Nice work! I really like the idea. This little detail will help to add some optical realism and variety to the maxis highway.

I now follow this cj for quite a while and after you have showed really alot of pictures, i MUST say this recreation is AWESOME!!! Let me summarize what me inspired most on you´r recreation: 1. Your way to build your traffic grid. It´s a mastery to beat the gridstyle over a wide cityarea, because grid is kinda inherent in the game with the standart networks. Your way to build grid in other angles than 45°-steps is just amazing and gives the cities the european touch. 2. The buildings: im not sure how many growed and how many you have plopped, but the mixture is very good! even though i visited the Ruhrgebiet twice in my life i´d say the colours and style of the buildings is well choosen, and there are no (over-)brightlycoloured maxis buildings. This results in a "natural grey"-appearance of your cities, which you can also observe when using any map-site on the internet and look on a city from above. 3. Your way of using details. There are many great CJs indeed, many of them focus on the smalles details - like little sideways, fences beside the rail and whatsoever. But the appeal of your city is not the small detail in every corner, on every cell, no for me its the way u use details to stress specific locations(like the Harbor), to let them shine out of those (i.e) boring industrial areas. All together you have my admiration - i have rebuilt a small part of the Rhein/Main-Gebiet by myself, and apart from the traffic net (which is by far the easiest part, i´d say) it´s far from beeing such a masterpiece of recreation like your´s is!

Awesome work! A little question - will it be possible, to connect transit networks i.e. road & 1-wayroads to the onewayroadtile inbetween the roundabout and the off/onramp? If not it would be nice if this tile would be removed, to move the ramps more close to the roundabout, just for optic and space issues.

@Haljakey Nice interchanges as always, huge layout, the space in between filled with alot of eycandy - really a pleasure to look at! This time some criticism of me 1. I don´t see the funtionality in most of ur paths, mainly because u have a seperated "standart" cloverleaf/T-interchange in the middle, and thus no direct (means ffffffffaaaar away, up to 1 screen) connection to the parallel supportlanes... This makes it neccessary to make many connections for the supportlanes, which enlarges traveltime und consumes a vast amount of space... Further more, i see some weird connections, like oneway connectin to a road-roundabout (does this work or you simply want to use the road<->onewayroadtransition) and some other 1wayroad<->road transitions where i dont see any use in... 2. The onesided ground on/offramp u use (parallel one) loocks awfull! This "dead-end" which is created when you dont connect both ends of the oneway belonging to the on/offramp is a noightmare!! No engineer ever would do such a thing in reality. I assume you use these, because there is a lack of other possibilities for ground-ground connecting (merging) oneways with the highway via a seperated on/offramp. So it´s just an eyecandy criticism...

@Haljackey Nono, dont get me wrong, i wasnt offended, sometimes it is a bit disappointing, that its not possible to recreate european interchanges as attractive as u can rebuilt "american style"-interchanges with the tools of SC & NAM.... So its hard when interchanges are mostly judged eyecandy, because my main goal is to afford the full realistic function (i.e. indirect ramps). Further i just wanted to make clear with my post, that there are major differences in highwaybuilding-concepts all over the world! You have for example to take in account: density the country is settled, aproximatly distance between cities and junctions, alternative routes available and so on. Of course in Ontario there is a lot of space, so the highwaylayout is much more "generous" concerning the space used. (Compare Ontario 11,7 people/km

Ok, here another try of me to create a realistic cloverleaf interchange , like they are common here in germany: 1. Where u wanna go??? And a 2nd one:

Hi everyone. First of all i wanna thank all people contributed to the NAM - without those noble people, things like this would NEVER been possible: I have a suggestion for a simple ( hope so...) missing puzzle piece, with wich the functionality and possibilities of the "splithighway principle" could be drastically enhanced. As u can see on my pci, the split lane has to merge with the middle, main highway - unfortunatly there is only 1 way to merge the split lane with the middle Highway The next pic shows the problem and some numbered Areas, which i discuss below: http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/3232/interchangeerklrunghk4.jpg 1. Change elevated split Highway to ground, then merge with straight onewayroad-on/offramp to elevated main highway. The other way round is NOT possible, because u can t connect the elevated on/offramp puzzle piece to the split elevated highwaylane.... 2. Unfortunatly these "cut in half" transitons of el<->ground HW are very sensible and tend to vapourize without any obvious reason. 2a Further, its very tricky (and i dont understand why) to connect a onewayroad/whatever, aftrer u created a splitransition - as u can see, the marked area 2b is the MINIMAL length of ground HW split lane, until i can connect ANYthing other or even to reconnect ground HW (makes me MAD!!!! 3. In my mind, the solution is a split-elewatedhighway <->Onewayroadpuzzlepiece transition piece! Like the elAveneu<->elHW puzzlepiece - only cut in half! this would offer a bunch of new possibilities and drastically enhance the use of multihigwaylanes! ( i hope it wasn´t mentioned before somewhere in this thread) 4 Another possibility would be a ploppable transtion - like shown beside 4. in my picture I hope i was able to make obvious what´s the problem, and that iam not the only one, interrested in the advance of multihighways....

Ok guys, after my (late) findings about splitted elHWs her my first efforts http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/5489/superkreuzferndt3.jpg For me - this is near to a perfect highcapacity cloverleaf interchange common in germany.

Ok, here are some of mine... These interchanges are the rebuilts of the german highway 3 [A3/E52] around Frankfurt am Main. It´s one if not the most important HWs in germany and also europe - maybe not the widest HW, but its in the heart of europe, connecting transit between west and easteurope. Lets start with some minor interchanges with dual carrigeways (Bundesstraßen): The "AS - Hanau" connecting the B45 with the A3 in a unusal interchange, because of the close interchanges on the dual carrigeway it was impossible to build a cloverleaf like interchange here. http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1659/ashanaunahpu2.jpg http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1659/ashanaunahpu2.jpg Next is the AS-Frankfurt Süd Now some more interresting interchanges- the "Offenbacher-Kreuz" connecting the A661 to the A3 And now my masterpiece - the Frankfurter Kreuz - connecting the A5 and A5 - an amazing interchange - partly 19 lanes wide - a knot for all Transit going north/south via A5 and west/east via A3 - left hand is also the 3rd biggest european airport . http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/723/kreuzffmnahtb5.jpg http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/3014/kreuzffmfernah7.jpg maybe these facts arent amazing for americans BUT - we in germany have other amenities than the broadest highways - we have the right to drive as fast as we want - imagine to drive there with 200-300 km/h (as fast as ur car and ur earning can) PS. sorry for being to stupid to upload piccus in a proper way - html code didnt work like usual for me, and now im too sleepy to fix it this night.
