enough for even a week here in the city, and I still haven't found any employment as of yet. My landlord had been expecting me for a while now to move into the new apartment near the station for a while now. Walking through the neighbourhood, it isn't that bad after all. Since it was a holiday today, there weren't that much movement in traffic. I could only see a few cars down the road. The buildings were all pretty good and all and there's a large theatre that I don't know what in the world they playin', probably a thing called damn kabuki. I wasn't that interested in all of that jazz so I didn't learn that much about theatre at school. I was more interested in music back then. i think I'm still interested in it but had forgotten which one was my favourite. Oh shoot, I forgot to get money! Oh well, the bank was accross the street so that I could get that. Just around the corner from here is probably the apartment that I will be staying. Maybe it'll be that tall building behind the theatre... First, I thought the apartment that I will be staying at was that. From what I could remember, that was the one that was advertised to me. Upon arriving at the building though, they said that it's not really an apartment but more of an office space. [expletive]. Looking accross the street at the park you can see a couple of people doing acrimonious things. I don't even know if they have a home or something. Is this the dream that I really trusted, a life in the city that would eventually end up in ruin? Looming over these people at the park is a memorial for people who had died in the war that happened a long time ago. It had been kept meticulously clean but you can also see the marks where graffitti once occupied the white marble. The more that I walked through the neighbourhood the more I feel depressed. For sure, this will be my life from now on, seeing people sell and cut beef, "Yankees" wearing the most hip-hop clothes out there in the country. Immigrants trying to sell me local food at a cheaper price but of varying quality. Actually, there's a lot of people here, but they're mostly either tourists looking for latest beauty products or medicine, or locals looking for the lowest priced deal. I don't mind the sheer amount of people, but I would have been [expletive] scared of everyone around. You don't know which one would beat you up or steal money from you. Foreigners said that we as a country is safe but could you really trust them? Of course you will be really scared. Who the hell are all of these people? めっちゃ人が狭いだよね! (It's so claustrophobic in here with this much people) in here. Adults, children, teenagers, you never know which one is which, as if it is just a blur mostly. I don't remember any of their faces, the people that I see on the street. I may be just overwhelmed with confusion right now. I tried to walk in a straight line but there are just too many of them along the way. But I think I have reached my apartment tonight. It's still on a pretty busy portion of the arcade, but at least the roof of the structure shields the noise away from me. It's quite the measly apartment. I got it for cheap but I need to pay a portion of the electricity and water. Below it is a store owned by someone I have yet to meet. They said that he usually sells clothing and only goes to the establishment every two weeks to see what's up with everyone. And so, this is what it's like in the big city. I thought my dream would work out as it should be, only to be crushed by reality. In dreams we trusted, all right. --- July 5, 2006. Stepping out of the Azusa (Super Express), I arrived at the vast expanse of the railway station. The walls were depressingly blood red and the paint on the steel pillars used to hold the structure is peeling off. On a nearby wall was an unsightly spectacle of competing graffiti from rival gangs, none of which am I part of. Wearing a black hoodie with a striped black and white t-shirt, brown pants and a rucksack for an extra shirt, I begin anew to the hustle of this huge city. [expletive] Komaki, my future isn’t there and everyone’s at the city nowadays. Though I don’t fit in with the rest of these city people I could not give a [expletive] about them waiting to get into the red-striped loop line train. I need to get to Takadanoura to meet my landlord. My landlord's head office on this tall building in the big city. They said that I will be staying at some shambled apartment nearby on a shopping arcade sans the amenities that he has just on his office. Oh well, I guess it's a dog eat dog world out there. But in dreams we trust. === Thank you for viewing this update. As a lot of you may have been surprised with this release, let me set things straight out of here. No, this is not an Okaiken update. This is not a continuation on anything but a new story with new characters in a nation that I refuse to name.

  13. Greece - Part III

Our tour of Greece begins with one of its most recognizable landmarks - the iconic windmills of Mykonos. Windmills used to be a defining feature of the Greek landscape - you could find hundreds of them dotting the various islands. Today, only a handful remain - and the ones in the best condition can be found on the island of Mykonos. Built back in the 16th century, they once harassed the powerful northern wind into grinding wheat. While no longer operational, they still serve as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. We continue to tour the islands - this time, stopping in Crete and visiting its famous ruins of Knossos. Called "Europe's oldest city" - people once settled here as far back as 7000 BCE. The first major palaces were built back in 1900 BCE and became one of the greatest sights in the Mediterranean - it was far more complex and flamboyant than any of the other palaces in the region. Around 1700 BCE, massive earthquakes struck the region - initially destroying the palace. Over the next couple hundred years, the palace was destroyed and rebuilt a number of times, due to volcanoes, more earthquakes, and invaders - and was ultimately abandoned around 1375 BCE. While much of it remains in ruins today - there's still plenty to do and explore, making it another popular tourist destination. We head to the mainland where we'll visit Greece's most famous landmark - the Parthenon. Part religious temple (dedicated to the goddess Athena) and part treasury - this iconic structure was built between 447 and 432 BCE and stands high over Athens, at the top of its monumental Acropolis. While the structure was in decent condition for many centuries - a Venetian siege back in 1687 caused much of the damage you see today, as nearly 700 cannonballs were launched into its famous columns. We head further north, into the incredible landscapes of Meteora. Since the early 14th century, the local monks have been building monasteries high up on these steep rocks - there's really no other place like it on Earth. While most would associate Greece with the sea and sunny days - its not uncommon to see snow here, as the mountains will essentially block out gusts from the sea, causing massive temperature swings. No matter what time of the year you visit though - Meteora will still take your breath away. We head back into the Aegean Sea to visit one of Greece's most beautiful islands - Santorini. A massive volcano blew the top off of this island back in 1646 BCE - drastically changing the look of the island and turning it into one of the most unique destinations in all of the Mediterranean Sea. Today, beautiful white villas flank the steep cliff sides - and the views from the top make for an unforgettable trip. We head back south - making sure to stop at one of the most stunning ruins in all of Greece, the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion - located just south of Athens. The Ancient Greeks picked the perfect spot to honor their God of the Sea - the views of the ocean from here are absolutely incredible. Built back in 440 BCE, it was never fully completed - but still served as an important place of worship for many decades. Our last stop is one of Greece's most beautiful and stunning destinations - Navagio Beach, located on the island of Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea. Back in 1980, the freightliner MV Panagiotis crashed into the beach after a night of stormy conditions - and it's been abandoned ever since, giving the beach its famous nickname of "Shipwreck Beach". Between the crystal clear water, pristine sand, and towering limestone cliffs - its a perfect place to spend the day. Note: To make the Navagio Beach scene, instead of using a cliff mod - I ended up creating my own BAT to get the best result. If anyone is interested in the model and wants to try their hand with it - feel free to PM me Don't forget to comment, like, and follow True Earth if you haven't already! -korver --- Previous Update: "Tour of Africa: North Africa" Big thanks to @_Michael, @Toby Ferrian, @redfox85, @CorinaMarie, @raynev1, @bladeberkman, @Odainsaker, @bobolee, @RandyE, @scotttbarry, @Manuel-ito, @Tonraq, @MushyMushy,@kingofsimcity, @TMTS, @Elenphor, @Jonas_Chaves, @RobertLM78, @Marushine, @mrsmartman, @Namiko, & @mike_oxlong for all the likes!

  15. lacus exaruit map (12x12 Lg Tiles)

    Version 1.0.0

    129 Downloads

This is a new map in my could-be-a-real-place-but-isn't series. It is 12 x 12 large tiles (144 total). I've been adding features to the source code of the Offline Planet Map Generator. I created this map to appeal to peeps who like a lot of flat land to build mega cities (or lots of flat farms) while still having a realistic, random shape in all three dimensions. My 2nd preview picture above is shown using the Columbus Terrain Mod 2 which I modified by setting MaxBeachWidth to 0x9 and MaxBeachAltitude to 9. I feel this defines the coast lines better. Water is by @drunkapple. The pictures in the preview bar above are: The full topographical map using colors similar to those in the in game mini map. The darker green and tan colored areas are basically flat in the game. (If you find this image useful for planning out your overall region design, click the image to enlarge it and then do a Save as... since it's a full sized image with lots of detail.) Region view using Region Census (The following pictures are as generated by the terrain creation program.) The story behind this one is that a few hundred years ago there was a nice central lake: Recently some underwater explorers accidentally pulled the drain plug and the waters have been receding: Which brings us to today. The central lake is all but gone and yet there is now so much more relatively flat land to develop a huge farming community or, for the more technologically minded, a thriving metropolis: To use: Put the three files in a folder called lacus exaruit under your Region folder of SimCity 4 in your Documents. Then simply render in game with Shift+Control+Alt+r from that region screen like any other grayscale import. Note: Some Terrain Mods have altered the original Maxis settings for the total height, sea level, and import scale factor. If your render does not look like the above pictures, this will be why.
  16. Tour of Africa: West Africa

Our tour resumes in West Africa - and for anyone traveling across this landscape, you'll find countless mud and thatched roof huts dotting the land for as far as the eye can see. The ones we see here in Rural Congo are simple, yet beautiful - they've been a staple for the locals for thousands of years, and for good reason. They're easy and efficient to build - and they withstand the elements fairly well. We travel further west through Nigeria and into Benin, but from this point forward, the only transportation option is by boat. We've entered one of the many swampy lagoons that dot the shoreline, and with a little help from the locals, we'll soon find one of the most unique destinations in all of Africa. We've made it to Ganvie, Benin - called the "Venice of Africa", there's really nothing else like it in the world. When translated into English, Ganvie literally means "we survived" - a reminder of events that happened hundreds of years ago. The Tofinu people that lived in the area needed a way to escape the slave trade - so they moved to stilt houses on top of the surrounding Lake Nokoué. It was their only option - and they were finally able to find peace here. West Africa is known particularly well for its beautiful beaches and scenery - and few can compare to the ones you might find on the coastlines of Ghana. With their natural beauty and an occasional shipwreck or two like the ones found in Fete - these beaches have attracted countless tourists from across the globe. As we make our way further west through the dense jungle, its a common sight to see local markets dot the landscape in countries such as Guinea. Just about everything imaginable is sold here - livestock, poultry, yams, sweet potatoes, and of course, lots and lots of green bananas. We take a look around, picking up a couple pieces of authentic African clothing as well - a beautiful reminder of our tour. Although elephants have been hunted to the point of near extinction in West Africa due to the demand for their ivory tusks, there's still a number of places to find them if you look hard enough. Niokolo-Koba National Park in Senegal is one of the best remaining spots, and jungle safaris are one of the most popular tourist attractions. Move slowly, though - you never know when a wild chimpanzee might dart across the road in front of you.. Our last stop is one of the most historically important cities in all of West Africa - Timbuktu. This desert city was once a great trading post for goods traveling from West to North Africa - back in the 1300s, you might have even seen the legendary Mansa Musa (emperor of the Kingdom of Mali) pass through these streets with his caravan. Musa himself played a pivotal role in this history of Timbuktu - with a net worth of over $400 billion, he built mosques wherever he went. This included the great Djinguereber Mosque back in 1327, among others - all of which would be turned into universities and helped to turn Timbuktu into a great educational city as well. When you walk through these streets, you really feel like your stepping back in time - not much has changed over the years, and its truly a one of a kind experience. 17. Very Large Maps Mod

    Version 1.0.0

    3,131 Downloads

Tired of SimCity 4's puny little map sizes? Even the largest tiles are only 4x4 km, but this mod makes it possible for an even larger map size by adding a "Very Large" 8x8 km (512x512 tiles) map! That's 4 Times bigger than the largest tile in the game and 8 times bigger than SimCity 2013's Maps! SimCity 4 by default has 3 map sizes: Small 1x1 km (64x64 tiles) Medium 2x2 km (128x128 tiles) Large 4x4 km (256x256 tiles) This mod adds: Very Large 8x8 km (512x512 tiles) That is 4X larger than the largest map! Files included in ZIP file: -"8x8_km.dat" - Includes the larger map size option and adds "yellow" as the option in "paint" when editing. -"Compatibility_Module" - Allows for compatibility with SC4 Mapper and SC4 Terraformer. -"Larger Maps.dll" - Required to allow the game to recognize the larger map sizes as tiles and allows them to load as well as allows cities to be built on them. Also makes it possible to save these larger maps. Also includes two new songs that would make great background music to play while you build your metropolises on those nice larger maps! No dependencies, works with SC4 Rush Hour, with or without the patches. Please read the README first before installing! How to Install: 1. Open the "Larger Maps Mod.zip," then copy both the "8x8_km.dat" and "Compatibility_Module" into your plugins folder. You can also copy "Compatibility_Module" into the root directory of your SC4 Mapper and SC4 Terraformer installs for support of this mod. 2. Copy the "Larger Map.dll" into your C:/Program Files/Maxis/SimCity 4/Apps folder (Program Files (x86) if you use a 64-Bit Windows) Also, copy the two songs from the "New Soundtrack Music" folder into C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Radio\Stations\Mayor\Music. 3. Load up the game as normal. How to Use This Mod and Get Larger Maps: 1. On Region View panel, go and create a new region and name it as you please. Note that you'll only see the usual three map sizes. The 8x8 km map does not appear by default as THAT would require modifying the .exe file. 2. Exit game 3. Go to your Documents/SimCity 4/Regions/"Name of your new Region" created in Step 4. 4. Right click on the config file and open with paint. 5. Zoom in. You will see 3 different colors that represent the three map sizes: Red (1x1 Pixels) Small Green (2x2 Pixels) Medium Blue (4x4 Pixels) Large *Yellow (8x8 Pixels in this mod) Very Large* You can expand the region size by clicking right down menu and expanding it down right. 6. To create 8x8 km maps, go to edit colors on Paint and select yellow. Make sure on right pane it shows as: Red: 255 Green: 255 Blue: 0 7. Draw it out where you want with 8x8 pixels and fill it out. (Make sure the other map sizes are whole or they'll glitch). If you want multiple 8x8 km Maps, draw more 8x8 pixel squares. Mix in other colors above for mix of map sizes. Fill the region with yellow if you want all 8x8 km maps, just make sure you have room! (32x32 pixels can fit 4 8x8 km maps). Here's an example of the 8x8 km map properly drawn out: 8. Click save and exit paint. Start-Up the game. Might take several tries to get it to work but it'll work. 9. Once the game starts, you should see your very large city tile on region view. If it's a Blank Space, just click on the space, since it'll load anyways and build away! (It'll show up on region view once you save and exit back out) 10. Enjoy your much larger space!!! If you have any issues, please refer to the troubleshooting section in the README file. This mod is fully compatible with Ploppable Cows and Nuclear Starbucks! Major Bugs/Limitations: - Roads cannot be built past 4x4 km west or southward. UPDATE: Just fixed the issue and updated mod. It's possible now, but will cause clipping. - Game will crash after a certain prop limit, and there may be prop pox on larger cities - Saving takes a very long time (about 5-10 minutes on my PC) BACKUP YOUR GAME BEFORE INSTALLING THIS MOD! Minor Issues/Bugs: - God Mode mountains and valleys may clip with ground and trees after 4x4 km - Very Large cities get very laggy - Water may not be wet enough after 4x4 km - The furthest zoom out isn't far enough due to very large map size - 16x16 km was originally planned as well but would crash the game and cause an infinite loop that corrupted every hard drive in my computer and their backups (Thank goodness I backed everything up online). - 8x8 km maps decrease the chances of that happening - May cause little sims to colonize your living room and build tiny metropolises. This is due to the side effect of the mods - Music may cause minor frustration - Not compatible with my 3D Camera mod - U drive it works but if you pass 4km, your PC may crash - Minor clipping outside 4x4 km - Staring at the loading screens may crash the game - Showing emotion may crash game - Mod is fully compatible with NAM, CAM, SPAM, SAM, SLAM, RAM, JAM, FLAM, DAM, CLAM EXAM, INSTAGRAMA-RAM and SCAM - Taking screenshots might crash the game. - Taking screenshots with print-screen crashes the game and your PC - Taking screenshots with your iPhone crashes the camera, game, PC and may break a tripper and cause power outages. Samsung camera works though. - Disasters work with no issues (in real life of course) - Using "Obliterate City" will obliterate your city, region, and your entire game. (due to corruption) - Game will crash if loading city while sustaining a frown in real life - Music may cause minor frustration - May change your whole game forever - May cause depression - The yellow pixels can also be drawn as 16x16 pixels for a 16x16 km map. DO NOT DO THIS. Stick with 8x8 km. - If you do load the game with a 16x16 km map, your PC may explode. Proceed at your own risk. DISCLAIMER: PCWHIZ24 will not be held liable for any permanent corruption, loss, depression, injuries, fires, blown eardrums, FBI visits, power outages, or miniature living room colonies caused by this mod. Aside from those minor bugs, it's still a great mod considering it's a game from 2003!
  18. In my biggest city with 415k population, the Garbage won't go down to zero anymore on the charts. It stays around 60, so it's very low but still exists somewhere. I have a deal sending tons of garbage out to another city, but the garbage on the chart seems to be stuck at 60 or so.
