Maxis: SimCity’s “lonely experience” influenced always-online play
dsaved commented on Hellken's article in News
Our mistake here is that we try to find a point in what Quigley says, but it's a waste of time. Of course he knows that the SC franchise exists mainly because of its community. What he needs is NOT a community, but what TODAY is called a community and really is a totally different thing. In tabletworld a "game" is such only as long as you can "share" your doingnothingness with other doingnothingers. There's no common interest/passion, but only the common goal of showing others you have an expensive toy and you can use it to play a Pong-like game. In this environment you are worth your logtime, and nothing else. Quigley and EA don't give a damn about people who have played SC in the past 30 years: to them we don't exist. They want (need) NEW clients, the want (need) to sell a brand to teens losing their eyesight on iPads and such: the golden "new client" is one that gets excited about Angry Birds... not complex strategic simulations. Yesterday I found in the mail the STEX Collectors DVDs. It was one of the most beautiful mail I've ever got. In a few weeks I'll give a good look to the new SC game, and I really hope that I'll be surprised to find in it some of the endless magic this game has provided to me in this past several years. -
Hi everyone,I'm looking for those unrealistic mods that satisfy the energy, water and waste disposal needs of an entire city, I had them but I lost them in a recent cleanup of the plugin folder, and I just don't know how they're named. They were just three single, faceless tiles, costing 24, 250 and 8000 simoleons, sort of. I combed the StEx and the Lex but to no avail. Thanx for any help you'll give!
