What Type Of SimCity 4 Player Are You?
Electricbassguy replied to Haljackey's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I am mostly a "Playing the Game" player. I try to build good cities but I don't follow a strict plan that will guarantee the best results. I also like the part of making each city terrain. It's nice when I'm able to actually create a realistic territory that looks like it could be a real place. I do kind of miss the older games where you could automatically generate terrain based on specifications but I guess with the region instead of one city, you can't do that anymore without some mod or external software. -
Garbage won't go down to "0" on the chart
Electricbassguy posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
In my biggest city with 415k population, the Garbage won't go down to zero anymore on the charts. It stays around 60, so it's very low but still exists somewhere. I have a deal sending tons of garbage out to another city, but the garbage on the chart seems to be stuck at 60 or so. -
SimCity 3000 Unlimited (GOG) UFO attack breaks game, never ends disaster
Electricbassguy posted a topic in SimCity 3000
There doesn't seem to be a forum for SC3000. Hope this is okay in this section. Last night I bought SC3000 Unlimited and now in the future years, UFOs seem the break the game. There is a "goto disaster" after the UFOs have left and destroyed things (usually expensive things). If I save the game and reload, the disaster will restart and even more stuff gets destroyed. I think the game has broken and I have to start over? -
A bus stop next to freeway goes on freeway w/o onramps?
Electricbassguy posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Not sure if this is a bug or feature, but I don't see it as realistic, the bus station has people wait right by the freeway and lets them all on where cars are allegedly zooming by? -
Difficulty level - starting money only or more
Electricbassguy replied to xoham's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I've played easy more though in a developed region I've had success with Hard as well. The game gets progressively easier as your region gets more developed though... the job demands spike up to the max because of the other cities and their airports, etc. I used to think it was just the money, but I now realize my Easy city would not get a spaceport. How difficult is it to do an entire region starting Hard? I know the first city is the toughest to build. -
Community Interviews Maxis: Part 2
Electricbassguy replied to Jokurr's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'm still looking forward to the game. Maybe I'm a bit younger (or just a bit more internet addicted) than most of the people here, but I am excited about being able to play together with my friends. Sim City 4 wasn't really "realistic." I also think a lot of us are used to the mods that have been developed by users for SC4. I know that it's not going to be quite what I remember about Sim City 1, but I think Maxis will put out something good. They know Societies was a mistake. -
SimCity: Wishlists
Electricbassguy replied to VeritaScientia's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Be able to name every street in my city to the point where I can actually see the street signs and see the buildings have addresses like 650 Jessrond St. Bike lanes on roads, and ordinances to encourage bike riding. Being able to adjust rail fares to encourage usage/discourage overcrowding. Actually having a real "sports team" in the stadium with a team record that's based on how big my city is and how dedicated the "fans" are. SC2k had something like that. More sizes of road... SC4 was very limited in that. You just had street, road, avenue, then highways. Real cities (around where I live) have "expressways" that would be somewhere between avenue and highway. Maybe just a simpler road structure with the ability to add lanes for a cost too. Bring back the silly newspapers from SC2K. More ways to combat pollution than "Clean Air Acts" and building some more parks. If we could get a real Sim City sequel, I'd like a city where the region is constantly moving in time. Not just me leaving one city in Year 109 and the other is still in Year 26, and the random maps are all in "Year 0" More interaction with police and fire. If you fund police way too much, you'll get a lot of false calls that frustrate them, etc. Bring back real years. 1900 you only have coal and oil... 1950 you get gas, 1980 wind, etc. That is one that that I did not like about SC4. All the buildings were unlocked by your city's status, nothing had to be "invented." -
That map is nice and has good details on the north/east bay... this is the area I am more interested in. http://www.brighternames.com/Silicon_Valley_name.html The landscape would not be as interesting as the rest of the map, though.

Would it be possible to request a Santa Clara County map? South bay, stretching from Palo Alto and Los Altos down to areas like Gilroy or Morgan Hill. The SF map that comes with the game cuts off on the south end around Menlo Park/Redwood City.
