So, you did plop your residential. Well, you better avoid plopping those residential my friend. They are not like commercial which can be plop as long as demand available for them. For some reason the path finding will not work properly after you plop the residential and they will soon get abandoned or you will encountered another problem related to residential. After zoning it normally, you should then expect normal demand for them.

Just where the exact location did you hear that sound? Some of maxis lots like schools, graveyards or some other civic buildings do have their own sound when you zoom close enough to them. I think it's quite normal when you can hear some sounds while zooming and not hearing those anymore after zooming out. -
You opened a thread before, and some members have answered your questions. The omnibus is the right place to learn something like this. All you have to do is reading. Then after that you can open a BAT thread or something like that here.

First you must check your resident average age. Putting bunch of schools or college will not increase the possibilty of being used. Once your resident getting older they will need library instead of schools or college. Older resident will not go back to school anymore now will they.
