aahhh yes - it is like me to miss the obvious! Affinity vs Count... duh. Thanks chimeran. PS I do use -CPUCount:1 in my shortcut.

I'm most likely 'out-to-lunch' here.... I'm not sure how it looks on a quad core, but on my dual core my processors are called 0 and 1. If I set the affinity to 0 then 'it' uses the 'first' processor. If I set it to 1 then 'it' uses the 'second' processor, or I can tell 'it' to use both(just check the 'both' box) . It would follow that if I set my short cut to -CPUCount:2 'it would not have a clue what I am asking 'it' to do. Likewise if -CPUCount:4 Just something to think about.

I have a downloaded copy from 2009 on my Vista pc and can't even access that (it was bought through Digital River at the time)... seems like EA has a tighter grip on things than I thought. In the latest interview there were some definite deal breakers for me... and it kinda left me thinking that Ocean and the other Maxis remnants have kinda left us 'holding the bouquet', so to speak. Small cities, no terraforming, saved to a 'cloud'... it seems to me this new SimCity is more about learning / conformity, than it is about being able to simulate a player's 'dream'. We're now 6 months out... are you excited? Holding your breath? Maybe your in my boat... Disappointed.

I don't know of another save reminder - maybe ask in the As to wide screen - adjust your resolution in the Sim City 4 short cut Target line: -CustomResolution:Enabled and the custom resolution definition -rwxhxd Where w = the horizontal pixel count; h = the vertical pixel count; and d = the graphics depth (probably 32) Mine looks like this: -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 My whole path:"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 -CPUCount:1 -intro:off turns off the game's introduction -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 this sets resolution -CPUCount:1 runs on one core Hope this helps

mmmm - hopefully someone bilingual will come along - not sure if -CPUCount:1 is the same in French. The other alternative is to start the game - then start Task Manager (Press Ctrl Alt Delete buttons) Click on the Processes tab and scroll to the SimCity 4.exe, right click and select Set Affinity. A small box should pop up that will let you choose which/how many cores. Close out of the Task Manager and head back to the game. Cheers!

Yes, it looks like you have the latest version. To set the game to use one core: Right click properties on your SC4 shortcut The following is what I have in MY Target line: "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 -CPUCount:1 Being that SC4 was developed before multi cores- it can't use more than one. Setting the game to only use one core greatly reduces CTD's (but doesn't eliminate them.) Another thing that I have found the reduces CTD is saving the game often as I play. Daeley's Save Alarm Mod is great for reminding me to do just that - finally a helpful adviser! (You need to be registered on the LEX to be able to see the download button.) Well, that's what this topic is about; are you excited / disappointed. Being that THIS particular community has quite a few SC4 players I would expect that to be reflected the way it is in the poll above. This same poll on EA/Origin/Facebook would most likely have different outcome. Could we please stick to issues and not knocking the community or it's members' that have chosen to share their voice. Thanks for your post shanghai kid! I was hoping that somehow I had tabbed / missed the EL FLUP. Oh well... it was just a Maxisland city I was messing around with...

First off, I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place. Is there a FLUP I've missed or other work around for this predicament? Suggestions welcome.

All opinions are welcome of course... but I do not think that I am alone in thinking the community has taken SC4 way beyond what it was meant to be. (Which might explain the disappointment / hesitation that some are voicing.)

My disappointment comes from hoping for the ultimate SimCity 4. One that didn't CTD when you scrolled too fast, one that had everything the NAM team has given us and everything they want to create, as part of the game. One that would let Mayors recreate Paris, Los Angeles, Tofino, or build a new city on Mars. One that would give us creeks and rivers that trickle from the mountains to the sea...Seasons... and all the things seasons make us think of... green buds, flowers, fall colours, snow covered roads. Not only control over densities, but control over multi-use zoning.... Not having to scroll through endless MMP, Park and NAM menus... that is what I was hoping for.. I wasn't looking for a 'new' simulation game. In my mind playing SimCity 2013 will be along the same lines as the first time I played Tiger Woods golf on the wii. Something new. I too have successfully cancelled my pre-order. I'll wait 'til the game hits the shelves.

Hi all. I am running SimCity 4 Rush hour through Origin. My exe is 1.1.641.0 I have not had any luck in installing BAT as it is looking to update a 1.638.0 (or some such thing?) installation. I would like to create a cemetery lot that looks like a crematorium.... and has the same in game effects as the in game cemetery. Would someone be willing to help me figure out how to install the Maxis Plugin Manager and Lot Editor on the current Origin 1.641.0 build?
