  1. Streaming SimCity 4

A lot of us are interested in SC4 less as a game and more as an artistic medium. Which is great for doing, but a stream would feel like watching Bob Ross.
  2. Agricultural demand has suddenly disappeared

I tried bulldozing every farm on the map, and as soon as I did, sure enough demand returned, which seems to buttress the cap idea. OK. My (possibly completely wrong) understanding is that industrial demand is relieved with neighbor connections--so I'm not clear what the general-purpose demand relievers might be (everything I google for and find indicates things that provide specifically R or C or I relief).
  3. Agricultural demand has suddenly disappeared

OK, I tried buggi's Super Demand Ordinance mod, turned the ordinance on in-game, and R and C demand jumped, but Industrial (including ag) demand is still zero.
  4. Agricultural demand has suddenly disappeared

Thanks for the suggestions! It's been ages since I installed it, but I went back and apparently everything's installed according to the instructions in the package, including the only dependency (MTP Super Pack). The instructions say that everything should go under the PEGPROD folder and work fine, though. Just on the off chance that it's not, I moved the SPAM folder to zzzzz_spam, but that changed nothing. But what's so perplexing about all of this is that no other city in this region has this problem. That's what makes me wonder if it's a systemic problem or something with this particular tile--because if it were an issue of plugin loading order, etc., then one would think that the numerous other tiles that I've built up in basically the same fashion (mostly farm, houses sprinkled here and there) would have the same problem, but they're not. It's only in this one tile that agricultural (and, indeed, all industrial) demand is suddenly zero. Use of transportation is also basically the same across all the city tiles: a few vanilla roads (though I know NAM modifies their capacity) for inter-tile connections, and then mostly streets--no high-capacity networks, and light traffic even with what's there. I wonder if it might be useful to temporarily install a demand mod just to see if that changes anything. (re: the avatar, yeah, joined the Wobblies in response to the complete spinelessness of the union we had at a job I had years ago--it wouldn't actually change bargaining representation at that job, but at least I figured I could be part of an organization fighting for more systemic change)
  5. Where can I find my DL history on STEX ?

I use the "Follow" feature for this--when I download a file, I "follow" it, and that way if I come across it again I can see that I've already followed it and know not to re-download it.
  6. I'm using SPAM. I'm creating a large region that I'm hoping to fill up with mostly farms, and a few small cities and towns and villages and hamlets and isolated houses throughout. Because even the large city tiles are actually rather small in scale, there are a number of tiles (they're all large tiles) that are basically entirely farmland plus some houses scattered here and there. So far, I've had no problems. However, in the city tile I'm working on right now, it's about 25% covered in farmland (plus a couple dozen 2x2, 2x3, or 2x4 separate residential zones that have been built up--some scattered, some clustered together though not adjacent so they have the sorts of yards that homes in the country that aren't on farms tend to have, at least in the midwestern US) and all agricultural demand has suddenly vanished and so farm zones aren't growing. I'm not sure why or what to do. I've gone into neighboring blank tiles that I haven't built up yet, and there's ag demand there, so I don't think it's a region-wide thing. Is there something I'm doing wrong or might have missed?
  7. Jimmy Carter Ailing with cancer

    That is a joke, right?
  8. College basketball arena?

Does anyone have any suggestions on any BATs that would be usable as a college basketball arena? Searching for "basketball" in the files gives me mostly either outdoor parks or arenas that are more appropriate for big-time professional teams rather than the small liberal-arts college feel I'm trying to go for.
  9. bugs Simtropolis 9.0.x - Bugs & Issues Report Thread

File search seems to be suddenly obtuse. Used to be, I could search in the STEX and it would give me a list of files that matched the criteria. The new system, if I search in "Files" it searches both the file descriptions themselves (what I'm looking for) as well as comments, which clutters up the results by either returning the same file two or three times (if the same search term was mentioned in the comments as well as the description) or comments for files that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for (if that search term for whatever reason was mentioned in the comments). Is there a workaround for this?
  10. American Politics

What utter, 100% reality-free nonsense. Greed is in no way an inherent part of the human condition: it's a conditioned response to the dominant mode of socioeconomic organization, which provides outsized rewards to such behavior. There is no such thing as an "innate human nature" (a concept which is unavoidably implied by your assertion), and insisting that there is is just bad anthropology.
  11. American Politics

But that is the point. Rand Paul advocates liberty. Economic liberty to be exact. No, he doesn't. Laissez-faire capitalism is the opposite of economic liberty: it's economic slavery. Economic liberty means communism: an absolute and unconditional guarantee of an equal share of social wealth, so that you are free to live your life as you please without being coerced by economic necessity to submit to the wishes of another.
  12. Feminism

It's like you go out of your way to utterly fail at reading what people write. Because if you were successful at that, you'd understand that no one's claiming that they exist, but instead using them as an example of something that's plainly a nonsense notion.
  13. American Politics

Nah, there are so many different strands within Libertarianism and Anarchism that no one has an effective monopoly on the term. To be a libertarian, you have to advocate liberty; the Libertarian Party does not. Similarly, to be an anarchist you have to advocate anarchism; ancaps do not. Of course a system like that can't exist in today's society--that's the whole point, to replace today's society with something better!
  14. Feminism

Except not, because the Illuminati nonsense asserts the real existence of a conscious conspiracy. The discourse of patriarchy does no such thing. Intent, conspiracy--they're all irrelevant. It's just concerned with the systemic structural effects of social values.
  15. American Politics

Rand Paul's not a libertarian. Real libertarians oppose capitalism altogether because it is a fundamentally authoritarian mode of socioeconomic organization. There's nothing the least bit libertarian about the so-called "Libertarian Party" or its members, fanboys, adherents, or allies. They are the sworn enemies of real, meaningful freedom.
