[Solved] Error whenever attempting to save city
jiffy427 replied to jiffy427's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Yup that was it!! I had a wonky script in the steam startup that was having saves go to the wrong folder and had NAM installed incorrectly. Went through it all again and read the instructions a bit more carefully and now it's working beautifully. Thank you all so much this was really helpful and can't wait to get back into it! -
[Solved] Error whenever attempting to save city

I restarted the game and am no longer getting the error saving city, however it is crashing to desktop whenever I open a new one. I was able to get the correct exception report for it now. SimCity Exception Report 2021.09.21 14.30.11.txt -

Thank you for your response! I went through and changed the ownership however the error is still persisting. I have my user account having full control of all SimCity 4 files. Are there any other possible issues? -
[Solved] Error whenever attempting to save city
jiffy427 replied to jiffy427's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hmm did not consider that, I have gone ahead and made sure the origin version of the game was uninstalled and have gone ahead and reinstalled the steam version, however the exemption reports in the documents folder still appears to be for the origin version. Is there somewhere else where the exemption reports may be for the steam version? -

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for not including this information previously; 1. I am currently running Windows 10 2. I just redownloaded SimCity from steam so the cities are the default sample regions and I have tested it in new cities created in new regions with the same result 3. Attached below! Thank you again! [Solved] Error whenever attempting to save city
jiffy427 posted a topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Hey y'all, I used to be huge into SimCity 4 and decided to go ahead and buy it on steam and get back into it. Unfortunately I have run into an issue where everytime I attempt to save my city it shows an error message "ERROR saving city (city file name)". I've exhausted all solutions that I could think of/came across online -Went through antivirus software ensured that SimCity 4 was exempt -Removed all plugins -Ran the program as an administrator -Switched the number of cores to 1 -Installed the SimCity 4 Launcher -Uninstalled and then reinstalled SimCity 4 None of these have prevented the error and I am unable to play any city as it won't save. If anyone could provide some insight or possible solutions that would be greatly appreciated as I do really love this game and hate that I am currently unable to play it -
Here is a quick overview of Austin and the many neighborhoods throughout. Here we have the entirety of Central Austin (so far) Downtown Austin is right along the north bank of the Red River (north is the left side of the photo, south is the right). Midtown is directly East of Downtown and surrounds Loring Park, the large green space right along the river. North Austin is across the Loring Memorial Highway from Downtown and encompasses the city of Harrison, Denton, and Orchard Park. North of Orchard park and Denton is the J.M. Harrison International Airport. The Airport is one of the busiest in the United States, serving millions of passengers per year. J.M. Intl was originally focused on domestic flights, connecting to airports such as Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, and Los Angeles. But after a recent expansion in the 80's, including an addition of two new terminals and 3 new runways. AJM is now servicing over 2 million international passengers a year. Downtown by helicopter. Austin's main downtown surrounds Phillips Square, an 8 way interchange that connects the city's major avenues. Directly west of Phillips Square is the Federal District which houses several government and other important buildings. These include the Capitol, Austin City Hall, Harrison County Court House, several federal offices, and the Cathedral of St. John. Past the Capitol building is the New Financial District, which is made up of dozens of tall glass offices, all built within the last 20 years. East of Downtown is Midtown which is mostly mid-rise apartments with the occasional office building. Midtown is suprisingly home to Austin's tallest building, the Pinnacle. The Pinnacle is a 842 foot tall primarily financial and banking building with it's main tenants being Goldman Sachs, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo. But the Pinnacle's title may fall within the next few years as many pending projects aim to take it away. Here we have North Austin, mostly low density residential and commercial, there are a few commercial hubs that rise above the surrounding homes. This picture includes the cities of Denton (bottom), Orchard Square (Top Left) and Harrison (to the right of Orchard Square) View from the beginning of the east suburbs, The Pinnacle dominates the skyline with the rest of downtown sitting behind it. To the right of the picture, the newly constructed Harrison International Finance Center can be seen with North Austin in the background.

So I realize there are lot of threads about creating your models in blender, but I am trying to recreate an actual building and the only method that I can imagine working is importing a model from Sketchup to Blender. I haven't been able to get this to work at all so far, once I try to edit the textures, the faces get all messed up and I can't figure out what the issue is. If anyone has the link to any sketchup to blender tutorials or anything like that, it would be appreciated! Or if maybe I'm an idiot and there's a much easier way to create real life buildings for cities skylines. -
I know it's been quite some time since I have updated but I thought I would give a (sort of) quick teaser of what I'm working on.. The City of New Troyes is located along the banks of the Moselle River which connects the Minnehaha River to the ocean. New Troyes is the largest city in the country and the capital of the western region. The city has a highly developed and historical downtown with world class hotels and restaurant, grand museums and institutes of education, and is home to large venues and plazas. The western region was originally settled by the french so the french language and culture has a heavy influence on the city. The city is one of the largest french speaking cities in the world, with a population of 4.3 million. Here are some pictures of the downtown area: One of the city's tallest buildings, located on Rue Saint Louise, is home to several international banks and finance offices. The main financial district, the old and the new mix here, but it seems the city is switching the brick and stone for steel and glass Some medium rise apartments and offices located near the river Wealthy condominiums built along the west side of downtown The Milton Venue and New Troyes convention center The heart of downtown More to come!!!

Welcome to Vice City the Capital of Organized Crime
jiffy427 commented on Ulisse Wolf's City Journal Entry in Federal Republic of Siculia((OLD VERSION (1.0))CLOSED)
Looks great! Definitely looks like it could make a home for organized crime. The only thing I would do differently is to maybe download some of the great rowhouses and low wealth tenements that are all over the STEX and LEX. This is probably because I personally prefer custom content over most maxis buildings, and I feel like these structures give off the sort of gritty, industrial, sort of ghetto feel you're going for. Some examples of what I'm talking about: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1936 https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1445 https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2095 But just my ideas, still looks great and excited to see how you make a Doctor Who Simcity Special!!!- 5 Comments
