SimCity 4 Deluxe Now on Sale at Steam 75% off until March 21 2024
bcnurse247 posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Sale ends March 21, 2024 @ 10 am Pacific SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition $6.74 CAD (75% off) SimCity 3000 $2.59 CAD Just fyi for anyone who wants to try the Steam version of SC4 at a good price. The SimCity directory still appears in your Documents folder, with the Plugins and Regions folders there, etc. The NAM 48 installed with no issues, and the command line options can be added within Steam. I patched mine anyway, but I think it already comes as Version 1.1.641.0 (I'm using Windows 11). -
I love the disco kitty video!

Trucks! (u can haul stuff!) cashews or pistachios?

I love the little paddleboats. That's a lot of kitties roamin' around -- yr gonna need litterboxes!!!

Absolutely stunning. I noticed the little horse-drawn ambulance; it must be a little medical outpost -- very nice touch. Looks like there's a guy taking a bath out back.

I'm looking for a CJ; I think it was earlier this year that I saw it. It was like a travelogue, the story of someone's vacation, itinerary, etc. There was a scene of little boats floating in water covered with lily pads and water flora. You are looking down on the boats nestled in the floating flora. I'd love to find it again. Does anyone know it?

You could add custom content. Or more custom content. There's no shortage of that here. Or how about posting some pics or starting a City Journal? There's a lot of material and ideas on this site, more than can be gleaned in a short time frame. You might want to take some time to check it out.

Ooooh, the Fur Seasons Hotel; very upscale. Perhaps it will include a complimentary massage at the Cat's Paw Cat Spa ??

Help me design ultimate SC4 PC system

I second the motion for the NVIDIA GeForce video card. I had an ATI on a previous system and I didn't prefer it with SC4. NVIDIA performed better. -
EA Forum user mods game to play offline, enables debug mode, and places highways/rail in and outside of city boundaries...

Is the reason for DRM really due to piracy? I know they like to blame it on piracy. But there must be other ways to curb it besides the always online thing. I suspect that the reason for DRM has more to do with maintaining corporate control of the product/brand, and maximizing profit through additional charges for extra content, time, etc. In effect, players aren't even really buying the game anymore. They're renting it. And of course, they can be evicted at any time. -
SimCity launch hobbled by server strain; EA offering refunds

Just thinking about all those poor simpletons who said "DRM doesn't bother me, I'm always connected to the internet anyway". Are they seeing the bigger picture now, I wonder. -

Wow! This is awesome! I love all the new options! I'm coming from version 29 so it's like a double/triple whammy for me! Much gratitude to the team for all the time and work to create this! Also, I appreciate the extensive documentation. -
Thanks for gathering more info on this. I enjoyed the George Stroumbo segment. Now that you've mentioned it, I've heard of the National Geographic one as well and I may have gotten them mixed up (that might be the one my friend ordered). Anyways, I think the message is important: that we all share a common ancestry, and that each of us is linked, each and every cell, to many cultures and regions beyond our current experience. The science lets us look back so much further and see so much more than we ever could.

Hi all, There is actually a project underway to trace human ancestry through DNA analysis. www.dnaancestryproject.com Basically, you can purchase a test pkg (prices $119 or $199), send in a DNA sample from yourself and I think one parent or sibling (probably buccal cells from the inside of the cheek), and they will send you information about the history, timeline, and geography of your biological ancestors. There is also some kind of public biological genealogy database underway. I thought this was pretty neat when I heard about it. Also, it could be great for people who were not raised by their genetic parents to find a biological connection. I know 1 person who has done it (the $119 option) but I don't think a lot of people know about it yet.
