  1. I want to build a city that has no access except by plane. Is there a mod to do so? To create the idea of a town so remote, that it's accessed only by plane? I'm not sure how it will work out economically, but it would be fun to see.
  2. Coronavirus (COVID-19)

From the United States Code. I think the following answers how I feel. §1621. Perjury generally Whoever— (1) having taken an oath before a competent tribunal, officer, or person, in any case in which a law of the United States authorizes an oath to be administered, that he will testify, declare, depose, or certify truly, or that any written testimony, declaration, deposition, or certificate by him subscribed, is true, willfully and contrary to such oath states or subscribes any material matter which he does not believe to be true; or (2) in any declaration, certificate, verification, or statement under penalty of perjury as permitted under section 1746 of title 28, United States Code, willfully subscribes as true any material matter which he does not believe to be true; is guilty of perjury and shall, except as otherwise expressly provided by law, be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. This section is applicable whether the statement or subscription is made within or without the United States.
  3. Tech Companies leaving San Francisco for Midwest

Question is, will they just drive up the rent and housing prices? I mean a bunch of rich people means expensive market...does it trickle down in price to the lower middle class and working class? I mean, people say, "Well in California, you're paying for the view." No, in Cali, including SoCal, you could afford to live even in the 70s with a decent salary. It's not just the view, though the view is nice. I just don't want the prices to go up on the Regular Joe because some yuppies decided that, as much as they like living in a huge blue state, the red states are a lot more friendly to business. But maybe it will balance things, by giving some of the weight to the scales. Now that some companies are out of the city, the scales will tip.
  4. Windows 11 discussion thread

What's the new browser called? I don't know why thought they were going to beat out Chrome by giving it a new name of something. Microsoft Fall? You were on the edge (Microsoft Edge). How about Microsoft Saved....Bill Gates saved us from the inconvenient Chrome. Just face it, Billy. No one users the browser anymore. You're trying to bring Blockbuster stores back, and people have Amazon. Maybe you should go into the bookselling business. Or launch your own rockets into space.
  5. World Affairs

My biggest regret...not really...but of moving from LA is I was not there long enough to experience a small scale earthquake. I'm sure I'd have to go through a big one. I'm not scared of them really, though I've never been through one, than being in the ocean after watching Jaws. One woman said she like them.
  6. Phishing Warning Regarding Facebook

Yes, I think it was a good idea to get rid of it once we saw Zuckerburg smoking his meats. Actually, I got rid of it, then got it back. I even caught a post removed by the Olympics people--whoever they are--for posting a clip of some women playing rugby. Fair enough...copyrighted. I just said what's better than a bunch of women tackling and wrestling with each other? My fatal mistake was likely saying what I was watching.
  7. Phishing Warning Regarding Facebook

There is some phishing that is quite popular on Facebook right now. If you receive a friends request from someone already your friend, check to see if they did not drop you. If you are still their friend, you know it's a scam profile. Another sign, is the profile will have no friends or only a few. You can alert Facebook about this. The way it works is it's not a hack necessarily, but what they want is to finally get someone who will fall for a "friend" asking for private information, such as a phone number, address, or even credit card number. The scam works eventually, of course. Just be careful. Let your friend know, too, so you can both report it.
  8. Not a player...been SimCity user and intending to buy, but watched enough videos on the game in the process of preparing to buy to get an idea...and lived in a large city--LA, as well as a smaller large metropolitan area in the Southeast. Road layout. If you're going for European, I understand needing to make some narrow streets, etc, but remember Paris has some pretty large boulevards. Assuming an American city, not enough large avenues is a problem. Take LA, for example...as notorious as it is for traffic, what helps is having large avenues, like Western that go from more or less the bottom of LA County up to Hollywood. And a good freeway system. LA might have its cursed traffic jam, but it's still a good layout. Also, freeway bypasses...you know, the type of freeways that go around a city. Also, good public transportation layouts. Think of each line having a purpose. All lines should go to one center point (downtown), but then have a plan where each line intends to turn around. You can also do endings in the same place, but going through different neighborhoods so that those citizens who need to get to the same point use those. Same with subways and train lines. Those should have a POINT. These points should all be important areas in your city, ideally the edge. LA's problem, and they are fixing it, is their subway lines don't extend far enough. They are finally building one to the airport and extending the Purple Line to at least Beverly Hills...maybe Santa Monica. The idea that they ended it in the Central LA was bad design. People should have a direct subway line to one of the most important points in the city--Santa Monica. LA's problem is this: it's a big city with massive geographic obstacles where the buses have a hard time getting you into the Valley from Koreatown in less than an hour. You live in Koreatown and are trying to become an actor, but don't drive. It's a heck of a long ride. The problem is, even with what subway and train there is, it's really ineffective. You could blame the mountains between the city and the Valley, but I think they could do it, though I'm no expert on engineering, so maybe I'm wrong, but a subway line right up to the studios from the bottom of LA County would really be a blessing. Those studios (most) are not in Hollywood. They are way up in Burbank, which with public transport, is a heck of a long ride. I use LA because it's known for its traffic jams, but they have done a good job of mitigating it, but have a long way to go, I think. Traffic is a big factor in any case, so: 1) avenues ever so often that go directly from one place to another. This works well one a grid layout especially, but even without a grid system, you can do it. 2) a good freeway system. Freeway bypasses are important 3) A very deliberate bus system. It's too easy to just say "Well here are my bus lines" but not have no system. 4) A good subway/train layout with clear destinations to important parts of the city. 5) Subway layouts should not be as interwoven as bus lines. They should be very simple, but always lead to an important destinations. Also, subway and trains should always have a stop ever so often at bus routes so the passengers can connect. Always do this at your major avenues.
  9. Has anyone watched a whole game by their team(s)? I was wondering if, soccer games, for example, were actually say around nine minutes to kind of be ten percent of the standard 90 minute soccer game. I'd just like to know to see if watching them with the Real Time Mod would be the normal time of a game. I'd just love to watch a whole game by my team and it be realistic. Sounds weird maybe, but it would be fun. I don't actually have Skylines yet, as I'm in the process of moving and waiting because I'm saving money and will once I get there.
  10. Hello. New here.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry for the late reply and thanks, but have been busy lately.
  11. Hello. New here.

So, newbie here. Name is Brandon. I have SimCity 4, but I think I like Skylines better, though I haven't bought it yet. Live in LA, recently having moved. A beautiful skyline and everything, though not so affordable. I love Santa Monica and the Pacific. I remember landing in LA...it was night, but you could see the mountains as you flew lower and you realized you were in that city of dreams. I remember waking up the next day, and walking around Koreatown, so excited about my new home and life. I was trying to by a Metro pass, which was a waste of a hundred dollars. I went down to Western and Wilshire first, because my phone said you could by one there. I thought it was the main place. But, I soon realized no, so I walked a few blocks down to a 7-11 where you could get it. $100 dollars. A waste of money, because everything but the subway was/is free. The buses and the train were free. Still are. And you can jump the subway, because the police are rarely there. More or less it's free. But, yes, I remember the Pacific rising ahead of me as walked down Colorado from the train stop...and there she was in all her beauty. I walked on the sand and put my hands in the Pacific. It was all so beautiful and an ecstasy. Sadly, nothing went according to plan. I went to become a sommelier, but couldn't find work in the hospitality business. That and then my seizures started up again...all that drinking of wine and vodka. I have a Russian soul, as you can see by my username...if you know the ballet. I passed out on the streets after a night of heavy drinking, like you see in those crazy videos of life in Moscow with those Russian alcoholic drinking in their unique way,. Here's how you drink vodka: you shoot it, the vodka chilled and eat after. The thing is, with Moscow drunks, it's straight from the bottle sometimes, right on the bus even. Have to watch these videos guys. The place I was staying was owned by a Iranian, but the manager was this beautiful Russian I fell in love with. The other manager was Russian, and the other Belarusian. It was more or less run by Slavs. Gee, the Russian woman is so beautiful. Such proportions. Tall, like I like a woman. Well, sadly, I am moving to Baltimore now. It's cheaper and it has the best neurosurgeons in the nation. I'm a candidate for brain surgery because of my epilepsy. I started having big seizures again, after they had been treated down to small ones. All that drinking every night. Bottle of wine...vodka. To be a sommelier, you have to drink a lot, but the problem is, epilepsy and alcohol don't mix. Well, long story short, LA is great. Hollywood, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica. I'll miss her...the Russian woman and the city. As to city simulations, I got into it after my dad gave me the first SimCity for Nintendo when I was like nine. And I fell in love with them. And so, here I am. If you are ever in LA and need a cheap place to stay, The Rumi is very affordable with weekly rates. It's in Koreatown, close to downtown. No roaches or bedbugs. Pay for your first couple of nights via a travel site and then say you want to go weekly or monthly. And please, don't think the Russians are rude because they are so serious. Trust me, the Russians have a saying, "He who smiles without a reason, is an idiot." They don't smile at you, the clerks, at the stores in West Hollywood (where most of Russian Americans live), but they all open up when they get to know you. It's simply their culture. They don't do forced smiles that Americans do in customer service, nor "smile without a reason".
